I think you should probably dry any canopy in the SHADE. I could be wrong. I'm not the man they think I am at home, no; I'm a rocket man. Sky World

Dude, you'll be fine. Skydivers just want to jump and have fun. Most of the "loudmouthed" people (a subjective term, but it's pretty obvious sometimes) on the forums are a minority here, and most of them would obviously rather be typing than jumping. Don't worry at all. A DZ is a much nicer place! I'm not the man they think I am at home, no; I'm a rocket man. Sky World

Actually Robin is bound by the oath of the Pygmy (righteous is it Robin?) not to disclose the internal proceedings of a Mau Mau. But if you ask around at the DZ, I'm sure someone can set one up for you!! I'm not the man they think I am at home, no; I'm a rocket man. Sky World

Definitely get some assisstance from a good instructor before changing canopies. Have fun!! I'm not the man they think I am at home, no; I'm a rocket man. Sky World

And on the first few jumps, while solo, I think it would be advisable to use common sense. If you are really spinning violently, or completely out of control and the new stable position isn't helping, since you'll be solo anyway at this level, GO TO YOUR BELLY and save your life. If you are anywhere near breakoff (I'd say anywhere near 6 Grand) and are really losing control, again while solo, cork out and prepare for pull time. But definitely TRY your best to learn this "sit stable" position as soon as possible, as you should not freefly with anyone else before you master stability in a fast body position. I have no experience with throw outs with this setup, but the first time I heard of this it made me wonder. When packing my main, I generally like the loop tight enough that it is pretty difficult to get the pin through the loop. I might be over cautious, but I have noticed that when packing AFF ripcord rigs that I need the loop a little looser to get the ripcord through. Would this be at all dangerous with a throw out with a "ripcord pin" setup, or would the added length make up for the looser fit? I'm not the man they think I am at home, no; I'm a rocket man. Sushi (tuna, salmon, various rolls) and most anything Cajun, the spicier the better! And a Warsteiner or an Asahi. I'm not the man they think I am at home, no; I'm a rocket man. Sky World

That is a very interesting dialogue. Thanks for posting it! I'm also a fat guy with a relatively litle main and was wanting to upsize my reserve. I am now reconsidering. I'm not the man they think I am at home, no; I'm a rocket man. Sky World

Man, that sucks! I got to jump that thing while it was being ferried out there. We were rolling about the colors, but fell in love before it left the next day. I'm not the man they think I am at home, no; I'm a rocket man. Sky World

Also, you need to have clear space to land i any given direction you might be facing during and after your final turn, if you make one, in case you turn too low and have to dich early. For instance, if you approach south to north, and plan a 180 left turn to set up a swoop, you want to have enough room to land to the NE, E, SE, and South at the very least in case you need to flare out of the corner early. For example, yesterday, I pulled a hellacious downwinder right next to the taxiway (and hangars) and felt pretty dumb afterwards because if my turn had been mistimed my out probably would have been right into a hangar, and that ain't pretty. You got a problem with minorities? But seriously, chill out. If you don't like the guy, fine. But be careful about being a religion-NAZI. You sure come across as being narrow minded that way. I'm not the man they think I am at home, no; I'm a rocket man. Sky World

You oughtta be able to get one for free if you can collect enough of those $100 coupons from people who won't buy their products. The Tiki Freak Sky World

Mine flies a whole lot like a stiletto, only a little faster (maybe). The turns are slightly less "twitchy", but you do have to be sure and be symmetrical when you dump, and then fly the opening to keep the thing from turning. I have never had it spin up, usually a nice, diving right turn if I'm not watching it. I don't mind this much, I'm not taking it off of a cliff or anything. Overall I really like it, but the airlocks are really good for making the damn thing hard to collect in a stiff breeze (20-35 in Oklahoma a lot of times.) The freak formerly known as Mike Farmer. Otay, I'm a little slow. Toggle placement. Generally you want a couple of inches of slack so you can perform front riser maneuvers without disforming the tail or releasing a toggle, right? The freak formerly known as Mike Farmer. Sky World

Monkey, I gotta check on this. What does any canopy's brake setting have to do with the way it flies AFTER the brakes are released (hopefully long before landing)? The freak formerly known as Mike Farmer. Sky World

I have been skydiving less and less lately. Partly because I got married and bought a house, but more because I have begun trying to resume some of my "outdoorsy" nature outside of skydiving, which is why I started in the first place. I will never stop skydiving, but I don't think I'll ever be at the DZ every weekend again, either. I have noticed that when this happens, you can feel the difference in the way people treat you at the DZ, more like a blast from the past than anything, but that's okay. I plan to get into BASE, and on days too windy to jump, I'm gonna try this "kitesurfing" crap I've seen. Looks pretty cool, and there are parachute type thingys involved. All in all, I will keep skydiving, but I want to expand into more things that offer the same type of Freedom that skydiving does. Also want to get my private. And hang gliding, and the Harley, ...... Anyway I still jump quite a bit, and will always be a skydiver, I think I have just hit a plateau, and don't want to be tied to anything EVERY weekend. Anyway , I feel better, how much for the session? The freak formerly known as Mike Farmer. Sky World
