I can only hope that when people write negative comments about DZ's or gear or whatever, they try and get all the information before they go off half cocked and only make matters worse. I only bring this up because it is very personal to me, but I was extremely upset about some who formed an opinion about my DZ , and a very close friend of mine based on a post from someone who did not know the whole story. It was a good learning experience for me not only because of the issues that were discussed (pro's AND cons) but also because it proved to me that even the most experienced people here post rash opinions based on little to no credible information at times. Heck, even I am just as guilty for throwing my .02 in where it shouldn't have been. But that is the whole point, they are nothing more than opinions. These events helped reinforce my resolve to take all the information in first, sit back, mull it over and ONLY then form my own opinion. I still value these people's opinions, but I will not take them as gospel either C'est la vie Still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest....

Viking AND Ishaan, Don't stress on how long it takes. I completed AFF over a year ago (Nov 00) but didn't get my A until Jul 01. I did have more than the min # jumps tho... Keeping current so you don't start forgetting everything you've learned was always more important to me than the actual license. Still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest....

I had the good fortune of being able to drive to SLC to see the Olympics last week (which is another story)with Littljumper. The trip is about 750 miles and about a 10 hour drive with most of the drive thru the Nevada High Desert. For anyone who has not been there, While the high desert mountains are very picturesque, they are in the distance. There are long stretches where there is little else of note except for the occasional sage brush that scoots across the highway. On the return trip, I was about 6 hours into the drive, about an hour away from the nearest signs of civilization in either direction and bored to tears. Hoping for anything to break the monotony, I turned on the car radio hoping for something, anything. I hit the scan button to find an available station and watched the numbers go spinning all the way up to 107.7 and starting again at the beginning. I was starting to get a little worried that even the radio was a lost cause when it suddenly stopped. A song started playing and from the way the guitar sounded, I knew it would be country music, which at that point anything would be a welcome sound.The singing started and predictably, a slow southern drawl was telling me that it was okay to chew tobacco and to have a girlfriend named Mary Jo Bob.It all became clear to me as he sang the chorus "IT'S OKAY TO BE A REDNECK" All I could do was laugh....
