let me start by saying that I am a big motorcycle/motocross guy and have been purchasing helmets for those sports for many years. My comparisons are based on other helmets used not for skydiving, so all jump helmets may be junk and that's just the nature of the sport. I have found nothing about my mindwarp pimpdaddy helmet that resembles a quality built helmet! The finish on the clear coat has several blemishes in it (I can deal with that) The rubber trim around the edges was wavy and obviously not glued on with care The fit was horrible! I measured my head using the website guidelines, I was right in the line between medium and large, so I selected the large. when on my head I noticed that the back upper part of the helmet was incredibly narrow. This area was pinching my head a bit too tightly. time to thermal fit the helmet. It took about 6 thermal fittings to make it not pinch (no big deal there) The internal lining is removable so I guess that is a plus. the audible pockets are a very thin material that have the coarse Velcro on the helmet side and only use the soft fabric of the liner to attach to. (Im sure this will ware out in less than 100 jumps and do a poor job of holding the ear padding in place after that. In closing, I read the reviews on this helmet and everyone speaks very highly of it. this leads me to believe 1 of 2 options has occurred. 1) most of these reviews have been written by new people in the sport who have never worn anything other than a protec helmet (thats me) 2) that this sport is surrounded by junk helmets with hefty price tags. I spent $230 with shipping and I wish I would have bought a protec, while the mindwarp may look a very little bit "cooler" it is the same quality as a 40 student helmet. maybe I should have spent 400 on a helmet and gotten quality. stay away from bonehead mindwarp, IT IS JUNK.

Hello My name is andy. I have been a lurker on the site for about 8 months. I live in the center of the usa and am selling everything I own to become a dropzone bumb! I have been to 4 different dz's and worked out of state this year and stayed at Free Fall OZ in PA for about 3 months. I love the lifestyle!!! I am going to make my move in about 12 days (I have a dirtbike race on the 14th. any riders out there?) I was pretty solid on zhills but I just heard Lodi goes to 13k for $15... whats a new jumper to do??? how hard is it to get you foot in the door as a packer? one last note, and the reason for my post! I just bought a $50 jumpsuit on ebay. im going to be making a strong fashion statement at the DZ... Orange and grey jumpsuit, carbon fiber helmet, blue purple white and turquoise rig, now all I need are some lime green shoes! im going to look like a laser show acid trip!!! I cant wait, maybe this weekend if the weather permits and the local dz fixed their cessna! Likestojump from ebay, if you read this thanks again for helping a newbie get into jumping. I hope, in time, I can give back to the sport that is dramatically and rapidly changing my life(im not sure if the change is for better or worse, but its a hell-uv alot of fun) see ya at the DZ!

Have you seen the movei "Zombie Land" Rule 4: Doubletap: Carrying a gun is a great idea but it should never be your primary weapon. When you do end up using it for that last minute 'oh shit' moment remember to double tap. Its an emergency and thats why your using it and not your cricket bat so why skimp? One bullet more in the head will go a long way to ensuring your survival.

crazycableguy replied to zaceofspades's topic in Gear and Rigging
Im an new guy here too, but with any internet purchase assume nothing. Always verify alll items included in your purchase. maybe not necessary but I feel that it is a good prictice when buying something that you have not put your hands on first! Just my 2 cents. -
Do AFF jumps count towards your A License?
crazycableguy replied to AStack75's topic in Safety and Training
more info... I started out in a different state on an IAD program and had 4 jumps. stayed at the B&B DZ where they did AFF... I did 3 tandems and then needed to do my 8hour ground course. at that time the DZ had their annual boogie (skydiving party) they had no time to spend 8 hours in the middle of a 3 day party to spend 8 hours in a classroom with me. so I did an addition tandem simply to :get my knees in the breeze" total jumps to complete aff 11, on a 9 jump course (not including my additional tandem joyride) total number of jumps to complete my A licence; 32 -
Do AFF jumps count towards your A License?
crazycableguy replied to AStack75's topic in Safety and Training
I only have 39 jumps, so from one newb to another. If the weather permits just GO JUMP. once you finally start AFF, the wind will pick up, low ceiling, or some other factor will prevent a willing student! GO JUMP any time you can. I had lots of cash last summer, Lived at a small DZ bed and breakfast for 3 months. DZO and Pilot lived on sight too. I never refused a jump and only got 31 jumps all summer due to weather or some other factor out of my control. the fastest way to get your A licence is to forget about the A licence and start jumping now! (remember this; an A licence is only a licence to begin learning) at my 39 jumps I know just a little bit more than you know now, come jump, its fun!
