Here's a couple that I like

A word of caution if you tape down the flash and then find yourself in a situation when the flash tries to pop up it will screw up and strip the mechanism

Bollocks The dangers from jumping camera have very little to do with weight & camera size. It’s to do with ability and skill. Whether you are using the camera as a flight recorder (no such thing everyone tries for the shot) or trying to get planed footage you still are using brain cells that up until then are used to keep you alive. Instead of looking at the fatalities think about all the near misses I am sure you all have seen them. I have seen a few new camera people get them selves into very dangerous situations and only by pure luck (not ability) did it not end with a disastrous outcome. John

Your question would lead one to assume you have already got the video into the computer from the camera if so send it back through the camera to a vcr. However if you want to know how to get it into and out of the computer you need to supply more info. Has the computer got fire wire Have you an editing program What camera have you John

Try connecting the camera to the laptop and switching it on before you turn on the laptop. Then when the laptop starts up it should recognise the camera as a new dv device. Keep the camera on and start Premiere and see if you can capture video. Hope this helps John

To do anything only occasionally is bad drills You will do it 99 times out of 100 unnecessarily but rest assured you will not do it the one time it counts and you really need too. Stick to doing the same drill all the time. You know it make sense John

I am both camera & Ti and when I jump tandem it’s my decision who lurks the jump. I don't allow jumpers out of my line of sight at pull time I want to see everybody that’s in the sky so I don’t get any nasty surprises. I have no problems with jumpers that I trust docking but on the student never me. At the weekend we built a nice 4 way tandem dive 5 if you count me the Ti everyone done as briefed and the student was blown away. Likewise when doing camera I would never dream of telling another Ti who can or cannot jump with us it’s up to him and as for the Ti pointing at lurkers we have enough to do without that. just my view John

Why not get in touch with flitesuit and ask what the deal is instead of looking for advice on DIY fixes. You paid the money and should expect the service

It might be a rendering problem. As said above capture the footage using premiere at normal speed then right click on the clip in the timeline you want to change the speed off. Depending how good the footage is you should be able to slow it to 30% without losing quality. Then delete the sound part of the clip & replace with music. You need to save this then render it. On the tool bar select Timeline > render work area then when you export this it should be fine What version of Premiere are you using Hope this helps John

Export from Windows XP Preimere 6.5/7.0 to DVtape?
oldgit replied to PD126r's topic in Photography and Video
Hiya Dave what about ya. Halvor Dave’s right you need to give more info on your set up however if it’s taking a long time to render it’s probably because your capture setting are different from your export setting you need to keep these the same. Also when you load your project settings at the start choose the standard that suits your camera ie Pal or ntsc For instance I use Pal frame size 720 x 576 Frame rate 25 Quality 100% Audio 32 or 48 khz If you use different setting for both input and output you will have to render the entire project Hope this helps John -
exporting from pc to DV with premiere. Help.
oldgit replied to spencer's topic in Photography and Video
After you render your project safe it then shut down the computer This clears the ram and will free up the computer. Also make sure you have no virus software or screen saver running When you restart the computer and open your project it should then export ok -
I’m old school using 35mm film You set up the kit then get in the right place then when you see the shot take it. ( skill required ) Now it seems all you have to do is throw lots of money at a digital camera that can take lots of shots per second and pick the one you think is best ( minimal skill ) All I read now is how may frames a second the camera can take not the skill that is needed to take a great picture

Hiya Dave I'm still bluffing my way about. Hanson also did a helmet with a recovery system. (It wasn't bad spotting but bad canopy control honest)
-
I had a system like this about 7 years ago where the pilot chute was attached by a bridle to the helmet and stowed in its own freebag which became the pading in the roof of the the helmet. Worked great on the ground never needed it in the air. How ever my thought was not to save the cameras but to slow down and make visible the falling helmet. If your helmet kills someone I dont think your house insurance will cover it John

Come on guys surly some of you are using the Coolpix 5000. What settings do you find works best for tandems John
-
I have just bought a Coolpix 5000 can anyone tell me the best settings for the camera. Grateful for any help John
-
The BPA ops manual states "Cameras may only be used by FAI C (red) parachutists" I would take that to mean any type of camera. HTH John
-
A cutaway system on camera helmets is not mandatory in the UK although some DZ make it a local rule John
-
Thanks Guys John

I am thinking of getting a Nikon Coolpix 5000 but have heard that there can be a problem with the auto focus when you press the button there is a delay while the camera tries focus can the camera be set on manual focus Is there any known issues with this camera Many thanks John
