  1. How about Ctrl +O for the reserve ? This would allow you to go straight for the reserve 15 years and you don't know Ctrl+ O ? 2. I can see from a wuffo stand point, that this video really stands out from other tandem videos... However, from a skydivers stand point, WTF are these guys thinking? Ill give credit where its due, thats some fucking nice canopy skills, but not with a student! 3. Ku Band sat tv is great for pushing a large amount of information to a lot of people, but its not the best for weather. A properly pointed antenna, polarization included SHOULD see only a little rain fade here and there, with the exception of a hurricane, in which case, you should be hiding in your bathtub! Its a trade off, the freqs that Ku uses are WAY more degraded by rain than an X band or C band shot, but they have their perks too. Remember, there are 2 distant ends, just cause your weather is nice and not a cloud in the sky (you should be out jumping and not watching tv) doesnt mean that at the earth station the weather is the same. 'Yes sir, bad weather in Washington is preventing you from checking your facebook....' 'Why the hell does it matter if its bad weather in Washington, we're in Tennesse!' 'Solar conjunction as well as the flux capacitor and the ortho-mode transducer are both bad, Ill get replacements, should be another hour or so according to the weather chan I mean... First off, I totally agree with the WEP vs WPA... I can break a WEP key in no real amount of time, so dont even bother with it (yes, high schoolers can too) MAC Address filtering: If the guy can crack WEP, its a SIMPLE command to change his MAC to whatever he wants. As a matter of fact, I have mine as 00:11:22:33:44:55 Im not sure the support for WPA2, I know some computers/wireless cards I have seen have an issue using it, so we had to revert to WEP, but thats the ONLY time I would suggest using it. Configuring the router to use the security is too easy, even for an old timer, now, remembering the password to put on the computers, that part sucks! (Even writing it down usually sucks) "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

  14. Thats where the RTFM comes in handy. Most motherboards ship with the BIOS reset jumper in the clear position, you have to put it in the normal position before you can use it. 15. Presumably arctic silver and a static strap should be available at a local Radio Shack? Blues, Dave http://www.radioshack.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=artic%20silver&origkw=artic%20silver&sr=1 Make sure you scrape all the compound off the heatsync with something thats not going to scratch it up, make sure you apply enough compound to cover the contact area of the processor. Good point about downloading all the drivers and putting them on a drive, however, you have everything new, should come with the drivers that WILL work with that hardware, not MAY work. Static strap is kind of like an RSL, some people swear by them, some have them but dont use them, some just dont have them. Oddly enough, it seems that its the newbies who get and use them, I have NEVER seen a tech with more than a few years in actually use one. They may have it, but dont use it. If you're feeling bored, get a 1M Ohm resistor, some wire and an alligator clip and make your own. 16. Most of the time the heatsync comes with the thermal compound already on it. Technically, yes, you're suppossed to have the ESD bracelet on, but I havnt used one in a decade. What we usually do is touch the chassis before doing anything, just keep skin on chassis contact while you're doing everything in the box. You get used to it. Also using the anti-cling drier sheets with your laundry helps control the static. 17. Start with the big things, put the power supply and motherboard in first, those are the first to go in, or it gets to be a PITA. (it might help to put the processor and memory on the board first) Make sure that when you put the motherboard on the chassis, you remove any of the extra stand offs (if they are brass ones) Ive seen quite a few motherboards fried because of that reason. Most of the connections go one way, and one way only... dont force the memory, there is a notch in the bottom that must line up with the notch in the connector... trust me, they dont work the other way, even if you manage to ram that thing in. Sata and power are pretty self explanitory. PCI and AGP cards all are pretty easy to plug in, it shouldnt take more than a few pounds of pressure to get it in, if it does, stop, reseat the connection and try again. Make sure your connections are tight and try it out. One tricky part, MAKE SURE YOU RTFM, the power button, power led, hdd led and reset buttons are sometimes tricky to figure out, DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP. Power it up and try to install windows, Vista and 7 take for fucking ever to install... dont freak out if it takes a while to do something, just leave it be. If you want more help, pm me and Ill send you my phone number. 18. Most of my section and I were in Ruby Tuesdays yesterday for lunch. We normally go somewhere for lunch when one (in this case two) of our guys is/are leaving the unit. We hand out plaques and thanks for their hard work. So there was 13 of us sitting there, in uniform, eating and joking with these 2 guys who are leaving and we may never run into down the road. A guy we noticed was looking at us a bit more than usual, walked up after he finished his lunch, handed our boss a $100 bill and said thank you for the service, enjoy your lunch. Its a very odd feeling, we're very thankfull that there are still those who support our troops in a time when the GWOT isnt the prettiest thing on the news and the media is only showing what they want you to see. The look at our table when we all realized what happened... priceless. Nobody knew what to do or say, we just sat there in shock. None of us thought anything like this would happen, nor did we think we deserved it, but the guy had already driven off before it clicked what just happened. 25. You're SOL I'm afraid. In early 2008, the mandate to maintain AMPS was lifted. Even the off-shore carriers are digital now. You might find a geek on eBay to buy it off you. aaawe damn,.....what the hell am i gonna do with my brick thats up in the attic? It would take some work, but you could get a bluetooth headset and modify it so that it works using the hand mic from that. It will look like you're talking on that old POS, but really, its a bluetooth link to the phone on your console.
