I'll second Indyz suggestion... It's easy, plug it in at the head, telnet or browse to it and configure as a gateway and a DHCP server. Most come with built in firewalling now. There's also a wireless/ wired gateway if you want to go 802.11b sometime Yeah, win2k can do NAT (internet sharing) but the biggest draw back is that the computer always has to be on. Other issues is that all traffic funnels thro the one computer, if it's an older computer, it can slow things down on the whole network. Lastly, you really want some kind of firewall. Keeping up with MS security fixes and making sure all ports are closed is a full time job. Win2k has a big bullseye on it. Every script kiddie and their hacker mom are lookin for MS OS'es. If you really want a dedicated box acting as a dedicated gateway, look into the Nix'es... I can point you to some good places to look I promise not to TP Davis under canopy..
