Post the landing! I'm most curious to see how big the field looks on final approach, below 1000ft. + 1 I was all excited to see the landing area from your perspective and then bam!! DONE!! If you can post the landing, I think I speak for a bunch of us that would really appreciate it!! Did you biff your landing and not want us all to see?? If so, wait until you see how graceful I am. BTW - You're flying video already?? I think you're as much of a low timer as I. I turned off before landing but it was ok for me, though I do not plan to land on the strip again! Its all rocky and shit, with some sand but if you see the runway, all the way to the other end, theres a nice field of grass where i will be landing for the entire boogie. You have to walk across the parking lot but its no biggie, I prefer to be more safe! Ive seen guys with the same amount of jumps I got (80s) getting their asses hit kind of hard so I recommend that everyone that not always lands on their feet to use the area at the other side of the runway so we can all enjoy this boogie without any accidents! I did land out today and I but slided since the area I landed had high grass and I couldn't run in it but it was as soft as a pillow. You dont even have to search for outs on your car cause there are PLENTY. The area I landed today was huuuge and the grass was tall and soft since its that shit you feed cows and what not. Remember guys, this place made the boogie possible and taking the sandy runway aside, its one hell of an awesome place to jump! We all had so much fun today! I cant wait for Wednesday! See you all soon! PD: The landing patterns will be better discussed at the boogie, landing on the runway is not unsafe as it has a dirt field on the right but again, there is a nice grass field, for those unexperienced, that I recommend landing on. Its my own opinion, ill let you guys check it out yourselves on the boogie.

Heres the video of the new area. Im having trouble with the gopro helmet mount. I had to adjust the angle from exit since I hit the wing lol and after it takes a good gust of wind it bends over a bit. I tightened the screw on the side but it still moves out =( Has anyone tried the side pivot mount? That might work better for me... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nXOHkb2EKg

why do you think you can't get 20? you're going to be there for the entire duration of the event, correct? last year I got over 20 jumps in and that's with being lazy, without jumping the first day cause it was windy, and then slow calls on the weekend cause 2 aircraft were not enough anymore (and we had a big group so it was harder to manifest)... and still got to jump a lot. I'm sure you can get 20 jumps in, no problem. Going for high altitude loads in the morning helps... cause they determine you to wake up early even after all that partying. 5 jumps a day for 4 days is easily doable. Even 6 a day is not pushing it that bad when there's lots of load organizers to keep you going. I say go for it! I have to either buy the tickets to reach 100 in the boogie or spend my money on valentines day... I am actually going to dump my girl and try and get back with her after valentines! all for the sake of getting the jumps I want in the boogie! come on! you CAN do 20 in two days!

Sorry guys, ive been swamped with college work and I just got to read these posts. Good thing yeyo can pick you up. If yeyo cant pick you up, then let me know, ill leave you my cellphone via PM. I have not seen the new area yet! ill probably head down there this weekend and get a belly video of the area for you guys! From yeyo's and Jason's point of view, it looks like a pretty darn nice area and this time, it looks like you can actually WALK to the beach from the DZ!

Yes, camping WILL be allowed. Also, I checked with the Hyatt. I got a rate for $165.00 a night with continental breakfast included, free water and soda, free parking and no hidden fees. There are 20 rooms available. I will post the contact info soon cause the manager of the hotel asked for a meeting before giving this rate out. It was 220 a night and she lowered the rate to $165.00. This is one of the nicest hotels around the Dorado area, if not, the second best in Dorado. The best being the embassy suites. Let me know if anyone is interested, send me a PM.

SWOOP POND for Puerto Rico's Boogie 2010!
devarona replied to devarona's topic in Events & Places to Jump
well... I took a look at the new area where the boogie will be held at and found something PR has never had... its own swoop pond! lolz! Its what we call "posada" and its right at the northern coast. This will be one of the landing areas of the boogie, besides the regular one. So that said, I got some google pictures of the pond, which is pretty big, and some pictures of the second beach landing area. Theres lots of locals that visit this beach so youll all be getting praised, clapped and kissed in the ass for even an AFF landing down on these areas since Vega Baja has never seen skydivers before! -
I recommend that you stay in villa real! its a nice hotel and their used to crazy people like us on their hotel! Arecibo is less than 30 minutes from the new location and the only close spot to the new DZ is some small inn which is full. Other than that, youve got the Hyatt or the embassy and their all expensive. Arecibo is lots of fun so I really recommend you to stay put!

what days are you guys going to vieques? i think im heading there after the boogie...
-
The inn is called costa de oro inn and you can look it up in google maps as "Pr-697, puerto rico". For those of you who dont get a room I advise to stay in punta maracayo or hotel rosa del mar as it is not far from the new location and its not as expensive as the nearby resorts! instead of using coordinates you can search google maps for "xtremedivers" without the space in between or "skydiving, puerto rico" and youll get the exact location of the boogie! Im trying to get a government rate for everyone at the nearby hyatt but the manager is not in today so ill post if i manage to get us a deal with a federal government ID i have from a summer internship lolz. it worked for me once, lets see what happens!

the location is pretty simple: search in google maps for: Pr-697, Puerto Rico the inn is on that small street Also, the new location of the boogie is listed on google maps, search for: "xtremedivers" without the space in between or search for: "skydiving, puerto rico" and youll get the exact spot the boogie will be at!

Costa de Oro Inn 10 minutes away from the DZ of Vega Baja The room is $95 a night for 4 people. Ask for Rodriguez and tell him youre up for the skydiving event. 787-278-7888 He has some rooms left so call him asap!

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Noooo.... no shushing!! Many of us have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on this trip. I'll be pissed if I have to drive 30 minutes the other way from the house I rented near the Arecibo DZ, especially since it's after the time frame that I could've received at least a partial refund for cancelling the house and finding one closer to the other airport, if in fact it has changed locations. Spill it... what do you know? Yes, the location has changed, its less then a 30 minute drive. The change from Arecibo to Vega Baja is effective. You can call Jason at 7878525757. You've got no idea... I live here in Puerto Rico and Vega Baja is fucking awesome... The beach there beats Arecibo's beach by a landslide... The parties are gonna be even better... Camping will be allowed as well as bonfires and what not. You should keep the rental home anyways since it beats a hotel. You can find one of the best resorts around Vega Baja as Dorado is side by side. Take a look at the aerial pictures attached. And Dorado has many of the best hotels and tourist spots around Puerto Rico. Jet ski rentals, kayaking, badass golf courses (I hate golf anyways). Anyways, good priced hotels as well as cheap hotels can be found all around the area. In Arecibo, the hotels filled up in no time since there arent that many. Dorado hosts lots and LOTS of hotels within a 15 mile radius!

Ill be here! I live HERE! If you dont want to waste precious money on lodging then Ill talk to a local that lives close to the DZ. He has a big ass farm and might let you camp around without any problems. Transportation from the airport to the DZ wont be a problem, let me know when youre arriving in PR and you can catch a ride with me. I dont know if I can skip work wednesday to friday to get to the DZ in time to jump, but I will be there for the wednesday and friday parties and will jump my ass off on the weekend. If you really want to enjoy Puerto Rico then I HIGHLY recommend anyone to rent a car. Maybe a bunch of you can get together and split the rental of a van. I traded my lexus for a trashy old jeep cherokee so I can afford this crazy addiction ive got with skydiving and finally research a new product that permanently removes odors from vagies, so if the jeep runs down on the way to the DZ well just take a ride with AAA to the DZ. Anyways, this might be my last year living in PR since I graduate next year =( so I wont miss out on my home boogie this year! Im new to skydiving, but with less then a year ive jumped in France, Holland, Virginia and Delaware... Puerto Rico takes the cake so far! If anyone has any questions about lodging, etc., in PR ill be sure to help!

WHAT SIZE SHOULD I BUY!?
-
There are awesome deals around! I was thinking of buying a canopy I saw for a stupid price and resell it but I had to buy my own main first!
-
I got the first 150 for a very sick price. I was scared of a low WL in such a short time, but you know how foolish people are, they never listen until something happens... I tried the 150 and didn't find it to be so different. Then again, to be honest, I only judged that upon landing, not emergency evasions like the one ive read in this post. I finished AFF in february and ive been to 6 DZs so far, 3 in the US and 3 in Europe and the only place I got shit for my gear was in France where I had to rent a 210 because they didnt let me fly my main. The thing is, ive never been scared into upsizing, not until this post! After reading all this I think I should just sell everything I got and buy something bigger...

Jesus... I asked the rigger that sold me that reserve about it and he told me it wouldnt be a problem... good thing I used paypal and he agreed upon a return... Should I return the thing and ground myself until I get the cash for a new reserve?
