The major dropzones near San Francisco are: Bay Area Skydiving (King Air) Skydance Skydiving (PAC) Adventure Center Skydiving (King Air) Parachute Center (Otters, Beach 99) You'll have to call around Skydance and Parachute center have active 4way teams, don't think the other two currently have active teams. During the summer most weekends are jumpable, Bay Area Skydiving can get very windy, be prepared for 20kts at times. I would personally stay out of Oakland, Alameda is nice, there is also a Ferry service from Alameda to San Francisco

we had a pretty good outage last week. I was watching BGP for a few hours then said fuck it and went to sleep. Ebay was unreachable for quite a few hours from my location, no matter which route was active traceroute timed out.

I have been told the reason that soft reserve handles came into use is that (especially in FL where there are grass landing areas) people would frequently jump barefoot, and launching a sit-train there were instances where someones toe would get caught in the (hard) reserve handle, subsequentially "zapping" them. this seems to be a "similar" case and would indicate a completely soft reserve pillow as the "optimal" solution, I'm not an instructor, rigger or have any qualifications whatsoever, plus I'm an asshole -

Lemme check something. You're profile lists Carolina Sky Sports as your home DZ, yet you say that you are from a small DZ. WTF?

did you find that unstowing the brakes helped in any way? -
yeah but the PAC has had rudder authority issues on a couple of loads I've been on, hopefully with the higher tail on the Kodiak it won't have the same issues.
