Using 2 go-pros for video/stills and charging tandems $120

^^ What Lepka just said. coitus non circum - Moab Stone -
Not so sure. I just read somewhere that the sensitivity of its internals is such that it starts recording when the chair (lift) levels out, not necessarily only just when you begin descending/going down. If that is so, then it may just start recording once the plane levels-off & setting up for/on jumprun. ...Maybe? ...Dunno? But as others have said, might be for at least all the GoPro crowd, currently scrambling and checking "if they're blinking" on jumprun - an interesting option / test-ground for the rest of us to find out. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

CYPRES Activation Alititude
Scrumpot replied to MakeItHappen's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Are you absolutely certain of this? Aren't you really though, just telling the unit that "the ground at my landing zone is XX feet higher (or lower) than where I took off" - so the NET affect is that the unit will also interpret 300ft AGL (the bottom end) just that much higher (or lower) as a result too? I just want to be SURE, absolutely clear is all - so this is a QUESTION, not a "challenge". TIA for all the granular/detailed information & consideration(s) being shared on here! EDIT TO ADD: P.S. - I am/was referring to the Cypres (the title of the thread). I note however you are referring in your response though - to the Vigil. So they may be different, and I understand that. Again - just to be absolutely sure we are all perfectly clear. - THANKS!! coitus non circum - Moab Stone -
Another interesting aspect is that for mounting options, the VIRB also offers "industry standard" (read: GoPro base) mount compatibility options as well. So for those who already have GoPro mount-bases affixed to their helmet tops, NO NEED TO REMOVE/SWAP or ADD ANYTHING ADDITIONAL/EXCESSIVE OR NEW either. - Interesting.

Trust me - grimmie just gave you some useful information too. Although it is clear you are not searching for any REAL answers. Platitudes will get you far. Good luck with those. coitus non circum - Moab Stone -
Canon EOS SL1 (smallest dslr) and T5i Released

Using that same resource, make sure you also thoroughly check out their found list of "cons" also HERE And make sure some of those things, are not also possible deal-breakers for you as well. For instance - noted lack of weather-sealing. If you plan to use your set-up professionally, and one inadvertent jaunt through some "industrial haze" has real potential to take you out of the rotation... well then... 4fps might not seem like a bad "trade-off" either, until you start comparing your exit & opening shots packages being provided, versus the other guys shooting 6-8 fps, etc. Just some added thought material fodder is all. ...As I sit here rubbing my sore neck from this past weekend as well! coitus non circum - Moab Stone -
I don't. Nor do I think it needs "accommodating". OK, so what sort of "exception" then, do you suggest? "Accommodation" via rule change that affects (and liquidates/allows massive "escape" loopholes for) the masses, is a far cry from allowing specific, singular, one-off small dropzones under your scenario to be allowed to make an exception - and IMO in any case, is not the answer. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

You did not get banned for "supporting the skyhook". You got "banned" for rather shouting from the rooftops that a certain DZ, and their practices were blatantly "unsafe" because they refused to employ them & equip on your say-so, skyhooks - on all their student gear. BIG DIFFERENCE. Just to not let you get away with your continual (ad nauseum) bogus attempts at revisionist history. coitus non circum - Moab Stone -
Sometimes it is all in just the frame/shutter timing. This was such a brief, truly "snapshot", the very next frame was almost all the way "back where everything belonged" with no ill effect to the student's exit whatsoever. Totally surprised me only later on, when I was going through my shots from the weekend & came across this! coitus non circum - Moab Stone

Here's a shot I took just this past weekend, of a new, and innovative reserve-side, out of the King Air AFF exit grip technique, being applied/employed! coitus non circum - Moab Stone

You mean, that there is an actual expectation of renewing members (coaches) be fully honest in making their statements of "rating" renewal eligibility? Okay, sorry - I'm jaded on the entire subject matter before we even begin to discuss its merits - let alone now, its (definitional minutiae) - and renewal process/"certification" nuances. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

Relatively short clip, so maybe it is not fully "representative", but... I don't see a lot head movement going on from the POV at all - rather, what looks to me like a whole lot of "target fixation". Once glance up & to the left, another up & to the right (looking for front-riser loops?), but not much more. Why weren't location & direction of all these other canopies, including the "offending" one already located and their (and your potential or not intersecting paths) identified well before this? This canopy just suddenly "appearing" (and surprising you?) in your direct path (fixated on?) is also - at least from what I can see in this very short clip, a very real part of the problem here as well. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

You didn't "actually just finally come across it" - It was pointed out to you. You're welcome. coitus non circum - Moab Stone -
Way MORE people throughout the history of this sport have been injured, or put themselves into very BAD situations for exactly the opposite. - - - Because they were AFRAID (or to be "nice" maybe - hesitant) to use their EP's/pull their handles. - Glad that you, with this - were not that guy. You did the right thing. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

AVIATION WEATHER Input your nearest region, then reporting station(s), then - go from there. BTW, also just answered this last night in fact - similarly, in THIS thread. It is right now even, only like 2 posts down the menu in "general" from your very post as well! coitus non circum - Moab Stone -
AVIATION WEATHER Hands-down, THE most comprehensive, single-resource (compiled from several) and RELEVANT (includes things all these OTHER services mentioned do NOT - like cloud ceilings, visibility, etc.) page, IMO available. You will need to know or determine which reporting station codes are most relevant to your selected/desired DZ (for instance, for Chambersburg, PA - I typically 1st check Martinsburg, WV actually, followed by ALSO consulting Hagerstown, MD) - then, simply GO FROM THERE! Enjoy. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

I think he was referring to the size of the hole in the roof overhang, pictured in the media report, Spot - and the assessment of the damages related to it. Not his assessment of the homeowners themselves. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

And that is exactly what is going on here/being practiced! The exit is after all, even PLANNED - the plane placed over the LZ (usually even "spotted") - and if done correctly, even trimmed/set up by the pilot for the student exit. It's not like the pilot is (or shouldn't be) actually puking an engine on climb, fighting to gain control, (potentially) pitching the aircraft, and then making the student bail out. All very real possible scenarios to occur though, and EXPECT if this really were, an actual incident. Doing this at/from 12,500 completely defeats even any (and all) of it's intended simulation effectiveness. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

He did the very same thing ...that he continues (ad nauseum) to rail about - and use every "excuse" he possibly can, to re-trench, which is all he is doing, YET AGAIN here ...back when he got "banned from AFF" by TRUMPETING that the DZ's he was going to, were all also DANGEROUS, because they refused to put SkyHooks (what he saw at the time as THE only way to be correct & "safe") ON ALL STUDENT GEAR! ...Therefore, that also, made those DZ's student centers "negligent" - (his outright accusations at the time! ), and unsafe. Nothing new here to see (or even legitimately - consider) at all, from this moron. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

Besides, the only dropzones "right there" at Petaluma - are ALL (several of them, from what I can find ) SkyRide operations anyway. No way anyone from there is ever gonna fess-up, to ANYTHING!! coitus non circum - Moab Stone

"2lb, 9-inch ZOOM lens, with an EW-83H lenshood affixed" -? Somehow I doubt that came off a skydiver/videographer at all - but who knows, there's some pretty WHACKED ideas of what makes a good sky-jumping vid/camera set-up, going on out there, after all. Carry on. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
