  1. NINE? as in the number after EIGHT car accidents?? please for your own safety NEVER SWOOP. you may die due to having too many skydives vader knew how I would react to this post which is why he posted it. Some guy broke my nose outside a bar in edmonton once and he removed him, he is a stone cold legend I was distracted by boobies at the time neither of us are 'Trolls' whatever that is. If I saw a Troll under a parachute that would be awesome and I would eat more mushrooms right away
  2. obviously they should politely step aside when they see me coming, maybe offering a formal salute, like a full moon. this would enhance swoopings appeal and pique the curiosity of the non skydiver. I did sucessfully dodge the french freefly champions coming in the other day which was good because The French are not to be fucked with, historically speaking This thread is extremely debilitating. I feel like the weight of several elephants is bearing down on me, and I'm all alone like a baby seal on the ice pack in search of a tasty beverage at least I had a good shag this morning and just ate a lovely meal, I cannot complain. life is good, until it perhaps ends abruptly, which makes its brevity all the sweeter. now, adieu dear friends.
  3. haven't had a canopy crash until Apopka and if I had taken more time to familiarise myself with the place I doubt that would have happened either. Rob just because you don't want to swoop and you act like everyone's Mom doesn't make you an authority on anything. you can't even ride a bike. and the number is three that have been down, none wrecked. one: gravel on a blind corner, two car pulled out in front of me with no indication, three, well three I may or may not have had a couple too many drinks dodging another motorcyclist who may or may not have had too many drinks, so I'll take that one. and how the hell am I the worst lunatic that exists on any DZ? that is the biggest crock of shit I've ever heard. compared to the stuff that has happened in moving vehicles between the pair of us you should be keeping your mouth damn well shut. How many CAR accidents have you been in now genius due to fuck knows why?!?!?!?
  4. 4 pages of thread even. I'm going back to work so bounce bingo will have to wait I was homeless when I started out in telecoms towers with no qualifications, I got experience through work ethic figuring it out as I went, sometimes getting exploited by employers doing stupidly dangerous jobs. I had a lot of fun with it and ran a crew within a year, it usually takes 5. Now I work all over the world as an independent contractor because I took the risk and succeeded. It's a privilege to be able to skydive. Took a lot of hard work to get into it and I was only able to because when people told me I couldn't do something, I made up a way I could. I'm happy that I've been able to experience flying this canopy, it was a goal since watching my AFF instructors deploy and then cut a track through the sky on them got nothing else to say here. have fun everyone doing anything you happen to be doing
  5. I just need FIGJAM on my cut handle and YOLO on my reserve
  6. nah brew, never tried it before. I put on roller skates for the first one and went down highway 92. no grass stains!
  7. me too I don't want to shit in anyone's can I like high pulls, more harness time and everyone has usually left the landing area I've never seen a fanfare for anyone landing after a swoop. what glory? That is brain space that could be used thinking about how to swoop better. That kind of thinking is directly counter productive to achieving anything, it adds pressure that wouldnt exist if the swooper was not actively thinking about what other people think. thats a self awareness and development thing though right? we have Acid for that. i usually get an idea of wanting to do something that germinates in my head, then I'll think about, then I try to do it. sometimes failure is a necessary part or that process, I'm trying to obviate the most deletrious aspects of that in swooping. People can think what they want of me, so long as they know I do not want to hurt or negatively affect them.
  8. I absolutely hit in apopka because I dug my hole before I got in the plane at deland I spent 15-20 jumps orienting myself with the DZ, seeing where the long flat obect free areas are, and I got used to the place. I didnt do that in Apopka I had nothing but good landings at Deland, despite pushing it. the reason I tried downwind, xwind etc was because it pissed me off that my landing safely was contingent upon landing directly into the wind all the time, what if I got in a situation where I had to land downwind and hadnt planned for it? so I went and tried it, then when the tail wind hit the back of the canopy and launched me forward at nitrous speed I got quite addicted to it and the ridiculous amount of ground you cover. it feels fkn awesome. At apopka I fcked up by not accurately judging how I felt before I got in the plane, I was a little sick and my acuity was not what it should have been. still my arrogance and comfort level derived from all the positive experiences over rode my ability to see I was digging a hole for myself. I didn't look for outs, and even when I saw my base leg was noy panning out as I had expected, I still went for it. I broke several of my own rules and I'm not surprised I spanked my ass As unlikely as it sounds from reading my past posts, I do not like taking arbitrary risk. I take an envelope I am familiar with and if I push it to try to learn more it has to be within a relatable margin, otherwise the data is too far outside my knowledge sphere to correlate with what I already know, therefore a pointless experience. I do not initiate turns lower than my audible settings and if I do not have a set up pattern planned with lane and length decided before I enter the plane I don't go for it. obviously reality can upset the best laid plans, in that scenario I try to find the safest way to get down without hosing anyone. thats not to say my canopy choice isnt inadvisable and I appreciate the concern and input of anyone better than me. this is just how I'm wired, this is what I like to do, this is why I skydive. It's not about looking cool I'm not about the serious looking sunglasses crowd, I'm about those feelings that take me outside reality for a brief moment and just feel amazed to be alive and blown away by the experience I just had. Like MOTHERFUCKER WOOOOOOOHAAA
  9. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_T6trAl54g2c/TU0UtKmIvBI/AAAAAAAAAbQ/eB8t7r6gHic/s1600/keanu%2Bhappy.jpg another day on dz.com macintosh i know you have a pair of those glasses
  10. do you think you'd be able to send me a GoPro for such purposes?
  11. ordered my T last week good sir what I was going to suggest was a sweep stake, bets would be placed on blocks of ten jumps over the next 200 jumps eg jumps 380-389 would be one block, so on and so forth. If I don't go in in 200 jumps, I get the money for future safety I propose SkyCops. Issued with microlights, uniforms, bullhorns and air to air tasers they will control unruly canopy pilots. They will drop Stop signs hung from balloons and hide behind clouds waiting for people to fly through them. All skydivers will be forced to dress like Mario Kart characters and if they have a turtle shell or banana about their persons are permitted to lob such items at the coppers with fervent alacrity I hope that clears everything up. It's been emotional.
  12. yeah, you just skid out downwinders gently on your ass then pop up onto your feet at the end, make sure you have a nice smooth landing area though... :0) I've swooped my Velo at night, was a nice landing, and got 4 wingsuit jumps on it in an Alien G7, I'd say it makes a decent wingsuit canopy. I actually learnt how to swoop in Lodi (surprised?!) with no altimeter because my Viso came off in freefall and I spent all my money on jump tickets, I think it helped train my eyes. I found flip flops with no tread were excellent because they sort of skied along the ground really smoothly. true story. I already hit the deck at 60 mph in apopka. it was dumb as fuck I kept trying to find heading on fronts for some reason after getting blown off heading during the turn, it's a 12' wide landing area with buildings on one side and trees on the other. I thought downwinding it was a great idea. went through a bush bounced off the ground flipped through my risers, landed somehow on my feet and walked away. don't know how. Ate 4 aleve tablets had a cigarette had a few beers and 4 days later I did 6 270's to get it out of my system. I freeclimb 1000' broadcast masts for a living to perform tower maintenance, sometimes in -20 covered in ice if that's what the weather gods give us. Swooping is the only thing that comes close to that amount of intensity. Rigging several tonnes of steel in that environment is a test of nerve too, or working in limited resource environments where you're dropped by helicopter and you're definitely going to die if you break yourself, like tower building in jungle environments for example, I've run crews doing that a couple of times. In any case, bikes are just as dangerous as canopies, there is nothing like 180mph on a murdercycle. I'll probably die by tripping off a curb into a bus or something. what can I say, I like adrenalin, it chills me out. I think one guy said something about being behind the curve in terms of canopy progression, you're right it's definitely going to take longer on this canopy. I've had some my best landings on this canopy though for some reason, it's got so much flare. I could sit here trying to justify it but I can't be fucked. have fun assholes, be safe. and thanks Rob. you're a legend.
  13. I put about 40 270's on this velo 4 450's and a couple 90's. those are training jump numbers to anyone with a new canopy. I've got about 330 swoops total which is more than some people with 1000 skydives, I can comfortably stand up 270's in 25mph+ downwind. I was getting more out of the katana horizontal wise, but I'm not an eternity away from finding the timing on the rears on the velo which is going to sling shot it forward. I start a 90 from 570' and I could clear the landing area on the katana with it, 270 currently from 770' I don't really care if you can outswoop me or not, because I do this for me. I like this canopy and I like swooping because of the mental discipline and work it requires, if something isn't hard work I tend not to enjoy it. I'm 99% certain I can hit gates at Deland on every jump so if want to come hang do some fun jumps it would always be cool to see you, and then out drink you obviously :0)
  14. would anyone reading this be willing to write a brief summary of the philosophy behind why you got into skydiving, and why you continue to do it? what is it from a purely emotive perspective that made you start doing this and why do you carry on?
  15. nice, I enjoyed the mother reference, you could definitely be more insulting with a bit more intelligence and effort though. 4 out of 10. FYI you dont have to repost my profile in order for people to view it, they can just click on it. that way you're saving time you could be using to be more of a man in between sitting around on DZ.com and jerking off to bukkake videos
  16. Rob, your Mom says my canopy is awesome and YOU need to stop getting your cock out in public before you catch something that doesnt wash off AND when you did your first BASE jump off a dodgy little 53m bridge in Australia with a landing area the size of a beach towel, I undstood why and I would have helped cart your ass off to hospital had you fucked yourself up, being as you're a grown ass man and can make your own damn decisions I told you Jaymo flew by me on a high pull in a wingsuit, once. I did not say I am jumping with the PDFT or that they or any other instructor is endorsing my canopy choice by being in the same airplane as me or being on the same DZ. I had a KA120 before it and to me at least this canopy is more enjoyable from opening to landing. it is harder to turn vertical speed into forward speed with it definitely, but it opens be tter lands better is more stable harder to stall has greater range of flight. I've had it for the last few weeks and put 50 jumps on it here its not a secret, I can't really hide the thing.
