Diana Nyad is close to completing her swim from Cuba to Key West. I cannot imagine taking on such an enormous challenge. I have to be honest I had lost faith that she could do it after her previous attempts. She is amazing. She kicks ass. http://www.diananyad.com/

where is this info from? 41K does not sound that high. Given I know quite a few folks in the 20K and 30K region and they are still reasonably young http://www.dkellner.info/DonKellner.html google Don Kellner if the link doesn't work. Granted this is from 2009 Guiness World Record book, though I imagine he still holds it. It says every skydive he makes is a world record, how badass is that? The important point still stands that this thread is promoting this psychological barrier thinking that we must have unlimited money and no job to achieve the success we want. See quote below. "Don Kellner is both an amazing skydiver and an amazing man. The fact that he was able to attain and maintain a skydiving world record on weekends and after work demonstrate his passion for the sport that can still be seen today if you come out and skydive. " "After work"? His work is skydiving. He is a dzo.

I didn't read the entire thread so this may have been suggested. If you absolutely have a deadline to get there, ship your bike and then take a relaxing no time constraints ride home. Deadlines can make you make poor decisions and push too hard. Not relaxing and potentially dangerous. Sleeping in the saddle at 70 mph = bad.

That's news to me. I remember Espen from recdot and I understand he is on here but I don't know his username. Doh! Clearly I misunderstood this. Blues, Dave And I can see why. I was just remembering names from the past.

Burst Fracture of my L3 vertebrae (bad landing) on December 12, 1999 and made my return to jumping February 25, 2000. My experience? It hurt... a lot. I break out into a sweat thinking about the pain during recovery.

That clears up so much.

I agree. But then you get people turning right on red from the cross street who will take advantage of your patience and fill the gap you are waiting for. No good deed goes unpunished. The most common pet peeve I have in my daily commute is where two lanes merge down to one. It occurs in multiple places to and from work. I drive a big slow van so I always choose the lane that isn’t going away so I don’t have to merge. I try to maintain a consistent speed and be predictable in these zones. As I understand it when the sign reads “LEFT LANE ENDS MERGE RIGHT” the drivers in that left lane should yield the right of way to the drivers whose lane isn’t disappearing. Despite that I’ll still give way to those merging drivers. I just can’t compete with the smaller more nimble cars. Every day in at least one of these situations someone will pass on the left long after the zone is gone and drive in the opposing lane toward oncoming traffic. They will inevitably have to cut me off to avoid that oncoming traffic. Twice in the last year forcing me and oncoming traffic onto our respective shoulders to avoid an accident. Tough to keep my composure when that happens but I am trying really hard to be a better person. Not always successfully.

I dont remember a pool...? Tell me about it. They had to give my mother cancer in order to get me INTO NJ. 1-I don't know who THEY is. 2-I asked to be stationed any where close to home (NY)...NJ is the best they could do. 3-I'll be paying to leave quite a bit.Let's not compound a bad situation by jumping in New Jersey too. You can't be more than an hour and a half from Sky's the Limit in East Stroudsburg, PA.

It's not that black and white.
