I disagree. Both my wife and I feel the DZ is a SPECTACULAR place to expose a child to people from all walks of life and cultures. Is there some "bad" sure, but there's that in everything...it's the parents job to help the child filter that out. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

I agree that it's the DZO's call, my experiences have always been that DZ's are R rated. I'm sure there are those out there that aren't but I'd bet they're few and far between. Nope, I don't feel bad 1 little bit. BUT like you said, if someone asks me to tone it down, I'll happily do it. It's not my goal to upset people so I'll respect their wishes if I can but at the same time I'm not ashamed one little bit of the actions and language I use. It's like smokers - I'd appreciate it if they didn't smoke around me (and I'll ask them not to) but if they don't want to do so they're under no law (yet) that requires them to do so, so I'll simple step away. No one said you weren't welcome, just that you have to accept it's primarily an adult environment. Think of it like taking your child to an R rated movie - you don't have to, but if you chose to then that's your problem - not the movies. A dz is in public, in public there is no law saying I can't run around dropping the F bomb whenever I or anyone else feels like it. It's also a pretty large place where you can simply move away from the offending conversation. Seriously don't expect people to bend around your whim or definition of what you do or don't think acceptable is. If the owner has issue with it, it's entirely within their right to address it. If they don't address it then they're ok with it so deal with it. If no laws are being broken the issue, is quite simply, yours and no one elses. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

CPC Southeast Region SCHEDULE (GA/TN/AL)
ianmdrennan replied to ianmdrennan's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I'd like to thank Dave for making such an effort to not have more than 1 event at a dropzone for this season. I for one, think it's a great idea (and in the spirit of the CPC) to include as many DZ's as possible. Bravo, Dave (Freeflypimp). I believe the Carolina region is doing the same thing (different DZ's) so kudo's to them as well! Performance Designs Factory Team -

I know you said you're ultra current, so I'l just ask that you go through the progression thoroughly and with coaching. It's not a race and treating it as such will only mean you'll need to go back and fix bad habits later (which is harder cause they're more ingrained). It feels slow at first to get all the things down, but once you do the rest of the progression will go much faster.

Yep, I'd say that factors into it. The Sabre2 also has a longer recovery arc than the Stiletto so that comes into play as well. Definately. Yanking down a toggle on a Sabre2 and a Stiletto will yield to very different results. The Stiletto will have you horizontal with your canopy in a heatbeat. It's just a lot more "twitchy". Well it's a catch 22. Because the Stiletto dives less you're turning it lower to the ground, but because it planes out faster you can stop turning lower than a Sabre2 and be just fine. The Sabre2, because it dives longer, gives the pilot more time to make corrections but also means the descent will take longer to stop. Each canopy will require a different technique so applying the wrong technique to ANY canopy can have unpleasant results. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

I wouldn't even put the Stiletto on your list then. If I were to recommend a progression (on PD's products as I am most familiar with them) I'd do (obviously this is over time): Sabre2 until you get to it loaded around 1.7-1.8 Katana SAME SIZE as the sabre2 you just stepped off of until you're loading it around 2.0 Velocity for loadings 2.1 or higher. In order to answer your question we need to know what your canopy goals are, and where you are currently in your canopy flight progression. Also we need to know what you're looking for in a canopy (what characteristics you want). Each canopy has different things they do well, it all depends how their traits fit into both your goals, flying style and what you want to get out of your canopy. I definately see your point. I do, however, accept that live TV is just that, and that anything may happen. Meh, in the end it's all spilt milk

You don't mention nudity. The "public exhibitionism" statement was what I was referring to. Honestly I don't care if she showed everything. Dealing with issues is part of a parents job, if they're unable to deal with the "mental anguish" of seeing a boob or their child is scarred for life then they had bigger issues to begin with. Honestly, I'd be happy if there was some sort of standard (even if I didn't like it) that things were held to. Unfortunately one only needs to watch prime time tv to see that double standards emerge everywhere. It's ok to say crap, but not gun (yes I've actually seen that edited out). It's ok to show dead bodies from war images, but not a boob. See where I'm going and what my issue with the whole debacle is? There are always going to be groups pissing and moaning about PC this, boob that. There are other more important issues to deal with IMO. Of course it's far easier to blame everything else for all a childs problems than actually parenting them. The world isn't a nice place, what allows kids to grow up "normal" or "good" is their ability to filter and process information, weeding out the good from the bad (they're always exposed to both). It's our job to provide the set of guidelines for them to apply to this information in their lifetime, from an early age. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

You have to be joking, I mean you do drive past some of these billboards right(hooters springs to mind)? I sometimes wonder how these people function without going into convulsions of biblical magnitude when they look in the mirror, pick up a magazine, drive down the road, go to the beach, etc, etc, etc Performance Designs Factory Team
