  1. thanks for the advice! i have a couple of tattoos already. I like yours, by the way. I just watched a show where they built that parachute and this guy flew it. it worked. and the quote is so true... Leonardo was a genuis!
  2. So i have been wanting to get a new tattoo, and i figure, what better to get than something to do with my new favorite hobby? Ive done a few google searches but havent really seen anything that grabs me. Anybody got any ideas?
  3. I have 18 jumps, and im dying to freefly! You are an inspiration!
  4. I'm still pretty new at this, with just 18 jumps under my belt (two of which i did yesterday) and I'd say do as many as you can! Through AFF I usually did one jump a day, except for levels 5 & 6, and then 7 & 8. That was only because I couldnt afford to do more. Since then, I have done 3 jumps in one day and ever since, i've been a lot more comfortable in freefall. I think that when you jump like that, you learn and retain a lot more. Then again, sometimes I do one jump and I just feel like thats all i should do for the day. (not usually though, lol)
  5. So what are the best goggles for contacts? Sorz?
  6. I dont think my boyfriend would like that. :-) We live a little over an hour away.
  7. that had already crossed my mind, but I need them all to jump! any other ideas?!
  8. My advice is as soon as you have a good canopy above you that you can fly.. FIND THE DZ and GO FOR IT! My first AFF level, I ended up almost over the ocean, miles away from the drop zone and my radio didnt work. Everybody thought that I wasnt going to make it back. Secondly... dont look at the ground while your landing. You will surely hit it pretty hard! Look ahead so u can get a feel for when you need to flare when you dont have radio assistance.
  9. So I rushed right through AFF and now im broke! I'm definately not going to be able to jump for atleast another two weeks! I'm dying to go and I can't! So I just thought that I would vent to people who actually care, lol. Anybody feel my pain? I need a sponsor. :-P
  10. I had the same problem on my first tandem! I wasnt looking down because I was staring at the camera man but I remember feeling like there was so much air flying up my nose that I couldnt breath as well as I wouldve liked to. I did a second tandem that day and since then, I have graduated AFF and done a solo and I haven't had a problem with breathing since. I think, for me, it was just the craziness of my first skydive. It was pretty overwhelming.
  11. Congrats on your first HD dock! That looks like such a f*%^ing blast! I just graduated AFF and I aspire to be a freeflyer!
  12. yeah... i've never heard of it either! But I like to watch skydiving when I'm not doing it! :-P
  13. I'd like to suggest a thread where people can post when skydiving is going to be covered on tv. If it already exists I have overlooked it. There just isn't enough skydiving on tv!
  14. I just graduated AFF too. During my first few jumps I'd look at the ground and hit it hard every time! Since i've started looking ahead at the horizon, i have had consistent (not perfect) stand up landings! You've gotta just feel it! Dont look at the ground!
  15. There's going to be skydiving on television Wednesday May 20th. Time Warp at 8:00pm eastern standard time & Mythbusters at 9. In case you wanted to set your DVR. :-P
  16. I started my AFF in Sebastian and I wanted to try a new DZ so I did level 3 in Clewiston. (both DZ's in Florida) Sebastian uses an otter and when I went to Clewiston they put me up in a cessna. I think that small cessna had a lot to do with it but I was terrified in Clewiston. Everyone was really nice and they were very thorough but I was terrified! I think it was a combination of the tiny plane, the new people and a new landing area that I wasn't comfortable with. For that reason alone I would say stick to one DZ. Another thing that I like about the otter is, as someone said previously, you get a lot more altitude. = more time to finishyour dive flow. During level 3 I spent so much time worrying about the landing area in the plane that I almost landed it. I psyched myself out.

  18. Alright... I'm going to try it again. Tomorrow morning AFF level 2! Winds are supposed to be around 14mph. Wish me luck!
  19. I didn't get to jump! First it was too windy. Then they were going to let me jump but they delayed the plane so that my friends could get their rigs repacked. By the time they were packed huge storm clouds rolled in! Pray for good weather on tuesday!
  20. LoL I'm not sure they would be too happy about that.
