The 2nd Skyfly Festival is two-fold, and it will be very challenging, and fun. The concept is based on Jari Kuosmas ideas from early 2000, The 1st Skyfly Festival in 2001, and discussions at the Hercules Boogie in 2002. The first part of The 2nd Skyfly Festival is an invitational part, and then there's a general flocking & fun part. Place: Gryttjom DZ, Sweden. Date: June 7-15. Part 1 - The invitational A select group of very experienced wingsuit pilots (like John Arne Loken, Robert Pecnik, Jari Kuosma, Vesa Toropainen, etc) has accepted the invitation and will challenge their skills as a team for the cameras of Hans Berggren. This group will start to play early on Saturday, June 7. The flying will be very challenging and during this part of the festival, the group will be a strong team with all their focus on their own flying, and for the cameras. Again, this will be very intense and challenging. Part 2 - Flocking, Fun & Demo-suits Starting Thursday, June 12 thru Sunday 15, the doors will open wide for general flocking and fun. More news on available demosuits and organisers will come shortly.

Hi. No need to quit. I'm still jumping. But you need to be very smart now and over the next few months if you want to avoid lifelong problems. In addition to the fracture (which will heal), you might also have strained most tendons, fibres and muscles in the neck- and upper back area, similar to a "whiplash-injury", but much more serious. This might cause lifelong problems, i.e., daily headaches and pain, sleeping problems, concentration problems, etc. You can minimize this by receiving threatment soon, and quickly rebuild strenght. My personal advice is to stay away from painkillers during daytime, use it only to get valuable sleep. And stay away from alcohol, for a while. When you get back to skydiving (2-6 months from now), you should apply all the info in the sport achieved over the last decade on how to minimize bodily harm during the opening sequence. There is a lot to be aware of. Find the info. Take control. It's your life. I learned this the hard way, and almost quit skydiving a few years ago.http://www.hangout.no

Agreed. There is room for us all. And I've seen the graphs from her practice jumps at Perris. Nice! She's one of the two I know about. Stan Snigir is the other. I bet he will do some impressive stuff in the series aswell, if he decides to compete. http://www.hangout.no

Hi Kallend. You don't have to be fat to be competitive in Speed Skydiving. Mike Brooke is about 170 lbs and he won the World Cup last year. Anyway, maybe there should be a Speed Skydiving forum on this site? I would be happy to answer questions about the discipline and post news from the 2003 World Cup. I've actually heard some serious rumours about a few americans who plan to compete in the series this year. Who knows, maybe there will be a meet or two in the US this year, or next year?

Hi. Check out Speed Skydiving results at www.hangout.no/speednews. Results are in kph. Males on the left. Females on the right. By the way, we have quit using the leg mount and have been, since November 2000, using the average between two Pro-Tracks, mounted on each side of the hip. The resuls on the top are the best scores in competition since Nov 2000, and the ones below are the best from the 2002 World Cup series.

You sure are Vesa :-) Looking forward to flying with you and the rest of the group. By the way, we have a Super Otter and plenty of slots available for a bunch of wingflying pilots looking for fun. [www.hangout.no]

The 2nd SkyFly Festival will focus on great wingflying, and the goal of the week is to shoot some fantastic images. This group will consist of 10 to 15 invited pilots like John Loken, Jari Kuosma, Robert Pecnik, Michael Nordquist and more... Hans Berggren will direct the show and shoot the video. DATE: June 9-15. DROPZONE: Gryttjom, Sweden. "We'll have shitloads of fun. Make a freakin' good movie, and shoot tons of shitcool pictures that will rock the world. You will scream when you watch the result" - Hans Berggren :-) Even if you're not invited, you might get on this group. If not, the flying will still be great and fun. More info to be posted on www.hangout.no

The BirdMan Newspage has been very quiet for a while due to server problems. This will be fixed and the page will be up and running soon, I hope. In the meantime, check out www.hangout.no for birdman and other skydiving news.
