  1. As I understand it, there are sensors on the ground as well as on the aircraft itself. For the ground tests, they were checking on engine noise (for noise abatement rules) and then again in flight. There are sensors on the engines to measure the noise as well as outside. The tests will (I'm assuming they were done yesterday) be done with the stairs on and also off. One test will involve flying with the stairs off at 300kts, although this is not a speed that would be flown in 'real life' with the stairs off. Yes the test flights and such are definitely costing in the fuel area which shows Perris' dedication to gettting this done. I will try to get more info today as my time permits...Trying to get packed up to leave tomorrow, fix a client issue (ID 10 T for the techies) and get out on a cycle ride with friends. As long as I can get a cell signal, I can post updates from the road, I'll just pull over to do these. Journey safe all~ ----- ~~~Michael
  2. Scam? I hate marketing spin. Check the other thread in bonfire where all the information I have goes. Read the thread in bonfire. I'm a computer guy, not a shrink. And I didn't stay at a holiday inn express last night so I didn't absorb shrink knowlege. Had you advised me before hand... ----- ~~~Michael
  3. Today (July 15th) the Perris jet will be doing some additional flight tests to measure noise as requested by the FAA. The tests will include flights with the airstair on and off. The rest of the weekend will be spent compiling the results and then hand delivering to the FAA office on Monday at 9AM. I have been advised that the FAA has approved overtime to get this accomplished. On Thursday the Perris jet will reposition itself to Rantoul (with a little help from the guys up front I assume). Unless there are no more requests from the FAA, this should be the final step. Passing along what I know... ----- ~~~Michael
  4. Passed back. In between flights and no Eric, you will never ever catch me. ----- ~~~Michael
  5. Day bands are $20. All the info I've got, gotta run for now. ----- ~~~Michael
  6. I'm gonna check to see if I can post via my blackberry later. Who knows, i might have a better geek toy than I thought. ----- ~~~Michael
  7. just got a call that I'll have new info on Friday at 2PM CST. I will post as soon as I'm able. I've got a breakfast, lunch and dinner client(s) meeting before running to the airport to get out of Houston. If you don't see something by 7PM CST, you won't see it till after midnight MST when I get home and plugged in. ----- ~~~Michael
  8. Unfortunately I didn't make the rules on this one. check your PMs for a note. ----- ~~~Michael
  9. almost. I'm flying out tomorrow night. Had I not had a dinner appointment tonight I would have driven out. I'm flying out tomorrow night (Friday) and then leaving for Rantoul on Monday. Stupid client stuff is getting in the way of my fun. ----- ~~~Michael
  10. Dude - You said you had my back. I guess that meant 'back home'. I'll get an answer for this. ----- ~~~Michael
  11. DOH!...I knew I forgot something this week. I'm in Houston through tomorrow. Done with client stuff for the most part and I could have made the trip. ----- ~~~Michael
  12. Same as yours - 50/50. Either we will or we won't. I spoke to the operator today and got a bunch of information and they asked me not to post any of it right yet. The FAA is watching these threads, Skydiving Mag and Parachutist so they know everything that is going on so to avoid any potential complications, they've asked not to post more than it's still in the FAAs hands at this point. Update on Nigeria too, I've managed to convince the powers that be to have a departure date of at least August 1st so I can have some fun before I head around the world. ----- ~~~Michael
  13. I'm leaving monday to head down the hill towards rantoul. Scary, I live just below jump run of most dropzones . 1000 bottles of beer on the wall, 1000 bottles of beer... ----- ~~~Michael
  14. No job is worth that shit. What the hell would you EVER go back there for??? Heading back to implement the suggested infrastructure changes from my initial trip in December. I've been watching the headlines on the daily happening there and there is an exit plan in place if things get out of control in the country - helo, airplane and boat. Life is an adventure and somethings are just a bit riskier than others. This is definitely on that line. ----- ~~~Michael
  15. So, are you going to be visiting the son of the late president to discuss your assistance in transferring a large amount of money somewhere? Nah, will be discussing how to bring Major Abach Tunde out of orbit. In reality, the place scares the crap out of me. Only place I've ever been where I've had to bribe customs and immigration to get out of the country. ----- ~~~Michael
  16. So when will they be making their decision? Something was supposed to happen yesterday (Monday). I'm awaiting a reply to an email. I'm in meetings all day but I'll see if I can squeeze something in here if I get a reply. Planning a trip to Nigeria, a place I have absolutely no desire to go to again - potentially leaving in the middle of the WFFC. ----- ~~~Michael
  17. Thanks Peter. It was fun. Sat next to someone on the flight from IAH to DFW tonight that saw the piece. You know when you're getting the stare like someone knows who you are? Yeah, that one. I pulled out the lappy and played the spot for her and she was going to look into AirTroductions when she got home. ----- ~~~Michael
  18. You should have heard the things I said that they cut. ----- ~~~Michael
  19. I'll get in trouble if I make a political statement here so I'll digress. I'm tired anyway. ----- ~~~Michael
  20. I'll explain my brief absence as a 'bomb' that went off at the client's site. I've been up since Thursday early and I just walked in the door, but alas, I do have Jet noise to pass along. Today (Yesterday - Friday is when it happend)...Several test drops occurred followed by several test dummies*. The test drops were successful and the operators are compiling all the data to put into reports for the FAA to review. The decision is 100% in the FAA's hands at this point to review and decide. The operator has jumped through every hoop that the FAA put forth. I will be getting some images of the festivities from the test drops and will post them as soon as I have them. *note: the test dummies included Cajones Rodriguez plus two others. All volunteer for brain removal while they were tossed. ----- ~~~Michael

  23. This is incorrect, but a common misperception. If you receive goods or services for any donation, it is not tax deductible. You can claim it, but if you get audited, it will not fly. Donation goes directly to the charity and Don offers the ride as an enticement. The ride isn't on the receipt - don't ask, don't tell. You can not legally jump the jet or the L39.... Don't ask don't tell?? LA LA LA LA LA LA LA...I never heard anything. ----- ~~~Michael
