  1. I get about 100 skydiving pictures on my 256mb. I think I would rather have two 256 cards then one 512. You can download from one while using the other. Also, I've tried different speed cards and I honestly can't see a difference with my 10D. I know everyone says speed of the card is so important, but they all seem to provide the exact same fps speed. Does anyone have any concrete evidence to the contrary?
  2. Why not? I have three of them, including a camera suit and they're great.
  3. Also, the amount of remaining pictures shown will vary according to your settings (iso, etc.)
  4. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=619916 and http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=667508 that's all I've seen on it so far
  5. There's an extension cord for the remote release. ET-1000N3 it's about 33 ft. long though so..... http://www.canoncompanystore.com/cgi-bin/annex.storefront
  6. Alpha 94 and Viper 120 both with beautiful consistently smooth, soft openings that I trust my neck to.
  7. I had two consecutive switches go bad on me at Rantoul. One lasted two days, the other a day. They seem to be changing the way they make them. I've had three so far and they were all a little different. The first was enclosed entirely with rubber and did not have any sort of tactile "click" when pressed (the only way you knew it worked was if you could hear or feel the camera). It worked for over a year. The first one I got at Rantoul had an exposed button in the middle (you could see metal between the red button and the surrounding rubber) and you could feel it click. That one lasted about two days. The second one, a replacement for the first, was similar to the very first one I had (entirely enclosed with rubber), had a tactile click to it, and failed almost immediately when tiny pinholes in it allowed spit to short it out. I'm a bit hesitant to buy another until I'm certain they've worked out the bugs. It's funny that the very first one I had, presumably the oldest, worked the longest. I've since sent a PM to the Conceptus nick on these forums but have yet to recieve a reply
  8. very cool thanks for the link! so much to learn.....
  9. care to elaborate some more on this technique? specifically as it applies to the 10D still getting to know mine
  10. hmm.... maybe I shoulda made sure I had a spare before I posted. wonder if we're boggling the minds of the canon people... selling two remote adapters for every camera sold
  11. pity it doesn't fix your white balance
  12. try the adapter part number RA-N3.. it adapts the t type release to the n type or something, but the key is that it has the correct plug on one end and the other just gets trashed anyway right? I got one for $43.95 from B&H. I'm counting on it working because I have to replace one that was given to me.
  13. well who can argue against simplifying chinese?!
  14. just thought I'd pass this on since I hadn't heard it mentioned here....... Canon has a firmware update for the 10D (ver. 1.0.1) that can be found here: http://www.powershot.com/powershot2/customer/firmware.html
  15. I haven't had my 10D for very long but.... I bought a 40X lexar card for it and paid a premium. I've since tried other cards (about half the price) 4X or something and had identical results. If you hold down the shutter, you get nine shots at 3 frames per second. This goes into the buffer of the camera. Continuing to hold the button produces ~1 shot per second with any of the cards I've tried. It's been explained to me that the cards are now faster than the cameras and that the speed of the card matters only with a select few cameras, the 10D not being one of them
  16. I just picked one up from here: http://www.inoax.com/viewitem.php?IndexID=4149&RefTag=nextag it arrived with all parts/accessories retail box, etc... the one you're looking at is probably a 'grey market' camera.. just the body, no manuals/straps/warranty... I also bought the Sigma 14 locally. Looks to result in a slightly wider view than the 28mm on my film camera. should be good, but you can't put an external filter on it
  17. I have witnessed, and been involved in, several CReW jumps using a PD Spectre. PD won't put a retract on it for you, but that's not to say your local rigger couldn't
  18. http://lea.hamradio.si/~s51kq/DV-IN.HTM http://ns.sps.volyne.cz/set1394/ These, and other sites you can find by searching, discuss how to "re-program" your camera to accept dv-in through your fire-wire. I have no need (unless someone finds out how to switch a camera from NTSC to PAL and back) so I haven't done it myself, and don't know the specifics, but apparently it can be done. From what I understand, concerns about copyright protection prompted regulations on PAL cameras to disable the dv-in feature.
