    I have no hope of enlightening those like Bill Cole, RonD or Coreese. I do think that this type of debate can sway some in the middle. It is admittedly annoying to a lot of people, and there are undoubtedly better ways of swaying the opinions of those on the fence. The intent is to get people to think for themselves. If someone says something ridiculous, expect me to ridicule it...it might wake a few people up. At the very least, I get to express my frustration with what I see as something that is harmful to us as humans. Doesn't matter...I'm not the one trying to convince people that my imaginary friend is real and that everyone should worship him. While we're at it, there is such a thing as reality, and it exists regardless of our "take" on it.     I agree and have also found it true. Speaking of coping mechanisms, I used to use alcohol and drugs to cope with my anger. What do you use as a coping mechanism to deal with your anger?     In many cases, a christian's former "fucked-up life" was actually considered normal in the sight of the world and pop culture. edited for shpelling... man, ever since I've been playing scrabble more often, my spelling went to shite....what's up with that? Brings up another point...Most people I know who were "saved" as adults got "saved" during periods of extreme stress in their lives.     yep, the most common being religious leaders. Some are easy to spot...others not so much. You're earlier phrase "gullible athiests" is laughable compared to what "religious people" have been duped into believing. If you can convince them to believe in things like gods and devils, you can use them as you wish. They become tools. Consider that if it was the truth that the religious were spewing, it would stand up to simple scrutiny, critical thinking and skepticism.
