  1. thats just priceless, though the fact of it being on a bike does remind me of the accident that happened last week. a semi hit a car which intern hit a cop on a bike... only minor injuries though, he was lucky.
  2. not to mention that the certificate looks like they printed it from a regular home printer, and you cant even tell who signed it because its just two lines with a loop and a vertical line thrown in
  3. Kennedy is a pretty cool place and if you do go to Kennedy take a tour they're worth the money, but if there is a launch be sure to get tickets to it as soon as possible because they usually go within minutes of going on sale, or so says the tour guide i had when i went there the summer before last. edit: you could also go to Daytona beach
  4. oh, well Kapowsin has a $450 tandem to 18k, but that is the tandem, a video and pics, t shirt, log book, and what not, so id say its priced accordingly. but if it were 300 for just the tandem to 18k, yeah your right. fuck me running!!! $450 for what????? 1 jump, a $2 logbook, a $15 t-shirt, a video that you would probably laugh at then burn if you actually started jumping. what else??? a kick in the balls to boot??? what is the field elevation at k-pow??? and what aircraft are they jumping from?? jumping from an otter and im pretty sure the elevation is close to sea level maybe 20-200 above sea level but not sure. oh and i forgot to add you get discounts for your next jumps, but that is just going off the site i don't really know how much as i only jump there.

  6. altimeters are like the face of clocks regardless of weather its a skydive one or one in a plane (but most altimeters in planes only go to 10). the only real difference is that the ones in planes have another little dial (like the day or month thing on an analog wrist watch) that will show a 1 if it goes past 10 and then 2 if it goes past a second time, i think you can figure out the pattern. but the ones used for skydiving don't need to count very high since we usually exit at 13k and only really need to go to 12, but if you went to 18k the needle should have been at the 6 and not just under the twelve. and was it at the 12 in all of the videos or just one? and yeah if you had O2 on the way up it was to 18k
  7. yeah its a little like that, but they basically sell the gift certificates to anyone anywhere and only have 0-2 places you can redeem the gift certificates that are within driving distance to most people and for more info just search skyride and you'll find plenty of threads about them
  8. and im glad i did and to always use usted when talking to your elders in spanish
  9. congrats once i get my A we should do some RW, kapowsin is where i jump also
  10. Maybe it was a 767-283. can anyone say D.B. Cooper? (p.s. i know he jump from a 727 just messing around) and congrats on the 1st jump
  11. i almost forgot to say i just about have my math teacher doing an IAD course
  12. i think aff is better only because it gets you free fall experience right away and you can know "if i do X then Y will happen" and you learn free fall control faster i think unless you have a wind tunnel you could go to but aff is more expensive and takes less time but iad is cheaper
  13. oh yeah, it sucks when you do that and no one knows what your talking about, ive done that with my friends who have never skydived and use skydiving references and i just get weird looks.
  14. yeah i sort of do that too, but most of my friends have always wanted to skydive though im just the first one to actually do it and i live the closest to the DZ
  15. yeah that is true not to mention most new phones with out a full key board have a word program on them so you don't need the text type thing.
  16. yeah ive done that too only my friends are waiting until spring to do their aff
  17. does not seem to stop a lot of the licensed jumpers who post here. very true in some cases
  18. yeah i was wondering why she was posting at 10:45 in the morning on here, unless the server for DZ.com is on the east coast. That would enplane her posting at 10:45 because in actuality it is 8:45 in Colorado.
  19. actually the USPA allows you to jump at 16 with parental permission but most drop zones wont let you because of accountability and other legal things
  20. haha wow what a coincidence to find someone my age on here. I had to pretty much do the same thing only i didn't pack chutes to pay for it and id go AFF but that's just me and consider yourself lucky i had to get a 4.0 before i could jump. oh and welcome to the forums
  21. also it looked like the student had a double opening, pulling his main right as or a little after the reserve deployed
