Thanks, I assumed it had been brought up before but as I mentioned earlier, I am useless with the search option. I don't really get the significance of the numbers 200:1 and 30:1 mechanical advantage... Are they talking strickly about the ease of pull (during cutaway)?? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

The only thing that came to mind when I read that post was that perhaps that rigger was strapped for cash in a "Okay, I need to pack X number of reserves today in order to pay-da-bills".... When 'reminded' that the one he just did was free, he thought, shit! XYZ owes ME a free pack job! I cou'd have spent that 1 and a half hour making money! But even that is a stretch. Not the answer for Bill but.... My thoughts on "The Benefit of the Doubt" The "benefit of the doubt" is something you offer someone when there is doubt, not when there isn't. i.e. "The Iraquies wont let UN inspectors in!" hmmm, I'm not sure about that.. (there's the doubt) after all, the letter says they are ready to receive UN inspectors On the other hand, there is no doubt in my mind that the U.S. government would rather blow the whole place up rather than send inpectors at all! Thus, in the interest of human lives, the benefit of my doubts HAVE to go to the other side. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Not at all! What I'm asking about is the risers themselves... BASE jumpers say "No way!!!" to mini-risers so you'd be a perfect person to ask why. I have mini-risers/ mini-3ring system. So, the only 'problem' with mini-risers is that they wear faster? A few more questions to all: When would you replace mini-risers vs. regular ones? I bought my rig second hand and the container had but 100 jumps on it. I fugured I'd replace the risers when I brought that number up to 500 (or earlier if I noticed something which required it) Sound good? And what's the mechanical disadvantage of mini-3-ring? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

I'm useless at doing those searches!! I type in "mini-risers, disadvantages" and I get your post! My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Hey all, The "My first Base Rig" article was pretty cool and informative. I noted at one point however, the author mentions that he recommends that no BASE jumper ever use mini-risers. This is because they have failed skydivers in the past. I did a quick search but could find nothing... In what ways are mini-risers more vulnerable to malfunction than standard? No flu shots for me please and thank you. Personnaly, I think the idea stinks. I also agree all too much with bill regarding the anti-bacterial wipes, soaps etc. When you think about their uses in hospitals and whatnot, they serve a great purpose.... The home, classroom or espesially day-cares; That's were they ought not to be used. The immune system needs to fight things in order to exist! Viruses/bacteria attampt but so does the immune system. Combat the virus/bacteria outside the body, (i.e. wipes and disinfectants -Also considering the shots as an "outside the body" remedy) and you take away your immune systems 'intel' and thus, a portion of it's ability to fight the new threat. One can only hope, after having taken the flu-shot, that we can keep up with the changing virus by developing a new shot... Or that the children of todays daycares don't ever come into contact with nasty germs in their teens and adulthood, having never run into them while growing up and developping an adult body. Justin, See here that a very real war has very officially been declared. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/1603178.stm Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

He sure does account for his actions though... It's the futur threat I'm worried about... My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Wait a minute... back to the definitions of war for a moment... It seems there was a hang-up on the 'declare' vs. 'undeclared' issue... However, if one side declares war, is there not War? Does the other side have to declare it aswell? Al-Queda declare Jihad!!! Religious WAR on America! Bush declared war on 'terrorism' so that he could broaden his targets knowing fully well that a war on "Al-Queda" would prove to be much more difficult. So, in fact, we are at war even by your prefered definition bill. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Scott! Photography? You're crazy... Don't you know how dangerous that is? Fencing will be fun though, I've taken many different sword arts/sport. Never fenced competitively but the little I did was a BLAST! I too am embarassed from time to time, when surrounded by whuffos (only the criticizing ones though) I still absolutely LOVE to answer the whuffo questions. I can immediately tell if someone is interested/open or if they think I'm crazy/stupid... I just don't entertain the latter... screw 'em. For the most part, when plugged with questions, I go on to talk about safety features of my gear, i.e. reserve, reserve pack-jobs/cards, cutaway system, cypress etc. However, there are tons of people out there that will think you are absolutely nuts to jump out of a plane and there is NOTHING you can tell them to think otherwise.. I say screw 'em. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Yup Bill, this is more like a "better to kill one innocent man than let 6 terrorists escape" sorta thinking. And it would be justified in thinking that each of those 6 terrorsts might kill 100 later. That's 600/1 (deaths prevented/innocents killed) as opposed to 100/10 in your example... Plus, for all the jumping, huming and ha-ing that went on when it was released that one of the men killed in Yemen was an American, we later found that this man was not born in the U.S. but had only resided there temporarily and obtained dual citizenship. When considering an attack like the one in Yemen, you cannot really transpose the scenario to say, Canada. The missle was fired by an unmanned drone because were dealing with lawless wastelands. If the culprits were in a local Gun store in the states, they'd be apprehendable... Driving around in Yemen, terrorists are a little harder to 'bring to justice'. Of course, If there was a small terrorist cell holding up in the middle of the Arizona Desert, planning an attack, than the use of a missle could be justified as opposed to a simple arrest. Just my 2 cents CND. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

ALL my friends are like "Hell yeah I'll go!"... Of course, they never do! I've gotten about 4 friends to take the plunge and also, my whuffo woman did a tandem this year (she wants to go again whooohooo) They credit your acount with like $28 or something (this is price of jump from 10,500') If you are on Student Status, this is like a 'half-price' jump 'cause your average jump including insructor and rental gear comes out to about $60 CND. G.N.F.R. Used to Rock!!! I've seen them twice now. The first time, Appetite had been out for a while, they weren't touring Use your illusion yet but were playing all the material... Skid row oppened. The second time, It was the G.N.R./Mettalica tour with faith-no-more and Soundgarden (Kick ass show!!!) That was the year, James Hetfeild got all burnt up in Montreal and Axl refused to play afterwards causing a huge riot. I got to see James take the bandages off his hands and play for the fist time during the second encore (Enter sandman and One) Izzy Stradlin wrote Everything for G.N.R... When he left, they were left with what? Spaghetti incident? What a piece of garbage! Remember on Use your illusion II, the track near the end of the disk, "My World"? It's a kinda industrial techno shit-fest! That's the direction Axl wanted to take the band back then... And unfortunately, he owned the rights to the bands name and when the shit hit the fan, "Guns n' Roses" went to shit. Having said that, I do posess a ticket to Axl's show in Toronto... if he shows My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Got out of a C182 somewhere between 2200'-2500' because of a fuel leak, pulled at 2000'. Lowest terminal pull was on student status and was around 2000' I pull regularly at 3 - 3.5 and am not really happy going below this so I won't be making any attempts at 'tying' the record My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

I will do just that thanx! Like I said, I didn't buy it right off the bat but then I got to thinking about some of the things he says... I kinda like his style... true that Dr. Dre can't touch him but still... I really don't think it's cool to verbally threaten the life of someone (nevermind the mother of your child) so oppenly.. How can he get away with that? And how could he ever expect to get his son back while vocalizing such violent thoughts? Poor guy. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

I couldn't agree more with Kevin about talent.. It is hard to bust rhymes and he IS funny. I'm not the biggest rap or hip-hop fan but I recognize talent when I hear it... Here's the question though: Who here believes he is signing about his life? I've heard -and partly agree- that Eminem is a manufactured product. That his 'life-history' is just a fabricated story. The only thing that would make be beleive this is that he can get away with verbal abuse and life threatening comments he makes towards 'Kim', his supposed Ex and mother of his supposed daughter? It does make me wonder ??? what do you guys think? The movie looks interesting but what's it supposed to be? His life? Not sure... My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Left hand on strut, right hand on door frame (right side). Left foot on the step (toes out or facing the tail), ritght foot still in the plane... get out facing the tail. From here, you can either 'fall off' with a slightly forward lean to get your butt into the relative wind (not extremely important in cessna but still good practice) or you can lean slightly back and ride the slide.
