  1. ...I'm sorry but it's startin' to sound like your travel plans are a bit at the mercy of the military and we , as skydivers, will have none of that!
  2. And the winner of THE GREATEST understatement posted to this forum in the last 6 months is..... Rhino!!!!! I feel your pain brother. I started jumping and continued jumping for the next 9 years or so in Michigan. Yep!...I thought so ...my first 500 some jumps were mostly hop-n-pops from 3500' or more or less due to cloud low ceilings in MI!! Damn that Lake Michigan!!! 3. Currently ongoing Rhino!! Ever since 9/11 (hopefully without personal prejiduce most of us have been looking over our shoulder and being more aware of everyone and everything happening around us!) IMHO... I just want to always keep an eye on them (the good elected officials) with the same watchful eye as in my "neighborhood watch" comment above to be certain that the "good people we elected" are not at the same time violating our civil liberties in the name of our protection. Just 'cause we chose (read: elected) them doesn't give them the right to start stepping some personal rights that were granted by the authors of our Constitution! Sorry to rant as I know this has been been discussed before in this forum.. "This is the 4th time I've been late for work this week!!...and it's only Tuesday!" ...Cheech and Chong
  4. I've just gone from NEWBIE status to ENTHUSIAST status
  5. Ain't that the truth Quade! Things are disintegrating all around us and we (especially the U.S which I love) seem to be more concerned with the WWF or the latest "The Osbournes" episode. I pray and hope for peace daily (some days it feels more futile than other days). PLEASE open you eyes everyone!!! 6. jtval.... wait a minute...if my memory serves (correctly) aren't you going to be sharing the same geography with us at some point in the not too distant future?
  7. AMEN jtval!!!! [IMHO] We ALL need to adopt a couple of golden rules to always keep in mind while participating in this sport we so love: 1. We ARE our brother and sister keepers. 2. If you see something on the way to the plane, on the ride to altitude, even one's attitude on the ground, and it just doesn't seem right or safe to you, or gives you any bit of doubt, say something!!!!! Re: #2 What's the worst thing that could happen? You could be wrong? No....the worst thing is that we could possibly lose another brother or sister because none of us wanted to say anything to them. PLEASE don't worry that you might offend someone (they shouldn't be offended by it but instead be appreciative that you've said it out of concern for them) or if you're the one that is being questioned don't be offended, instead take a second look and thank them. When said respectfully your comment about something that didn't look quite right, at the very least will make hopefully make that person stop , look again, and think twice about a particular aspect of their gear, their ability, or even their skydiving awareness that they might have mistakenly overlooked before heading running out to the plane. When we are consistanly throwing our bodies at the earth from 2 miles above. This practice is not really a bad thing! [/IMHO] Regardless of what number of jumps I might have at any given time I personally will never get pissed off or offended when a fellow jumper with 100 jumps or less asks if they can give me a 'pin check'. Instead I will ask them what they saw and thank them with a smile and handshake. The life they save could my own. My thoughts, prayers, and condolences go out to all of our brothers and sisters and their loved ones that we've lost in the last few weeks. Blue Skies Forever.... 9. ROTFLAO!! ...or maybe a "PANIC BUTTON" to click when the boss walks by? "This is the 4th time I've been late for work this week!!...and it's only Tuesday!" ...Cheech and Chong
  10. We (wife and I) made the same assumtion and couldn't agree more Sangiro. It's a very appropriate color considering all of the losses within our family recently. The site is much faster now (personally using cable modem). Disregarding the speed, or lack thereof, MUCH THANKS again for providing all of us this cyber DZ.
  11. Wow........(wiping away tears). Thank you for sharing your beatiful story. It's truly a solid affirmation of why all of us cherish and celebrate those famous 3 words..... ...Ready , Set, GO !!!!! Welcome home. 12. You might check with Greg http://www.skydivingstunts.com He's a software engineer in the Tucson area and a pretty nice guy too. Good luck in your search and possible move!! "This is the 4th time I've been late for work this week!!...and it's only Tuesday!" ...Cheech and Chong
  13. Oh well...our offer and aloha will always stand for you my brother... D License to jump?? No, but the landings can get a bit precarious with the trade winds out here. The view while in freefall, however, certainly outwieghs the sketchy landing conditions
  14. Then you'll luuuuuv v v tracking dives!!!!!! "This is the 4th time I've been late for work this week!!...and it's only Tuesday!" ...Cheech and Chong
  15. Is Hawai'i an option for you Skymedic? MUST warn you though; our humble home is soooo freakin small that we, (my wife and I), can be sitting on the throne in our bathroom and still be able to reach, and rotate, the dinner plate inside our microwave oven at the same time. The scenery around here is great however.....
  16. Damn PLF... do we all have to wait 5 whole games before breaking out the Dom??? (looking back over shoulder at Carolina). You're right though, it would only be proper for the Wings to skate around carrying Stanley in "The Joe"and not in Carolina. Amazing that just a few days ago Detroit had something like 42 SOG and came up with only 1 point yet this last Saturday they put up 7 points out of only 23 SOG. Can we get a collective...."The WINGS WERE ON!!!"......thank you and amen!!!!![gravitysurf and wife doing the "happy dance"]
  17. My wife and I just watched, (again..?...), the latest Sheryl Crow video (Soak up the Sun) on VH1. I'm not the biggest Sheryl Crow fan but it was shot on the North Shore of Oahu (Yeeeaaah!) and it's kind of a cool song too. While watching we kept looking over her left shoulder (the campfire/sunset on the beach scenes in particular) for a or any canopies in the sky as our local DZ is about 2-3 miles directly behind where she's sitting while playing her guitar in this video. We've seen a few music vids w/skydiving in them in the past. Though there's no skydiving in this particular one it's still like watching home video with all the scenery going on in the background. Does anyone else out there have any experiences with music vids being filmed at or near your local DZ or (even better) using skydiving as a visual in the vid itself? If I recall wasn't there a country music vid from awhile back that was filmed entirely at Skydive AZ in Eloy? The musician was Jo Dee something or other...?!? (sorry for not knowing the details) That just Rocks anytime "our sport" is shown in such a positive manner!!!!
  18. OK... so it took us a little more than 6 games PLF , but what a way to wrap up the series in 7!!! ...like ummm 7 v.s. 0
