Looking at a rig, trying to figure out what the price range should look like. And what a fair offer might be. Hard to find something similar in the classifieds. Don't want to rip myself off, but don't want to send an insulting offer "Javelin J3 - DOM 2000 PISA Hornet 190 - DOM 2000 FC Firelite 170r - DOM 1990 no rides Cypress servicable through early 2013 Clean, good lines, with

Planted evidence, two. Blatant disregard for the constitution, three. Funny video, there. Surprised they didn't charge him with more.

I am well aware of the differences between our two tax systems and well aware of where Canada and the US are different from each other and where we are similar. Currently it is actually cheaper for me to live in Alberta since I own a house here and it's paid off. But I had a great time when I called Colorado home and CO has some of the best weather anywhere. I don't know it all in life, I only know what I have been exposed to. But I honestly don't think I need you giving me advice on what life is like in these two countries. I have lived and worked in both countries? Have you? I was 100% kidding, with my advice My only real point is that $12cad in a Canadian WalMart is irrelevant to what they pay in the US. Don't take anything else I said to heart I love Canada. "Lived there" as a perpetual tourist, and probably will again. Did not work there. And you're right about Colorado, I may be heading back later this summer.

I only pay 5% sales tax. Well considering you can't even walk from your igloo to your snowmobile without slipping on frozen polar bear shit, I think you deserve the break I kid, I kid. I love Canada, but you can't really compare wages is what I'm sayin. You'd probably make more money joining the family dogsled operation, since you'd get paid in maple syrup and the exchange is highly favorable right now.. But this advice I'm givin ya, see, it's worth good money, so I'm gonna stop myself right here!

I usually pay far less (shelf price) for the same item in the US vs Canada. So your slight edge means nothing when you pay $600 and I pay $495 Or $225 vs $160 PLUS your 13% sales tax (7% here) And isn't your income taxed at almost 30%? (20~ here) Do the math and cad$12/hr ends up being close to US minimum wage

Verification signatures in logbooks

Then USPA could check my signature on file (i'm sure they file paperwork somewhere) or contact to verify, right? -
Verification signatures in logbooks
adamx replied to AndrewKarnowski's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Out of curiosity, why did he have that type of signature? Was he a child, or have literacy issues, or English-language issues, or a disability? - Or just a personal preference? Personal preference. My signature is a nick name, not first-last. -
Verification signatures in logbooks
adamx replied to AndrewKarnowski's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It's funny how many people think a signature has to be your name written in cursive. Legal definition: "A mark or sign made by an individual on an instrument or document to signify knowledge, approval, acceptance, or obligation. The term signature is generally understood to mean the signing of a written document with one's own hand. However, it is not critical that a signature actually be written by hand for it to be legally valid. It may, for example, be typewritten, engraved, or stamped. The purpose of a signature is to authenticate a writing, or provide notice of its source, and to bind the individual signing the writing by the provisions contained in the document. Because a signature can obligate a party to terms of a contract or verify that the person intended to make a last will and testament, the law has developed rules that govern what constitutes a legally valid signature. The Internet and other forms of telecommunication have created the need to transact legally binding agreements electronically. Almost all states have passed laws that recognize the validity of "digital signatures." We had to look that up when the bank didn't want to accept my brothers signature (a star with a little drawing) -
If i'm there after the last load when everyone has dispersed, i'll pick up all the trash. Usually 20+ bottles/open soda cans + food trash attracting bugs to the packing area. Figure its the least I can do. A bunch of animals, these skydiving types! [/hijack ]

Foreigners working skydiving in the US
adamx replied to lippy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Maybe the 100th guy knows the difference between a tandem rig and an ordinary rig, knows that tandem masters usually get paid for their work, and is suspicious when they glance in your car and see your tandem rig? Do tandem masters usually own their tandem rig, and if they do, do they transport it back and forth to the DZ? I've never heard of such a thing. -
USPA Issues D-30,000 USPA just passed another milestone by issuing D-30,000. In 1959, the Parachute Club of America (USPA's predecessor) issued D-1 to Lewis Sanborn. Twenty-six years later, Randy Thurston was issued D-10,000; 12 years after that, the Honorable George H.W. Bush was issued Honorary D-20,000. It’s been another 12 years, and this morning, Josh Schellenburg of Duluth, Minnesota, was issued D-30,000. Congrats, Josh!

adamx replied to Ralph_W's topic in Events & Places to Jump
In that case, i've never even been to the farm.. But I met a guy that used to jump there. He seemed wayyyyy sketchy, even looked at me funny at one point. Hopefully I can come down, get a free jump and clear up this bad air. See ya soon -
During my AFF, I was required to PLF the first 4 landings. All 4 could have been really smooth stand up landings. It kind of pissed me off at the time. Why would I PLF an otherwise smooth landing?! Either way, I went home and practiced PLF's after every jump. Lots of them. To simulate the forward motion of the canopy, I progressed on the ground to a running speed/spring off 1' plyo box/feet and knees together while airborn/hands in flare position/hit the ground in a PLF. I did hundreds, until I was GOOD at them. Around jump 5 they gave me the go ahead to start standing them up. Since then, i've stood every one up. Well...except for that ONE.. The wind picked up, carrying me extra long. Got really turbulent about 20' off the ground. I was getting tossed side to side, and boy I was booking. Full flare on the big F111 canopy felt like it didn't slow me down an inch. Split second, feet and knees together, PLF. I didn't have a scratch on me. If I would have tried to stick that landing, or just had a bad PLF (which I see a lot of.. going straight to knees/straight to butt slide/straight onto your face/etc) I might have been limping away or worse. I'm VERY thankful they drilled the PLF right off the bat. Better to learn sooner than *ouch* later. THanks

I've done a bit of searching on here and on google but never really came up with anything substantial.. I'm a newly licensed jumper. Jump #27 was my first 4 pt 4way. I've got about 35 minutes of tunnel time, and plan on continuing doing 10-20 minutes every month or two as funds allow. I'm wondering about complete beginner 2 way drills to practice with other new jumpers, both in the air and in the tunnel. I have found reference to magazine articles about exactly this (simple beginner drills to improve skills rather than just throwing yourself out there with no objective, ultimately not learning much of anything), but haven't been able to find the articles online anywhere. I know the best bet would be getting advice from the coaches at the DZ who have watched my progression.. I'm just looking for some reading on this rainy ass day thanks!

Google is your friend Basically lots of compound movements that target your posterior chain (lower back, ass, hamstrings etc) stretching will surely help. my quads are always tight, so stretching them real good before helps to arch harder If you did just one stretch, do this one:
-
ab wheel rollouts, back squats, deadlift, cleans, standing press, weighted pullups, dragon flags, good mornings, high rep reverse hypers

Germain's article on the recession
adamx replied to zipplewrath's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Most people who are prone to freaking out would never DREAM of doing that first AFF. That'd be like going to a bodybuilding tryout and asking "If so many people in the USA are fat, out of shape, and grossly unhealthy, why aren't a majority of the people here overweight, lazy slobs?".. Because the lazy slobs aren't going to bother qualifying for the bodybuilding comp, just as the scare-dee cats aren't going to bother with skydiving. just my opinion
