  4. Actually, I think ZHills has the best combo of account/tickets I've seen. Each ticket is individually printed with the jumper's name and a bar code. Once it gets used, it's no longer valid. If it doesn't get used, it's still valid. So if I lose tickets, I just ask to have them reprinted. For load organizers who are turning a lot of groups, it's got to be a lot easier to collect a bunch of tickets than to write down names, hope you've spelled 'em right, and get money taken off of all those accounts correctly. There's definitely benefits and drawbacks to both systems - I like the fact that ZHills has combined the best of both worlds. Start Skydiving in Ohio has a RFID card for jumpers to manifest themselves. The organizer just takes the cards, swipes them all and manifests them all on screen for them to see. It has a balance restriction that kind of annoys me, but hey, thats not too uncommon.   5. thank you i think I will use that from now on. i'm not too happy with norton utilities nor anti virus just not what it use to be. fyi running the anti virus right now this new version of it is a bitch! You will have to download the file on a clean comptuer, if the comptuer is infected it will nto accept the down load, burn it on to a CD with an fake name such as go.exe then run it from the cd then go in and change the run name to sa go.exe and then the program works. worst 4 hours of my freaking year. thank god the year is over in a few days If its that fucked up, you're going to want to re-install anyways... it sounds like the registry has been jacked with. You COULD try a system restore, but thats iffy at best. If it werent for hackers, technology probably wouldnt have gotten so far already, and security wouldnt be used, so one person, who figures the system out, could take down anything and everything (s)he wanted. But seriously, sorry about all this crap, if you have an extra computer with a cd burner and internet, you can download a live distro of Linux and do all of your data recovery, then wipe the computer, install AVG free, THEN connect the hard drive with your backups, scan the entire thing, then copy your stuff back over.   10. How exactly do you hold your risers/toggles while you're doing this? Ill stick with the tried and true method, that is too complicated for that split second that you have to do it in a corn field, under a small reserve, in bad weather, with a cracked visor on the helmet.   11. Im with most of the people here.. your link is going up via satellite to germany where your gateway is. Different providers have different gateways, I think on my first deployment we were shooting thru Russia, second was Australia, 3rd was Germany, 4th was somewhere else in Europe. They teach these cool things now, front and rear PLFs... scary shit, but they work (except on that last jump... me thinks it was a bit too windy for us to be jumping) but all of them still go thru the 5 points of contact, rolling it along your side and across your back, you just have to really force the shift and rotate more than the side plfs. I dont think I had any real left or right ones on my jumps, they always ended up front or backwards And actually, its front left and right, rear left and right. It didnt make much sense to me, but they sure as hell work.   14. I agree with everything here so far... my ideal for any military schools: be the grey man! I JUST graduated airborne school last friday, and I assure you, of the 465 graduates, MAYBE 15 would even reconize me. Listen to your NCOs, they've been doing the military thing longer than you, they know what to do and how to get it done, just point them in the direction you want them to go and let them get it done. DONT be the guy who never goes out... Being if you dont go out with your co-workers (same rank and such) you will eventually be the odd man out. Being buddies with someone WILL help you down the road, eventually you will end up tied up in politics, it isnt suppossed to be that way, but thats how it is. Dont CRASH, thats 20 million of our tax dollars, keep it in one piece and in the air!   17. Congrats on making it this far in Jump school. It still amazes me that the drop out numbers are so high these days seeing how jump school has actually gotten easier over the years. Let us know when you stop being a dirty stinking leg. We had 2 quit on the second day, jump refusals on the 34' towers. I guess Im just wired differently. I had a blast on the towers. Not so much on the LDA or the SLT. We had a couple that were failure to qualify on the LDA and PLFs and the a bunch of dumb privates being stupid got the boot or recycled. Not to mention all the pt test failures. They say on average we will have a few jump refusals Monday too. Don't see why you would beet yourself up this much then quit at the fun part.   18. So, I get 5 free jumps next week! It only took two weeks of beating the crap out of me on midevil devices designed to cause pain to the poor soul locked inside its grips, namely the Swing Landing Trainer. Once I complete all 5, I get a nice $150/month as long as I do it a few times a year. Not to mention a purty badge! For those of you who dont know, I managed to get my foot in the door of a WAY oversized class at Airborne school, we've had roughly 100 people fall out so far in 2 weeks of training. Its been rough, mentally and physically for me, letting your mind get the best of you really doesnt help here. Ive made it all the way through the training (lots... and LOTS of PLFs) now, I just have to exit the plane 5 times and make satisfactory jumps, and presto-paratrooper! Got some pretty awesome bruises too, gotta love canopy release assemblies with no padding!
