No no that's the BMW oil. Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay. The only thing that falls from the sky is birdshit and fools!

It's a start!

I do not know what viscosity the Boxster should use, but my 911 uses 0W-50 and I pay at least double the price you are quoting for synthetic 0W-50. Same with the VW. Well I'll go look but odds are I'm not going to buy unless they offer me a very amazing price....more so than what I was quoted over the phone. they also indicated they had a 328 Xi Coup in silverand a 128i convertable It's funny they are charging a solid $2k more for the 1 than the 3. I'm sorry you want me to pay more for a smaller car? WTF! Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay. HU? What did I do now? Hum would I get married again? I mean I am a young guy....though now I have some very serious trust issues......I don't see why not. Sure! Maybe one day. I'm sure I'll meet a nice girl and things will go where they go. I figure from your posts you are training to be an old single dude God / Skygod willing...no I hope not. There is a reason why my 1.8T does not use any oil nor has any oil leaks

Why I asked here. I can get the cost of things online...which turned out to be not too bad when compared to my Jetta with respect to parts. For example, 4 all season french tires on a set of 17in rims...$900 4 set of all season tires for the Boxter s about $1200 Only difference is that the VW gets about 45k miles while the Boxter may get 30k miles or so. As for is it big enough for me? I don't know. It's just me. I don't have any kids, I don't mountain bike but I do ski. I also don't golf..... As I said I've driven this car before in the summer but wasn't sure how she is in colder weather with respect to keeping ones head warm. With respect to the why? Well as stated the VW is showing her age and i'm looking at about $3k worth of work over the next year and well it was a car I had bought for my x wife and well....maybe it will help me in clearing my head since it's getting a bit too cold to jump here in NJ Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay. ha ha One of the girls at my MBA program got engaged. She was VERY athletic and VERY attractive. But as soon as that ring went on her finger.....well...aaahh...she "expanded her assprint". To quote my Indian friend "Oh look she's happy now! And her husband will not be happy at all." So I for one as a dirty dog love this idea! That's an extra two years of keeping the "happy" weight off. After listening to one of the ladies in my EMBA class describer her day to day solitary existence and how in a sad way she knew her mail man and fedex dude and ups man and more or less ordered stuff so they would show up such that she could in a way have some sort of human contact....it really scared the shit out of me. I'm there now, working in a small office and living in a community where there aren't many if any people my age around and being single at an age where all of my friends are either married or married with kids....it scared me. I understand why some would enjoy it. Free of the political and social issues associated with office life and the freedom to work in your undies and not worrying about waking up and driving in but I also see the downside of this as well. The slow disassembling of one's social acumen. And as I see it with the death of the local café and the local book store and the move to ever increasing online procurement of products and services....I can't help but wonder how maladjusted as a society we may become? It's kind of scary if you ask me. Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay. They are only $50 a shot for that car. And the car does run rather hot with the turbo and all. And heat cycling is a leading killer of ignition coils. And I should have replaced them when I had the timing belt replaced along with the pulgs. I didn't and one of them died on me. But also remember when I was at 50k miles it was at 5 years. So they did las a good long while. Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay. You know people say VWs are horrible when it comes to maintenance costs and what not. Ive had my 1.8T since 02 and thus far no more than breaks and wheels and one flex pipe. The worst thing that happened was that my ignition coils went at 50k miles. But well....hate to say it but those things should be replaced when you change your plugs and I didn't so it was my fault really. But other than that no problems. All you have to do is change the oil every 5k miles / 5 months ($140) and yeah she runs on premium but I get 30mph at 80mph! But the most important thing if you ask me is the 2 minutes I give her to warm up every morning. And the 2 minutes I give her to warm up before I go home. Most modern cars are designed to be good. We just abuse them if you ask me. Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay. One of the women in my class stated that she knew her mail man, fedEX dude and UPS guy by name and well....when they showed up it was the highlight of her day.....aaahhh...yeah thanks but no thanks! I don't want to live that kind of life at my age yet. Maybe when I'm 90 and dead! Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay. Everyone thank you for the advice, I think I will just show up ask a few questions and take it for a spin. But odds are....99-1 I'm not going to buy it even though they are trying to off load her well below KBB. As for why it's not moving? Well we have had a hell of a rainy summer here in NJ and it's October. The car showed up on the lot in late August. Right smack dab in the middle of our hurricane earth quake season. And though the earth has stopped shaking the sky's have yet to stop leaking this rain thing. Adding problems is that she is a 6 speed and as I stated most people in NJ don't know how to pump their own gas let alone drive a stick. I guess I could always buy her and keep her in the garage for the winter...but then she will be no better than my bike and right now I don't need another bike. I want a car to help clear my head of some old sentimental attachments that a voodoo priest nor a few dead chickens can fix. I'll just keep my eyes open for that low milage 6 speed inline 6 from BMW that comes with that nice Certified Pre Owned program. Again thank you guys! I greatly appreciate it. Yeah she's pretty and she would be a hell of a ride but she would probably just suck my blood dry. wolfriverjoe Thank you. I appreciate the info. May be a hell of a nice car for a hell of a nice car but if it's no more or less than another bike than no thank you. Shame she is rather attractive. That is the catch yes, there is no warranty on the Boxter. I would be buying it from a BMW dealer as well. Thus I will have to by an warranty from another dealer, if it were possible. Any turbo VW with anything in it new is the mid $20k's But if i had my choice at the moment I would rather go for a certified pre owend 3 series BMW in stick....but they just don't exist here in NJ! http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/dvd/sony/Zohan/Zohan_4lg.jpg Kevin McDonough: Where are you from anyway? Zohan: Haustralia. Kevin McDonough: Really, because you sound middle eastern. Zohan: No no no, similar accent. Hangaroo.

Remster, They are liquid cooled now. Though those old oil cooled 911's are gorgeous! And the sound they make! It's basically a Subaru engine, non turbo. Flat 6. It just so happens to be in the middle of the car. Thus the two trunks. Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay. What is your major malfunction? If you have nothing to say you still feel as if you should say something? Don't you have anything better to do in life than to be an overall annoyance? Saved for amusement. From ME i know it's odd. But at least I add to the conversation where he.....well I'm not going to go into it. They really want to get this car off their lot, hell I think all dealers want cars off their lots due to the underperforming economy. But being a two door convertible stick shift...in NJ...I think this is a non mover. Not many people here know how to pump gas let alone drive stick. The price quoted was rather nice. As I said at or about a well appointed new Jetta. Yet this car will have no warrantee. However it is very low miles and was per the carfax a single owner car. Yet is it viable? I've had sports car in the past but all were hatch backs. This on the other hand...being what it is, may be no more useful than a motorcycle? I don't know, one I've never owned a convertible and second I've never owned a luxury car. Thus why I'm asking? Maybe someone has an older model or knows of someone who has one as a daily driver? Just looking for a bit of feedback. Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay. Changed the number of dependents. As such reduced the amount I would get back at the end of the year to be distributed to what I get back per paycheck. Thus now I get nothing back at the end of the year, where before I got back money. Or as the business people put it "you were lending money to the government at no interest boy! Not smart." Funny thing, since the condo came in at being under water, I may be able to reduce my property taxes as well. So there may be more cost savings. And the interest rate for the car would be around 3%. So it is financially viable. The question is can it be physically viable? I may have to hold on to my older 4 door car? I'm not sure? Thus why I asked for the viability of such a car? Can you carry groceries in it? Can you rely on it to get you from point A-B Yes it's a sports car but is it an annoying sports car (loud/rough) when driven over long distances? How are convertibles in the winter? We don’t get much snow here and the car will be garaged but are there any leaking issues or how cold is it when you are driving on the highway? So on and so forth? Oh and maintenance costs? At the moment an oil change for the VW is about $140 and timing belt/major tune up is a solid $1,500 I'm sure they are more for a luxury vehicle but how much? Are we talking $800 oil changes? Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay. Yes on the culture, but that's not always bad. Hum, but if you are not a part of the culture, and things hit the fan....you could be a faceless person cut from the workforce? Right? Beleive it or not the insurance would not be much higher. We are talking about an extra $25 or so per month. I've never had an accident and I live very close to work thus insurance is low for me. I was short, then I spoke with my accountant, I lost a solid $300 per pay check when I switched from married to single but various adjustements were made and I was able to get most of that money back. The condo is under well over $60k, at this piont...throwing money into it really doesnt' change things. And I have given up on looking for a new job / career change. In this economy it's best to just sit and enjoy what you can get with what you got. As for the fuel, believe it or not that little two door gets about 30mph according to a friend! Not bad! And yeah I'm serious about it. I need to change my life. I can't get out of the condo which is full of memories, the job well 10% unemployment so why not a new car for new memories? Oh and the cars BB is about $34k and they are willing to give it to me for the price of a well appointed Jetta.
