    Really? That's interesting....I'll have to tell my mom that. She actually collects indian artifacts! when i get home i'll dig thru my library and tell you which one... for the longest time i used to play outside during thunderstorms so as to have an excuse for my behavior edit: i did have lightning hit a tree about a 100yds away while i was out riding, wasnt even a thunderstorm yet. just getting cloudy..horse thru me and took off, luckily he stopped about a 1/4 mile away or i'd have had a looong walk back.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    on a somewhat related note, i heard yesterday of a plan to turn a good bit of eastern WA's public land into NP land. While this may seem like a great idea to many (non-BASE jumpers) it could very well 'take away' use of that land given the NPS stance. i'm trying to find out more info on exact areas (to see what might be affected) and how when the meetings are scheduled. It might be a good opportunity to get the "fair use" issue in the public eye. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    ok how about two arrows with the same crossection (ie two divers with equal size/techniques) but one wieghs more?? thats why i asked about weight belts. seems they would give you an advantage (unless they were so large as to increase your crossection) since there is no other way to increase your mass.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    ROTFLMAO... of course you can be a smart ass, so long as you are legally correct, and you've got a third observer to back you up (video cameras in squad cars are excellent witnesses) there is at least one county sherriff (and probably his boss who had to sit in court with him, while he was shown to be a arrogant & harrasing dipshit) in TX who wishes he'd simply answered my questions when he pulled me over and gave me a speeding ticket based on observations and measurements he could not have possible made ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    i would imagine that if any given activity were not exciting enough for an individual, they would continue to find ways to push the envelope that makes it exciting or find another activity... if you come down from a jump completely stoked (for whatever reason, great dive, low pull, nice swoop) you probably continue in that fashion, if not you keep pushing until you find your level (or something stops you) ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    It is. The people that do the *real* speed skydiving aren't HUGE people, they're normal sized jumpers and they're getting up around 300mph+! true however weight as a proportion of surface area has ALOT to do with speed, so given the same technique (to minimize surface area and disturbance) the heavier person will fall faster... wonders if weight belts are common in speed competitions. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
