  3. VERY NICE! Well done Zun et al. Is this aimed as a ProFLY replacement? Gecko Off Topic Herwig - How do you use your arms/hands in the Verso to tension the suit etc.? Thanks, Ross www.gathhelmets.co.uk www.flyyourbody.com
  4. A bit of feedback, in no particular order (after 7 solos): 1/ The suit is physically heavier and better made than my 2009 Expert, in my opinion. It has rear vents (arms, leg wing AND hips), over-the-shoulder rigging zips and reverse/quick-release arm zips for the cutaway. I think all these go to making it look and feel quick and powerful. 2/ Hip vents, which are quite a unique feature from my experience, seem to help pressurise the outside of the legs and bottom of the arm wings. 3/ The design around the cut-a-way pads and laterals is much more secure and rugged; holding the pads out all the time and more space for lateral movement. Rigging zip starts 3-4" below the pads and runs up underneath the should straps of the rig, over the shoulder and down the back with the other end of the zip below the laterals. The 2 zippers are then linked together to great moveable hole. 4/ The single diagonal neck-to-toe zip and single hip-to-other-toe zip make it fractionally more difficult to put on. However, I think that is something I will get used to after another weekend of jumping. 5/ The suit material is like a plastic tarpauling these days instead of anything else (I've seen) within the skydiving world. Repeated folding (use) of the suit produces a marble effect in the material, which looks quite cool. 6/ It actually has a fully enclosed cell within the leg wing giving it more of a conventional collapsing feel; 3 small cups on the front and back. 7/ There's 2 iphone sized pockets on the outside of cell, inside the suit, plus 1 behind the chest zip. 8/ Leg wing feels easier to tension and is a bit longer that the Expert. The leg zips, which are big and chunky, go all the way down to the soles of your shoes with neoprene around the back of your calves. It definately feels quicker forward than the Expert and after 7 jumps harder to slow down vertically....lol. 9/ The sleeves extend down over the hands a little bit more and the top is thickened/padded to give a more rounded leading edge, It is not contoured to the arm like the Expert - Think Birdman Blade but less obvious. Possibly easier and more stable to fly banked at an angle than the Expert so cloud surfing is going to be fun. 10/ It is more tiring on the lower arms/shoulders to fly than the Expert but expect to get used to this quite quickly once I've mastered the position. 11/ More stable on its back than the Expert (when I fell out of the plane on the first jump) though need to master extra surface area but am still learning to back fly anyway. Any advice or Exprience on "Verso Hand/Arm Positions" welcome?? Fingers crossed I get to fly it with some folks this weeked!! Gecko www.gathhelmets.co.uk www.flyyourbody.com

  11. Mike, Thanks for that! I'm going to do a bit more reserach on a friendmade or homemade solution and then decide. All, I'll post photes and/or updates in due course. Cheers, Ross www.gathhelmets.co.uk www.flyyourbody.com
  12. Hi Guys, Thanks for all the different ideas. Nice job, Ronaldo! I work away from home all the time so don't have access to many tools or work spaces so trying to find an off-the-shelf idea. Playing with cardboard to create an equivalent bonehead plate might be an idea, for someone else to make..lol. Mike, I hadn't realised cookie did a range of adaptors for the flatlock so thanks for that. Any suggestion on which might fit would be a huge help, if you get a chance. Cheers, Ross www.gathhelmets.co.uk www.flyyourbody.com
  13. Flat turns by dipping a shoulder and not moving arms or legs. Have fun experimenting. Mud-flap Mount http://www.dzsports.co.uk/bonehead-mud-flap-alti-mount-360-p.asp Easy to read in flight and don't have to change/move your arm wings. Bracket can be used to mount any atlimeter. Most of the time now I use a VisoII in a glove http://www.l-and-b.dk/viso2.html as a very slick solution, which I can read in flight. I switch to the mud-flat mount when I wear a gopro on the back of my left hand. Ross www.gathhelmets.co.uk www.flyyourbody.com
  14. Hi Guys, For various reasons, I'm looking to turn my large, orignal, Gath helmet into a top mount for a Sony CX105/CX110. Has anyone done this, does anyone know if there is an off-the-shelf adaptor that will fit the curve of a Gath? Many thanks, Ross www.gathhelmets.co.uk www.flyyourbody.com
  15. Saxboy, Welcome to the flock! Good choice on suit! Relax, have fun and try to fly with as many other people as possible. Tensioning the suit with the shoulders and having your chest out are important as well as turning your fingers to point towards your feet instead of out sideways (with your palms down). This has the benifit of pushing your upper arm up into the suit and locking your elbow spreading the tension across the arm wings. You can push against your hand loops to put further tension on the wings but have found that having your hands relaxed is better. Check out some of the videos and advice on www.FlyLikeBrick.com, which are transferable to all designs of suits! To quote/copy Zun: Stand about a foot back from a door frame with your arms and legs apart as if in your suit. Lean forwards so that your upper arms are resting on the sides of the frame, push your chest out and hold your head up and push up on your toes. This gives you a slightly head low position, all wings out and should be quite fast. Whilst leaning on the door frame, push a shoulder in without moving anything practicing a flat turn. 17. Hi Folks, Does anyone have experience going from a "Palms Down with No Grippers Suit" to a "Palms Up with Grippers & Shoulders Rolled Suit"? Having recently demo'd a couple of larger suits, for fun, my shoulder/upper arm muscles were completely fatigue before the end of 1 jump. It was painful to try and keep my shoulders and upper arms forward and not swept back by pull time. I've never experienced anything like this in my current (palm down) suit no matter how many jumps I do in a day. Questions: 1) Is this just a case of muscle memory and I need to man-up? If so, can anyone recommend some on-the-ground exercises to speed up and help the process? 2) Do newbies on much bigger suits have a tendancy to overgrip and have too much tension in their arms? 3) Can you or should you learn to fly a much bigger suit with less leg wing, so less forward speed, to reduce the force on the arms until they are stronger? Cheers, Ross www.gathhelmets.co.uk www.flyyourbody.com

  22. Good thought provoking topic, Jarno! I have only ever jumped with an ADD and bought a secondhand unit this month to keep jumping as my current one life expired. For me, it's a personal choice, an ADD is mitigation only with training, experience and equipment inspection/maintenance providing the prevention and protection. I also have to have an ADD to jump in funny places. It's not something I hear discussed often unless people are suddenly required to have one for a demo jump or similar etc. Have I ever felt an emotional burden or been in a situation deciding to help others? No How would I react if I ever was in that situation? I don't know Have I ever been helpless watching an event unfold (from the ground)? Yes and an ADD provided the save. Have I been on the recieving end of help? Yes, on my 23rd jump when a instructor had to help my main deploy, whilst 2k about ADD height. Ross www.gathhelmets.co.uk www.flyyourbody.com
