  1. Gary - Can you chime in and just confirm this? I was not involved in 1997 so I would not be able to confirm nor deny that this happened. ----- ~~~Michael
  2. LMAO...no. I worked in Denver for 12 years and have various contacts still around town. ----- ~~~Michael
  3. send me your resume and what you're looking for. I know a few people. ----- ~~~Michael
  4. This thread works as good as any. ----- ~~~Michael
  5. Derek and Kelli are Texans!! Plus i never spent a lot of time in Denver but i fell in love with Boulder when i was there. I would definately consider living there if i ever had the opportunity to. A few slip through the cracks at the border ever once in a while... ----- ~~~Michael
  6. Shhhh...you're only supposed to say that to the Californians and Texans. ----- ~~~Michael
  7. If you want to meet up for a welcome beer late friday night, my flight gets in at 10:40PM. I'm a little bit more to the west. The hills didn't scare me when I got to denver. ----- ~~~Michael
  8. With or without scuba gear? ----- ~~~Michael
  9. I just need to find it. I have no idea where it got tucked away too. Or look for the purple sombrero. I fit under that one as well and it provides an excellent umbrella when it's raining. ----- ~~~Michael
  10. >I'm thinking of going to the WFFC next year... is it safe.. fun? Safe is a relative term - you're skydiving aren't you? It's a larger boogie and it will have it's quirks. I've seen more quirks at smaller DZs, but I've also seen more at larger DZs, even at places that people think are 'the safest dropzone ever'. >What's the deal? Is it just a bunch of drunken drugged up yahoo's trying to kill me and themselves? An old AFF instructor told me this 'just like driving, everyone is out to get you. Keep your head on a swivel and don't get fixated on what's directly in front of you. You are responsible for you. Take care of that.' >Is it the best time I will ever have skydiving in my whole life? God I hope not, but you'll have fun. Any boogie is what you make of it. If you're not having fun, you're not doing something right. I met some people this WFFC that I personally haven't ever seen before. Good friends and new places to visit are in my future. >The epitimy of boogie safety? Like I said above, watch out for yourself. People will complain like the WFFC has absolutely no 'safety' what so ever. I've been to smaller DZs with only a cessna and all 4 jumpers in the 182 went different directions on landing and then all bitched at eachother for not following the pattern. I've been to larger DZs with the same issues and worse. Land out if you want. It's not that bad of a walk and some of us could probably use the exercise anyway. ----- ~~~Michael
  11. Makes sense...So plan better? I got lucky. The only flight I could get into Chicago gave me 2.5 hours to get through O'hare to the Amrak and grab food. Got to Union Station with about an hour to spare... ----- ~~~Michael
  12. My second trip back included a flight into O'hare, an El ride to downtown, then a short walk to the Amtrack that dropped me off in Rantoul. Amtrak was only $16 one way and the El was $1.75. Had pre-arranged a ride from the Amtrak stop to the DZ, but that wasn't that big of a deal. Hit me up next year and I can get you going the right direction. BTW, the Amtrak was much better than driving - no traffic. ----- ~~~Michael
  13. Yeah, but having lived in IL for many years, september generally blew but was good for cross countrys. ----- ~~~Michael

  16. I generally get the attention of the flight attendents...Happy FA, Happy Flight ----- ~~~Michael
  17. that's funny. I dont think it would fly today. people lost their senseof humor I fly too much so I generally get upgraded to the front of the bus in the big seats. The flight I was on from St Louis to Dallas was full of business people in dockers and polos to suits. Here I am with my WFFC hat on, TShirt with a couple dirt stains, Tevas and 'black' feet from roving around. One guy makes a comment about 'those people' taking advantage of the airlines mistake and getting the big kid seats. In the middle of this were two flight attendant who basically said 'ummmm...sir...His status is higher than yours.' the guy shut up. ----- ~~~Michael
  18. From what I've seen, put Dixie (from the FAA) on the task. ----- ~~~Michael
  19. Well let's see it Firewire cable is in my camera bag in my gear box still in Rantoul that will (hopefully or someone's gonna get hurt) end up at a friends house, then on a uhaul headed back to CO. I did bring the charger though just in case the batter got low ----- ~~~Michael

  21. There was another jumper on the flight into Houston but I think I would have lost my slot on the plane. ----- ~~~Michael
  22. October is a long way away - you never know what can happen between now and then, right? ----- ~~~Michael
  23. Cloud cover came in so we decended a layer of clouds to find a hole. Found it and off we went. First jet load I was on (Tuesday) was from 14,300'. ----- ~~~Michael
