JJ - It was your posting on BLINC that made me question why people were using the tailgate on slider up - there seems to be a general feeling that sliders and tailgates never the twain should meet - I am wondering why you see this as a beneficial set up whereas most people will only use a tailgate on only slider down / off jumps. On my dagger slider i have a tab that a rubber band is attached to and a small bite of my brake lines and put into in holding the slider up and keeping some control of the brake lines stopping them going over the front of the nose - surely this is an effective method without the risks associated with a tailgate being used slider up. I am not thinking of using a tailgate on slider up - as my thoughts and beliefs are that it is only to be used as a preventative measure on slider off - maybe i will test this on the guinea pigs some time later in the year.................... Thanks Michael

i had always thought that tailgates were for slider off/down packs only - but i have read a couple of posts here and there - and some people seem to be using them / testing them slider up........ i was just curious of peoples opinions on why or why not! i will go with what I have always thought - Not! Rabbits - thats a no no!! but weasels and other small river bank dwelling mammels - now theres another story - just please make sure you have the wrist muscles and tip tob elbow action before you proceed - try it on a guinea pig first! - make sure its taped! Be Good !! Michael

i have heard that some people are investigating this set up - anyone else have an opinion on it? thanks michael ps) cant get on Blinc so am yet to post it there!

ah! I had to go my own way with this as I could not find a mentor - as Skin did. So he has progressed faster than me. He is doing some much more hardcore stuff than my mere newbie experiences. I am in no rush and will go at my own pace - for the time being I will stick with the lower risk no taper with just a 3 second delay - I realise when going into the Agouti & Absyinian where taping is recommended - a longer delay is recommended - now thats getting into the dodgy 4-8 second realm! For those of you yet to make your first please please try this first - http://www.realhamster.com - remember this is not a game and you can get hurt! Be Safe - Be making sure the claws are clipped......

I know its all opinion and we are not experts - but I believe that not taping the guinea pig increases the sensation - but be sure to clip those claws as that will cause catastophic failure!!! - oh of course unless you go off and drink heavily first!!!

You Cruel b4stard Jase - do it on something lower down the food chain - errmm - I know a woman!!

Here here........... I know of one skydiver "friend" who decided to take the BASE journey alone - and very nearly killed himself in the process. If sites are made known to certain people then I think that perhaps more fools would try this route to chase a false dream. Be Safe........ be phuking scared $hitless of this sport cause you will enjoy it more!!!

To be honest when first getting into BASE (as I am - only 7 months in the sport) I would hope that just basic no frills jumps (if there is such a thing in BASE) still scare the shit out of you (as they do with me) with out adding complications like McC or Tards etc (I heard it was called a tard by some outstanding tracking Aussie cause you must be slightly Retarded to do them?!?!?! ) Be Safe............. dont be a retard.........

OK Situation - you are having sex with a girl and there is no contraception - you start to feel vinigar strokes and YOU say "Get off & NO to her" because sense has just told you - she may catch babies. She continues to ride you on top and you ejactulate. She ends up catching babies - Now did SHE rape YOU??? cause you said no part way through? according to the US courts she did! BE Safe........... be scared of women out to trap you and 15% of your gross salary!!

Since my 180 (my first 180 in my short time in the sport) I have trying to research the varying factors that could have contributed to it. Luckily enough I had the awareness and actions to save me from a strike - as well as a nice tail wind! - but it has had me looking for some answers to the reasons for it. I jumped with a tailwind that was coming slightly to the left of me with a 46" non vented non load taped PC. I took a 1 second (maybe slightly less) delay. I can only come to the conclusions that as my PC seemed to skate around and perhaps I may have dipped my right shoulder on pitch (from previous video I never had done this - but hey does not say I did not) and the wind from the left side of tailwind all could have had some effect towards the 180. But without video and only my memory of the jump and the view from above from an experienced jumper I still find myself trying to pin point why this happened. I would be appreciative of your views on factors and experiences of 180's to help me build on my knowledge and help in some way to explain a rather intense jump! I do think that for first off the PC's I use to contribute to some of the off headings I have had - I will be jumping a load taped AV to confirm my thoughts that most of my off headings are caused by the "skating" of my PC. But I would also like the thoughts of other jumpers of additional reasons for off headings. I am still but a newbie in this sport - and still need some guidence for some of the most obvious of experiences. Thanks in advance for your patience and time. Be Safe. Michael

I am starting to believe my non vented non load taped PC is causing me some problems with off headings!! I had a 180 tonight on a guyed A and the view from above was that it skated around alot - I probably did a stronger pitch than my normal placement and we had strongish tail wind. There are probably some other additional reasonings for the 180 but I dont think the PC helped! Im off to trawl the archives for postings on off headings!!!!........ Be Safe...........

apparently Ikea have been doing this print for awhile - I am sure you must be able to order online?!?!?!? Be Safe............

I pro pack without clamps. Saying that...... i have now just started using clamps on the last stages so I end up with some control whilst pulling into the container and folding in. No doubt I will end up using clamps throughout my packing!! I have to admit when I see people flat pack it does look cleaner and more structured - but all in all we are doing the same thing. Be Safe........ Be still developing "my" pack job M

Is what I get trying to play it!
-
I may be reading your post incorrectly but I am not saying "hey I dont have the skills to deal with a 180" I was merely asking the about the increased probabilities to off headings from various factors - including the 4-7 delay. This is what I was asking about. Be Safe............

would also be interested in views on this - taking a 5 or 6 second slider up - as object allows - would you rather go 3 or 4 slider off because of off heading potential??? - do you regard the slider up deployment between 4 to 8 as a hazzard for off headings with certain wind speeds? be safe........... be thinking of my views on an open forum!
