I few years ago I started a new job with a fairly large corporation. On day one they had me fill out a series of survey questions. One of the questions was "Are you a member of a visible minority (this would include African American, Native Indian, East Indian, Oriental, etc, etc)." I could not believe it. But being new to the company I did not want to rock the boat, so I answered what they wanted me to say which was "No". Now I bring this up because in my local area of the city I live in, I am NOT part of the dominate race. Walk around my local grocery store and 10 out of 20 people are Chinese, 6-7 out of 20 are caucasian and the remaining 3-4 out of 20 are some other race. Now don't get me wrong I am NOT oppressed by the Chinese nor do I feel that I am disadvantaged. But the world is changing. People from all over the world are emigrating/immigrating to various western countries. The stereotypes of yesterday do not fit the reality of today or tomorrow.
