  1. Been self employed since the mid 1980's. Some years are better than others. It definitely takes more discipline than the average job, and that was easier when I was younger, and we were hungrier. For a few years at the beginning, I had to remind family members that I was WORKING at home. I had sisters and friends who thought since I was at home, they could drop by for coffee or drop off sick kids who weren't in school, or ask me to run to pick up sick kids. It was hard to say no, but after I did it for a while, they started to respect my space. skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com
  2. Actually, I think it is going to be a month of epic proportions! People will need to start at the St. Pats boogie and then head South for the others. skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com
  3. I have some serious inner ear issues that jump up and bite me in the A$$ every 3 or 4 years. As a little kid, I swam in lakes alot, and had a lot of inner ear infections. That created eustation tube problems. Then I had 2 concussions, both on the left side of my head. Add to that a little (very little) allergy to corn smut, and I go WAY over the top on vertigo. Sometimes I have to lay on the floor with both eyes closed and just hang on til the spinning stops. Through trial and error, I have found that decongestants and antibiotics are the only thing that get me up and going again. When the spinning starts, I have very little hearing in my left ear. It sounds like I am listening to people talking to me while my head is in a bucket. This was the third year, and as always, I had it the last week of July, and the 3rd week of September. It's just about over, and if I am lucky, it will be at least 3 years before it happens again! skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com
  4. University of Illinois at Champaign has a Skydiving Club the Falling Illini" and they have been active for years. I don't know if they get credit or not, but they came to the Convention forever, and are still going strong skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com

  8. Ok, so I have been a little involved in skydiving for the last 14 or 15 years, and occasionally, I get a little excited, and overly involved in some little boogie or other. It has been a while since I have really jumped in with both feet, and I can hardly wait to hang with some of my boogie buddies, but having some young skydiving boogie organizer call me on the phone and really light my fire starts my boogie fever all over again! I think that Mar of 12 is gonna have to draw me into the fire all over again. I am gonna save my cash, save my vacation time and really spend the whole month of Mar hanging with Boogie buddies. I love you guys! skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, although I know with alzheimers, the loss actually happens so far in advance of the death. (At least that is how it happened for my grandma) We will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers! skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com

So I have been getting my airshow fix doing Oshkosh, and this thread was going on, while I was working up there. I missed it entirely until tonight. You guys are all making me lonesome for all of the hard work, hot days, sleepless nights and all of YOU! I would come home from the WFFC after having been there for 4 to 6 weeks, since that is what it took to put it together, put it on,and put it to bed. I would have no voice, no cash and no skin (burned bad, year after year). Man, I would do it again in a heartbeat! hey Mark, did I miss a call from you? 22. I was watching you guys open, just as that huge wind storm blew up. I was gonna grab a cart and go out and look for you, but just as I got to the cart shack, they announced you guys were all ok, so I rescued other people instead. Sorry I didn't get to hang with you. We stayed in the Binder House, where were you located? skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com

  25. Woohoo. Should work for a 7min lecture with whuffos, but imagine you'd do it with skydivers I'd take this topic. Should be very interesting to whuffos and hey, the gear stuff is all visual aids, huh? We've provided this for the whuffos who help at the WFFC every year before the event begins. One guy in a parachute, the other pulling it out, and explaining. It is fascinating every single time, and nobody EVER walks out on the talk, even tho they can. skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com
