  1. Something to add: Up high practice your turn and then flaring as hard as you can (pretend the earth is going to smash your legs). It's good to know what the canopy will do and how much you can put in. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  2. I've been there after a serious accident (woman flew into a spinning prop - but lived). Hearing her teenage son screaming was the most heartwrenching thing I've ever seen in my life. Choose wisely. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  3. Correct. It's also important to know that PD took the canopy back and are rectifiying the issue. Just another reason I'm such a staunch PD supporter. Even if they get it wrong, they'll do whatever it takes to make it right. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  4. A-freaking-men. I'd be a lot more insulted knowing someone faked it (hell how could the person fix what they're doing wrong if they have no idea) than if they flatout told me I suck and "try this" - heheh. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  5. Not always fashion. Most containers reserve size restricted by the main size. I know of a few people who simply cannot fit a larger reserve in the container sized for their main. It's the reason PD's new reserve material is of such interest. In theory people could upsize (I know I will) their reserves and still have a container sized to their main. 7. Yes, but it's the worst here I've seen. Like suggested, just try to ignore it. Jump where you want, have fun where you jump and the rest will all sort itself out Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  8. There's only one DZ in GA that has those practices that I'm aware of. I know there is financial competativeness (sp?) between the respective DZ's but I think for the most part it isn't as bad as Thanatos is making it out to be. I know jumpers from Skydive Atlanta regularly support at least Monroe and The Farm and that generally goes both ways. We typically all support each others events. As mentioned each one in the area offers their own unique experience....it's up to what the jumper is looking for that generally dictates which DZ they choose (Freeflying, swooping, rw, etc). Anything specific that you're referring to Thanatos? Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  9. ???????????? Performance Designs Factory Team
  10. at LEAST once a month. This last weekend I did 2 from altitude and it's still cold. I do love it, but it tires the crap outta my arms after a day of jumping. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  11. I'd bet you were right. It's exactly what was going through my mind when I hit the pond last season. Granted depth perception is different, yadda yadda, but the concept of not seeing that you're too low "up high" is the same. Cold hard lesson that left me aching for some time. 12. or you can stick with some of the best service in the industry Performance Designs Factory Team
  13. Reduce yes, prevent no. I do support your proposal, but I don't believe for one second that it'll get rid of all canopy accidents. I realize you understand this - just thought I'd comment on the verbage. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  14. Wooohoo!! I'll be there. Lets hope the winds are good this year! Performance Designs Factory Team
  15. I agree 100%. I spent a day doing hop n pop's from 1800 feet (really low clouds) a year or so ago. It wasn't really a lot of fun especially jumping my canopy BUT I know have a really good idea of exactly how much altitude I need. Not to mention I'm really comfy with getting out quickly, stable and been ready to quickly deal with any emergency procedure. I'd rather have my first time getting out that low be in a controlled environment than an emergency. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  16. yummm swooping - hey Hans, what's the swoop comp format for Dublin BTW? Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  17. The thought of publically humiliating Mark like that is so appealing you have NO IDEA
  18. First of all it wouldn't even be a challenge to whip your ass in sitflying....I'm not suggesting you can't I'm telling you that you can't Second I'll be in Skydive Atlanta for safety day
  19. What you gonna do if the pilot tells you to get out at 1800 feet? Performance Designs Factory Team
  20. I've experienced significant delays on hop and pops with my container (not a wings) when the bridal has been too short and the pilot chute too small (24"). What size is your PC? Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  21. Practice more then Come on down to the NTAC coaching weekends, we'll hook you up
  22. So why don't you teach them to sitfly Coach Performance Designs Factory Team
  23. Ditto. Pretty much what Ari said. Performance Designs Factory Team
  24. HA yeah I had to do COBOL in college too!! Unfortunately I've had to become familiar with Powerbuilder for my new job in supporting this legacy application but my heart still lies with C# (I LOVE that language and the .NET framework). As for JAVA yep we use that a lot here too so I wouldn't count that out and there a million or more VB apps still out there (but thank god I haven't had to write one for over 2 years!!) Look forward to meeting you in Dublin! Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  25. I think it's slated for May 3rd release. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
