parachute rigging question/prizes awarded!
packman replied to GroundZero's topic in Gear and Rigging
Because most reserves don't have d-bag attachment points. - Dan G ___________________________________________________ if you want to jump a reserve that doesn't have an attachment point , hook it up as a main canopy, pack it into a static line d-bag and do a static line jump. -

if your worried about mismatched sizes between your main and reserve making your rig look out of preportion, try a Wings container. A friend of mine had one made for him with a Tempo 250 , and a Icarus 119.looks really good, by looking at it you cant tell were the reserve ends and the main begins when its closed.

hey Ann , is the thread bunching up under the machine where the bobbin is or is it bunching up under the material ? could be a number of things that would cause this. wrong size needle out of time threaded through machine wrong bobbin in correctly hard to tell you without looking at the machine, but check these things first.

Been checking the automated weather system at Byron airport all morning. Still too windy to jump.... 10:30 12knots/15 gusts 11:30 11knots/15 gusts 12:00 9 knots/ 20 gusts 12:25 12knots / 17 gusts sounds like its time for a cross country jump !!!

question # 1 : yes you can use a perm. marker to mark your lines, have a rigger watch you to make sure you mark them correctly. question # 2 : have your rigger use a perm. marker to mark your kill-line on your PC. only takes a minute to do and will take your worry away that you have wondering if it is cocked or not !

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The rig the instructor was using was borrowed, and the previous owner didn't think to mention that the spandex on the BOC pouch was loose. The owner knew to fold to handle that, the instructor folded the PC as he normally did. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- sounds to me like that the owner should have had that BOC pouch replaced along time ago , instead of folding his PC a certain way so it wont deploy prematurely ! this is a good example of WHY you should keep your equipment properly mantained. things could have turned out alot worse than they did.

ex-AIR FORCE Rigger ! was stationed at Pope AFB NC, Kadena AB Okinawa Japan, and Holloman AFB ,NM. worked on almost every type of military parachute.back , seat , chest (all rounds) and also freefall rigs(square) . right now i'm a truck driver (full time) and a part-time rigger (the only one) for a small DZ (place not big enough yet for full time employment ).future plans are to be a full time rigger at a DZ or manufacturing company.

old Don is still making those commercials !

there are only two manufacturers that i know of that still like to flat-pack reserves , strong and para-flite . all military freefall reserves are flat- packed. both packing techniques work fine , the outcome is the same , a fast opening canopy !
