  1. wow quick reply, thanks Dave PS i'm not designing it - it's been contracted out to a design company so i would have thought this was something that they would have done from the get go. The fact that the initial draft has come back (just the front page and menu options) looking like this has filled me with a certain amount of trepidation for what they are going to deliver. So basically what you are saying is what i was thinking - that it is quite straightforward to design a page initially that will work well on any resolution whether that be 800x600, 1280x780 or 1024x768? Thanks again "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  2. Hi - the designers for our new website have it optimised for a 1280x780 resolution. WHen looking at it at the resolutions we use (1024x768) you see 2 vertical "margins" on both the left and right of the main centre frame. Is it possible for them to design this so that the display will look ok with any resolution? From my experience, it should be, but i'm not super experienced and if anyone can give any feedback, that would be excellent! Thanks all! "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  3. i don't blame you either - if i owned 4 McDonald's and was making a tidy living off them, i would want to keep my head buried in the sand too. I used to eat a good deal of fast food until i read Fast Food Nation, and i pretty much stopped forthwith. If people can read that book and continue not feel guilty and contribute to what (mainly) McDonalds, but also BK and KFC do by eating that shit, not only to yourselves from a health perspective, but to the others who are affected by their practices, i don't think you really have much respect for either yourself or your fellow (wo)man. Then again if money is your driver (either making it, or saving it by buying cheap food) you aren't going to care too much for what is being said on this topic. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  4. i saw it a few weeks back with the wife - wasn't too bad. Man i could name a couple of dozen other movies out there that are WAY harder to sit through than this. I mean come on, it might not be wholly accurate but at least it has skydiving in it! "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts

  8. Ok so Bush won. Why do Republicans feel it necessary to rub it into the Democrat's faces so much? And Democrat's - why do you feel the need to try to belittle the fact he was voted back in, and how the country is now in ruins and you are all off to Mexico/Canada? Come on people, f**k the politicians with a banjo and let's all come together as PEOPLE are unite to try to make the world a better place, rather than stomping on each other's heads! Yes, this is the Official "Post-Election-Trying-To-Spread-The-Love-To-Speakers-Corner" thread, that may be something of an oxymoron but i'm going for it anyway, goshdarnit! Who's with me?! 9. thanks both, good advice. Will get someone at the dz to do it and i'll watch first time round. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  10. i have never done any work on my Cypres but would like to learn a bit more. Do i need to take it out of the rig completely or is it possilbe to just pop the reserve and work on the processing unit directly? Any hints and tips i need to know? I've read through the instructions in Airtec's user guide a few times and it seems straightforward enough - the only concerns i have are shorting out the internal fuse and - if i do have to take it out - making sure it goes back in properly. Any hints or advice appreciated. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  11. to be legal and safe, they should be changed this month (October). However, i can't see myself jumping over the Winter at this stage. Can i safely leave them in my rig until like next march without any risk of battery leak? I spoke to a very experienced guy at my dz who said it was fine, and that the risk of leaking was something that happened years agobut just thought i would be 100% sure. And no i won't be jumping it with the old batteries in there. Thanks "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  12. I didn't mean to imply the war was BS - i really am unsure about the war to cast a definitive say one way or the other, i guess only time will tell. I was just interested in trying to understand what it's really like from people there. But yes, i agree, any source, whether from the primary source or not, is going to be skewed somewhat from the persons day to day character and i'm not doubting that, i just was trying to learn more about what it's really like there. I guess the only true way to do that is to census every single serving member, and that's just not going to happen ever. Whether they are classed as whiners or people giving us essential insight is to me besides the point - they are still doing something that is very hard and i certainly don't think i could do and for that much i'm thankful. 14. i could be totally wrong (i'm really just trying to understand what these guys are going through), but i feel what these email comments are more about is the fact they are doing/seeing what you have described i.e. the realities of war, but rather than having their reasoning for going through this stuff validated (i.e. for freedom of Iraqi peoples/hunting for terrorist factions/searching for WMD etc, whatever it may have been their reasoning for being there), they feel that they are there to fight a war that has no validity in their minds anymore and that the death and suffering is more about a personal vendetta/profit motive than anything - hence the issues of contractors on the one hand, and ill equipped troops on the other. I don't know if all wars are like that - where you get troops thinking like that - i would have no clue, but i imagine they will all have elements of people who question the validity of why they are there. I guess it depends on your point of view as to whether you label them as incessant whiners who need to stfu and get on with what they are meant to be doing there, no personal thoughts should come into it; or, those who look at the bigger picture and try to evaluate their actions in terms of the moral impact it's having on those around them, and whether going to war is actually achieving what they personally thought they were fighting for initially? I really don't know the answers. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts

  16. perhaps, but that one LCpl in the Marine Corps, Sean Huze, doesn't sound like a whining, snivelling pussy to me. It just sounds like he has been put in a couple of pretty messed up situations (as have the others in those emails) and he has questioned why. Why does that make him a bad soldier/one you wouldn't want to serve with? "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  17. http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1319718,00.html I hope these are fake, because if they are real, i feel for these guys, what they have gone through and what they are going through "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  18. It says 10/04 (i.e. October 04). Does this mean i can do it at the end of the month? Can they be changed without the reserve coming out or not? Teardrop SF container. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
