    dallas and ft worth sucks. too much traffic, too many crapy people, high crime rates, high cost of living and too many stupid good looking blondes! though the skydiving is good in north texas, those 2 cities are armpits. they are the only 2 places worse than houston. why not arizona, utah, cali, colorado or navada?     if you do a tandem, you are going to take a huge hit on opening! i was about 255 when i did my first tandem and i saw stars after opening. hooknswoop was my first tandem instructor and i do not remember a damn thing he said the first minute or so under canopy, other than, "these line twist really suck!" as for equipment, i talked to a guy named dave star at square1 and because of my weight, he wanted to sell me a modified military vector rig..........it was ugly as hell but he said it was the strongest(i did not buy it). i am no expert, i am just telling you about my experience researching big-boy skydiving equipment.

    yea, i have that damn french piece of shit transmission in my 87 wrangler......but when i put a new engine in it last summer i installed the factory fuel injection kit which brings it up to a 95 under the hood........................so i only have one more upgrade to it! how all this goes with skydiving you may ask? well, it is even more fun to go to the DZ when you drive a jeep! gear in the back, top down and fine skydiving chick in the right seat with you! does not get any better than that!

    yep, a brand new T-5 from 4 wheel drive catalog is about 2K, the adaptor plate is about 2 hundred and the stick shift about 100......you need the adaptor plate because the ford tansmission will not directly fit to your 258. i would call around some of the shops and see if they have any rebuilt and waiting on a buyer, T-5's are really popular. while you are at it, get the fly wheel turned and replace the clutch and maybe the slave. this is a really easy job and it is not much different than repairing a go-cart! i have dropped the entire drive train from my 87 wrangler and put it back together in 1 day by myself. by the way, how much fluid did the mechanic say was in it? no ever checks or changes standard trans fluid! if we lived closer, i would help you out and help you fix it. the only thang more fun than working on your jeep is driving it!     i met tommy lee and the rest of the crew in galveston one night after they finished shooting a video.......i don't remember which song it was, i think it was a slow song and it had vince neil with a tiger(it was 10 years ago). we took a picture with him and he has not changed at all!

    i am no expert, but maybe a 50 year old WWII bomber cannot take the stress associated with dive bombing a forrest fire. it seems the heat alone would put much stress on the frame. something must be happening here, 2 planes from the same company losing its wings in flight.
