I would take a dog over a kid any day! I actually think the are slightly less of a responsibility. People forget they are a living thing too. But to each their own. Yes I know all of this, I train dogs, hence why I said 1st year is critical. Also why I brought up she is never home and leaves the poor thing alone all the time. I am frustrated because most people do not realize getting a dog is work. Everything you say I already know and I would be more then happy to talk to her but she is never around. People tend to be irresponsible with their pets and do not bother to go through and research training BEFORE getting a dog! They just think it is a fashion accessory For the record I have dogs, worked (both on staff and volunteer) at a human society as an animal behaviorist and have trained and competed with my dogs in agility . Edited to add: if you don't have time to train a dog or properly socialize the dog then you have no business getting one. I would be happy to! But she is never home. It is a 8 to 10 week old puppy. For the record I am trying to be funny I know just a tiny bit about dogs you do not get a puppy then leave it for hours upon hours. This is how dogs end up untrained and a complete handfull dumped off at a shelter. The first year is critical!
