That's because .docx is 2007 WORD format which older WORD versions cannot read. A nice workaround that should also work on rather old computers is to install OpenOffice Not only is it completely free, but it also isn't that much hungry on RAM (no, not the canopy-related meaning...) and can handle the latest M$ office formats. And to the OP: Nice one, will share it with the guy who's doing FJC here at my DZ. It's always nice to have such a short, neat compilation handy... The sky is not the limit. The ground is. Reminds me of a T-shirt I spotted in Catholic Spain. A guy walked along with his girl friends and his Tee read in a quite tiny font: letterswallow I had to think for a moment and then chuckled... However, the best Tee reading I ever saw was a grumpy guy - with his girl friend (or wife?) walking next to him and it yelled in BIG letters from his chest: Alles Schlampen außer Mutti. (They're all bitches apart from mummy) I wonder what his girl friend/wife thought about this T-shirt and why she didn't "accidentally" had it damaged beyond repair when washing it... Maybe he has mummy wash his clothes? The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

So, we're traditionalists who go our own way and don't put on a lot of fancy airs?

Practical consideration first. You better start this way. Ethical consideration. I suspect you're trying to put your ideas that got deleted from the ladies' forum into effect again? (The "jump after a baby" thread... made me think WTFIGO for a split second, too ) The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

Good one. I really looked for an article posted by a British fellow just for confirmation of what I was taught, picked up and use, of course. (I have to admit that I picked up most of what could now be referred to as my "accent" or "variety" of English from Strine and South-Western England (Cornwall mainly)) Regarding your hotel/otel-question: There is an interesting article on BBC's website. There you can read: "One suggestion is that it touches on a long anxiety in English over the letter aitch. In the 19th Century, it was normal to pronounce hospital, hotel and herb without the h. Nowadays "aitch anxiety" has led to all of them acquiring a new sound, a beautifully articulated aitch at the beginning. America has perhaps hung on to its aitchless herb because it has less class anxiety attached to pronunciations." Interestingly enough, Americans tend to cling to older forms of pronunciation in quite a many cases. (Hence, for example, the mainly rhotic pronunciation that was the prestige pronunciation in the 17th century in England (and its colonies) whilst non-rhotic pronunciation - which was the prestige pronunciation in the late 18th century - can be found in Australia and New Zealand. I may look up an article about this topic if need be...) The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

How many of you don't jump in the cold weather?
Abedy replied to npgraphicdesign's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We do some jumps in winter here as well. Can be quite cold (-10°C on the ground, exit altitude 4000 m (~ 14.000 ft) but the only thing that would prevent me from jumping were a hangar with no heating (or no hangar at all) I have a thermosuit by Aero Suit to wear under my normal suit. See pic attached. The thermosuit is made of neopren, ~1 mm. Keeps really warm. The only secret is you must not wear any long johns etc under it but briefs and a singlet/vest. Fullface helmet, turtle-neck, X-country skiing gloves and a pair of warm socks (with normal trainers) for the rest of the body. The right gloves are important since you spend some time riding your canopy. I once jumped with my "video gloves" which (due to wear and tear) have no tips at some fingers (hope you figure out what I mean). That was bloody cold! The sky is not the limit. The ground is. It has been snowing for almost 4 weeks here. We're in the middle of western Europe, more than 500 kms from the Alps and everything is covered in white. At least it hasn't been that freezing cold all time, there were some "warmer" episodes with temps at around the freezing point. The streets are a mess, parking is even worse. Side-walks? Vanished. You call for snow ploughs? Hah! Take your own snow pusher and get your ride free, that's a good warm-up in the morning. In the centre of town? Anyway, budget's tight, so stop moaning! People here have really had it. I'm looking forward to the "between-the-years" holiday on Mallorca. Guess why The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

If you refer to Tom Anderson... I remember a discussion on the Usenet (younger readers won't have a clue and should proceed, huhu...) well, it was on alt.fan.beavis-n-butthead (the beavis-and-butthead newsgroup), and a lot of Americans mused about where Tom Anderson might be from. BTW: He was most hilarious on "Beavis and Butt-Head do America". The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

Aw... thank you so much for this colourful vocabulary to pick up I had a great time to look up the plumber's thingy. Huhuhu... That's called "Bauarbeiterdécolleté" in German (OK, we stole half of the word) which means something like "construction worker's décolleté". Which - its colourfulness and "locatedness" - comes close to "Arschgeweih" (literally: bum antlers, a lower back tatoo, exclusively for girls) since you do not really want to see any of them... "Railroad tracks" - AFAISI - are also called "Nazistreifen" (Nazi stripes) here. (According to Godwin's law, this thread is supposed to end hereby? ) Anyway, REAL MEN (tm) wear "farmer's briefs": Sun at the front, soil at the rear. To just answer the question: Daily. Ought to be clean enough. The "OMG, it's full of bacteria, gotta change 'em several times a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!eleven" thing (also called "Sagrotan parents" behaviour) is kinda ...uhm... silly since those disinfectant freax probably don't disinfect their doorhandles (etc pp) that often And if you think about saving water re showering: You may shower more than once daily... but do it with a friend then! Just skimmed the headline (thus missed an e instead of an O) and thought... WTF? OK, her dad's English or something, but do they really know her in the US? You don't miss much, IMHO, but she alway sings in English at last... Anyway, it's around this time of year: listen to it Not that much bone braking, steel bending stuff, rather gemütlich, weihnachtlich. I'm not Christian, but well, at this time of year, you can't help it... The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

Really nice one. If I understand your ...uhm... slightly *informal* remark correctly, it wasn't her first tandem jump? Anyway, very good arch, very good body position she showed both in freefall and when landing (as well as re the ever-critical exit sequence). One of our TIs did something the like here last year with his wife. Was a ten-way, IIRC. But I only have a DVD with sequences of it around here, but it was most impressive. The sky is not the limit. Lucky you. In my younger days, it was always me who got kicked out. Well, if I was 25+ again I could imagine taking her for her first jump "after" but... night tandem jumps are strictly VERBOTEN in Germany. So your idea of hitting the frog & toad (immediately after) sounds nice... but 25 years too late for me The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

Not exactly. The chin bar provides substantial protection from a blow to the face whether or not the visor is in place. Just like the "rest" of the car - without a windscreen - does But you're right. A full-face helmet without a visor is better than a leather cap with goggles when it comes to protecting the head and especially the mandible. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. There are helmets with steam/frost issues. Have you ever been in the situation where you jumped and you can not see anymore? Been there, done that and not jumping that helmet with visor in icing conditions. Funny, heh? Read my posting? The FreeZR does NOT have any foggingf/freezing issues. So I have never been there or done that and this was that, huh huh The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

German man castrates teenage daughter's 57-year-old boyfriend
Abedy replied to wayneflorida's topic in Speakers Corner
No it is not. With 17, she's almost reached the legal age of 18. Sex with under-14-year-olds is an offence/crime here. If the minor (under-18-year-old) is dependent on the other person things are different, that's an offence/crime then (e. g. teacher and student) I still don't see an issue with what the father did. As I wrote before - neither did I! The father "took the law in his own hands" - because it wasn't against the law, but didn't go with his archaic / patriarchal "values". Well, I wouldn't approve of my daughter being in a relationship with a man 40 years older than her but I wouldn't do anything like this ethnic German did. I'd ask myself what we as parents contributed to our daughter having a relationship with a man that much older... The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks -
The freefall sex should be quite a definition for "Quickie" The secret is to start in the plane. Hmmm, I wonder if the pilot would mind a portable blind in the skydivers' compartment? Huhuhu... The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

Yeah, you're THE MAN. Reminds me more than a little of this thread at WO Our workhorses here are EZ 384 by Paratec (the EZ stands for elliptical zero-porosity). They require some effort when it comes to flaring but are very reliable and work both on low-wind and high-wind days very reasonable. The new Twin Century tandem canopy by Paratec is uhm... 360 sqft AFAIK and easier to steer and flare, but as long as the old EZs do, they are used. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. Some guys I know wear full face helmets with the visor removed wearing goggles instead. To me, that's like driving a car with the windscreen removed, wearing trousers with their fly open or to read Shakespeare in the Klingon original The sky is not the limit. The ground is. There`s been nuff said about the legal age etc here in Germany. I just wanted to state the fact, that this is something really extreme and almost everybody here would never ever do something like this even if his daughter had an "older man" friend 40 years older. Things are different when it comes to people who grew up in Russia and came here on the basis that their fore-fore-fore-bearers (about 300 years ago) went from one of the German countries to Russia... No offence meant, just stating a fact. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks -
Unwarranted searches or "search without suspicion". The East German Homeland Security (that's what "Staatssicherheit" may be translated to) would have wet their pants if they had had technology like that. It's the "Who watches the watchers" question and/or the evergreen "I do not have anything to hide, so why care? But I bet drones will be shown as a very helpful source of information at the several "CSI" shades-up-and-down series and the like... 1984? Well no, it's just for SECURITY reasons! And anyway, comrade, how come you ask dangerous questions like that? And how come you refer to a book that doesn't exist! The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

You're not the first to announce this in public. Think of Eddie Izzard Citation: "He has also described himself as "a lesbian trapped in a man's body" See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Izzard The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks

Yeah, take the "law" - more: DAS GESUNDE VOLKSEMPFINDEN (righteous public feeling aka "family values") - into your own hands. Do I smell hot tar? Judge Lynch hovering around? BTW: It's not that long ago that black-white relationships were considered a crime and "brave citizens" took the law into their own hands. Well, it's unfair, I'm not American. In the history of my country, there were laws re "racial defilement", punishable by death eventually. Quite good my dad and my mum got to know each other after the war, would have got them killed in the 3rd Reich... So once again: Who decides what's punishable (and how to punish) and what's not? I'm pretty glad we have no death penalty or "armed neighbours" here. The sky is not the limit. The ground is. The Society of Skydiving Ducks
