  1. If in fact there was damage to the farmers tractor, the damage can be paid by your USPA Membership (provided that you are a USPA Member). You should file a claim if appropriate. Mike Mullins USPA National Director

  3. Yes Mullins does not slow down, its all high speed baby. Did a peel out and downer not a jump up and present. I absolutely slow down as slow as possible for every jump and I can say with confidence that no one slows down any more than I do and I take pride in giving each jumper the best exit possible. The wingsuits usually go out last and I am at 62 knots when they go out the door. No one is ever allowed to exit until the airspeed is at 85 knots or less, 85 knots is for the big ways (can't get any slower with with a lot of weight aft). As the groups go out, the airspeed is constantly reduced until the last go out at 62. The left engine is at idle the entire time so all wind is airspeed and not prop blast. I have no idea where you get the idea that I do not slow down but it is entirely incorrect. Mike Mullins King Air Pilot with 30,000 loads flown
  4. By the way: WHY is it forbidden to jump from experimental aircraft? And I also don't understand the reason for rules like for the AN-2. You can fly it here but not jump it?? It is forbidden to jump from experimental aircraft because it is forbidden to jump from experimental aircraft. If you are trying to make sense of some FAR's you are in a losing game. We are lucky in the USA as we are allowed to fly experimental aircraft with few restrictions. As to when and how the jump prohibition came into law, that is a mystery. Mike
  5. Mike, sorry, you are incorrect. reference : http://www.an2flyers.org/an2faq.html QUOTE : The AN-2 is a popular jump plane in several other countries. The Russians used it as a paratroop transport. The FAA has, to date, been pretty consistant about prohibiting parachuting from the An-2. One An-2 known to Dragon Aviation is certified for sky-diving at air shows ONLY as part of a show routine. Since the jumpers were intended to be part of the An-2's show, this was okay. However, flying paying jumpers; from a commercial sky-dive facility would not be okay. Hollywood has used an An-2 in a recent Chuck Norris movie in which stunt men were karate'd and fell to their death (parachuted) out the door. This has been done through special; certificate waivers issued for one time use for films and stunts. Sorry, I am not incorrect. The FAR's, just as I stated, do not allow skydiving operations from experimental aircraft, no exceptions. If the FAA wishes to issue a waiver to a certain operator, they are free to do so as the FAA can waiver anything it wishes. This does not change the FARs. Mike
  6. Billy, Africa is a lot of countries. Often the less developed a country, the more stringent the rules. For example, Mexican aircraft have far more rules placed on them than USA aircraft. Mike
  7. Most other countries have even more stringent rules than the USA. Good luck.
  8. You cannot make an intentional parachute jump from an experimental aircraft in the USA. There are no exceptions, it is forbidden by the FAR's. Other than that, the CompAir 7, 8, or 10 would be great jumplanes. Mike Mullins

  10. The Esprit, from Glidepath, replaced the ill-fated Nova. The Nova tended to collapse in turbulence, especially the smaller ones. As a result of the Nova problems, the Esprit was designed to be rock solid in turbulence. They are excellent canopies and perform better than their contemporaries, the Sabres. Mike Mullins

  14. Just for clarification, you are not talking about Mike Mullins King Air. The system that I supply works perfectly. It is a very expensive demand system that supplies 100% oxygen and is certified to 42,000'. Thanks, Mike
  15. Billy, Just for clarification on altitude, the jumps previously in question were actually done from FL300 (Flight Level 300) which indicates 30,000' on the aircraft altimeter with the barometric pressure of 29.92" set in the aircraft altimeter. Unless the barometric pressure at the time of jump is actually 29.92", the actual altitude of the jump above sea level will be different, which is why Eddie's tandem jump was from 30,200' above sea level but made at FL300. That is why we have been able to make jumps as high as 30,500' above sea level at still the same FL300. A couple of years ago, the FAA adopted RVSM (Reduced Vertical Separation Minimums) which changed the vertical separation of aircraft at FL290 and above from 2,000' to 1,000'. Along with this change came mandated altimetry and autopilot equipment that is expensive and not available for the King Air 90 series aircraft. There is not even a hint of interest in manufacturing this equipment as stock King Air 90's never operate this high, nor can they even get this high on a practical basis. We still are able to do jumps from FL300 at some locations, most notably Rantoul at the WFFC. However, at West Tennessee Skydiving in Memphis we are, at this time, limited to FL280 although we are working on authorization to go to FL300. So, if you come to Memphis, the jump will be from FL280. The FL280 jump costs $350 and all training and equipment is supplied by Kevin Holbrook from HaloJumper.com. The next jump is scheduled for Sunday, June 1st, with a weather date of Monday, June 2nd. Mike Mullins
  16. Eddie, Just to clarify, you were supplied with oxygen on the aircraft. You did not use oxygen in freefall (which you found was not a wise choice). Yes, this is the highest I know of a Tandem without freefall oxygen and before everyone goes ballistic over endangering a tandem student, the passenger was an experienced jumper. Mike
  17. I'm pretty sure that'll do it. I believe the world record was done out of Mullins' King Air and that Fast Eddie Grantland was the TM. Don't remember the height though. Billy, There have been many Tandems made at West Tennessee Skydiving from Mike Mullins Super King Air at 30,000' with numerous Tandem Instructors including Jeff Mullins, Joel Mullins, Kevin Holbrook, Ben Crowell, and others. All of these Tandems have been with first jump tandem students. The Tandem with Fast Eddie was at a lower altitude. The aircraft is capable of going much higher but we are limited to a maximum of 30,000' by the maximum certified altitude restriction in the FAA Approved Flight Manual. We have never claimed any of these as a "world record" as I simply do not know if there have been higher. i do know that we have done more Tandems from 30,000' than anyone and I do certainly know that the claims from two other "unnamed" drop zones that they do the "worlds highest tandems from 18,000' " and the "worlds highest jumps from 18,000' " are simply untrue hype that they insist on propagating even after they have been informed of the truth. Such is the present state of skydiving that outright lies are accepted as "advertising". Mike Mullins West Tennessee Skydiving http://www.SkydiveKingAir.com
  18. John, I have checked your membership status and you are a member. I doubt that USPA has not mailed your card, it may have been lost in the mail. I cannot answer why they have not answered your email but that may be an email issue. I will make sure that a replacement card is sent to you on Monday.
