  1. Interesting that you say that. The forums are full of complaints about sabre2 openings. I demoed one that was very bad in that respect (in all 8 jumps). But yes, they do fly well once they are open. I own a Pilot now. The forums are far from complaints about openings - i searched "Sabre 2 off heading" and it came back with a bunch of threads, only 3 of which had any relevancy to do with off heading issues. I read most of the reviews on this site in the Gear reviews section where people say "no more than 10 degrees off heading openings" "no cons" "wonderful, reliable canopy" etc etc. I do like my Sabre2 but i wasn't aware of any ongoing opening issues as a result of what i thought were pretty thorough checks (reading through the reviews of them on this site). 2. Im definitely going to try nose out, flaked on either side as i never did this before with my hornet which opened consistently on heading, but i guess it could be the characteristic of the Sabre2 that it likes it's nose out. I always quarter well and make sure the slider is all the way down. Will also think about less turn on the tail, cheers old bean "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  3. 90 front riser leads to a little bit of bucking - what does that actually tell me? "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  4. Que? You also better check your history books before making a statement like that (and if you can't be bothered, think Vietnam and the current Iraq war - oh yeah, that one, you know, the one declared "WON" about 4 years ago). You're a Viet-Iraqi? I coulda sworn you were a Brit. LMFAO yeah i sort of lost that bit in the train of thought on this one...shouldn't post too late in the day i guess is the answer there... 5. Thanks im definitely going to stop pushing the nose in and see what happens here. What other tips did they give you, if you don't mind mentioning them here. Thanks "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  6. Every canopy is a compromise. Try to live with it . This was known for long. I read reviews before buying at least. I read plenty of reviews thanks and not one of them mentioned this. It's not too much of a problem, but it is somewhat disconcerting. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  7. The law is quite clear and opinions don't come into it. If you shoot someone in the back, it's murder. How is it going to be argued as self defence when someone is not posing a threat, which is exactly what the case was in Tony Martins situation. I'm all in favour of using whatever level of force is needed to stop someone who is burgalarising your property and threatening you or anyone inside you home to fear for their own lives - but when they are making out the back window with the giro book and not posing a threat? People can have their different opinions but the law is quite clear on that one i'm afraid (both here and in the US). "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  8. I'm getting consistent off headers with my Sabre2. It must be down to how im packing it (or rather, how im not packing it) because i paid for a pack job for the first time in a while last weekend and it opened smoothly on heading. Im finding its a 2 stage opening - not much of a snivel at all, and then it tends to react quite violently as it finishes line stretch - i can get anything form a 90-180+ opening (to the point where line twists are almost induced) on virtually every single opening. The swings tend to be quite aggressive too. I have about 50 jumps o nthe canopy now, so its not brand brand new. I tend to push the nose into the cente of the pack job - which i have always done - but perhaps this is causing some issues as the nose fights for direction on opening? Im just not sure what i might be doing to produce consistent off headers - anyonwe with experience of Sabre2s got any thoughts? "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts

  10. Big ugly nerd? Stink bombs? Naked girls running screaming? Dude i wish i could have gone to your school! Mine sounds like a freaking sunday school compared to that Seriously though, as an outsider and someone who has seen the film, i didnt get the impression he was advocating that Cuba is a better place to live at all. He simply took some people who were turned down by their insurance companies in the US, who were in pain and unable to privately fund their treatment ($50 for one pill etc) that they could get good treatment in a country that - according to US foreign policy at least - is inadequate at even basic sanitary conditions, is the communist pinko enemy of the free world, and is a socialist love fest. It just sort of said to me "hey this is weird - we are Yanks being treated really well by skilled professionals who aren't charging us anything - why can't we - the richest, most developed nation in the world - have this at home, where we work damn hard and pay our taxes etc etc". 11. If you shoot someone in the back as they flee the scene of the crime in the US, i'm pretty sure we are safe in the knowledge you would be tried for murder there too. Cold blooded killing, no matter how many times you have been the victim of crime doesn't cut the mustard when you shoot someone in the back, end of story, sorry. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  12. I'm curious to know with the softening national housing market what the effect has been on traditional so-called "bubble proof" markets like SF and NYC. NYC i know a little more about, but SF i'm not as clued into anymore. Any residents/prospective buyers etc able to report anything they have seen, anecdotally or otherwise? Muchas gracias. 14. Dude you completely miss the point. As someone on the outside (i.e. one of those people looking at the US, on the worlds stage, as you put it) i can tell you - MM does not humiliate his country. Far from it - it actually shows me how much he loves the US. If you can take a step back from your hatred towards him and actually see that, far from him railing against how much of a terrible place it is, he is actively trying to look at things in a critical light and say - is this really a good thing? Now, his methods and editing and technique might be far from sound, he might lie through his teeth for all i care, but you know what - he asks questions and gets people talking about issues that frankly need to be talked about. I am a pro gunner and i enjoy shooting - or did before handguns were banned here. I think CCW is a good thing and most people are law abiding when it comes to gun ownership. But do i still think its worth looking at gun ownership laws, the problems guns cause and so on? Of course! Likewise i think the US has an amazing health care system - however, many many millions of people who should be entitled to said amazing health care system are not being served by it. Does that make me roar with laughter and point my finger in indignation at the US and say "what a stupid country"? No. It makes me think about how things can be improved, not just there, but here too. His films serve as a reflection for imbalances within countries that should know better. Just becfause he focuses on the US and is a US citizen doesnt mean you are the only guys getting things about face from time to time - trust me, we have more than our share of problems here. But you can't deny he gets people talking and questioning things - and that is crucial if we are to strive to continually improve the lives of those who come after us. Trust me, he does nothing to humiliate you guys. All he does is try to say "we are a great country but why are some things not working in the best interest of those hard working people who deserve to have the system designed around them" - thats what i get from Sicko anyway, nothing more nothing less. 15. So just because you think the US is a perfect country that needs no change in the way it's run, everyone should agree with you? Those who want change think that it is brought about by people raising issues that others (those who don't want change) want to brush under the carpet and not discuss. Using the old "if he loves Canada so much why doesn't he leave the US" is as old hat as that guy attacking MM because of his size and looks, it's yawn inducing. You can love your country but still see problems affecting people and want to induce change can't you? Or should you just be happy with your lot and not care what happens to others? Why Sicko hits home with me (after having watched it) is it's NOT about the poor, destitue illegals on welfare/Medicaid etc - it's about the average US citizen WHO HAS HEALTH INSURANCE and who won't be covered or will have to fight for their coverage from the health insurance companies who basically will fight you if they think they can save money, even though you should really be entitled to health care. The film (to me) is highlighting problems that average hard working citizens because the system has been designed to work against them. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  16. YAWN! People, if you want to attack MM, use something other than his size or looks, it's old hat. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  17. Thanks for the advice, i'll be sure to speak to my rigger about this when i pass it over to him for the repack this weekend. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  18. Thanks - i linked it here for anyone else that might want to print a copy http://www.sunpath.com/downloads/manuals/JO2007V3.4.pdf "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  19. I'm no rigger, but i'm curious to know how having a Skyhook changes or complicates the reserve repack procedure. I have a skyhook on my new Odyssey and i'm curious to know how it will alter the standard repack procedure. Thanks "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  20. Spent $6500 with Dave this year. It's a lot of money and i was happy for him to have every cent. There is a good reason why him and his team are rated so high on customer service. Thoroughly recommended. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  21. Just thought i would do my yearly "WTF is going on with the weather routine" Solid rain for like 3 weeks. WTF. I hate the godforesaken weather i have to endure here. Why can't i just be into darts or something. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  22. I didn't see that thread, you have no evidence i previously saw that thread, and considering that you didn't show me that thread before i posted my thread, and that as a result of not showing me that thread before i posted my thread, i have had to read other threads thereby taking a good 30mins out of my evening of free time, i feel it's my duty to sue you for approximately $48million for the inconvenience. Please expect a letter from my lawyer tomorrow thank you come again. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  23. with absolute bull shite like this... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/6238364.stm On the flipside of the coin, sometimes i freaking love you Yanks when you not only: a) vote in favour of the defendant in what is obviously a plaintiff taking the living piss b) call for the plaintiff to be disbarred and demand a tough line to be taken. America. Admittedly a place you can easily love to hate and easily hate to admit that f***ing love it! "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  24. A few years ago i asked why so many Americans hated Michael Moore. That was just after Farenheit 9/11 came out. I got a mix of replies, and he definitely deeply polarises peoples views in the US, which is interesting. I'm curious to know which people, particualrly those who don't like Moore for either his films content, subjects or subjective editing etc (all reasons that people stated why they didn't like him the first time i posted about him some years back) will be interested to see something that concerns all of Americans on their home soil, be they pro gunners or pro Iraq war or whatever (subjects he has previously covered where you can draw a line down the middle and have pro/anti clearly designated on each side of the fence). Health care, being more universal - at least on face value i would think - might blur those lines as everyone, regardless of political and other beliefs, i woudl imagine would want affordable and reasonable health care provision for themselves and their families. I read an interesting look at the new film on NY Mag, which you can read here http://nymag.com/movies/reviews/33977/. So, thoughts? Any real vehermently anti MM peeps out there thinking about checking out the movie? "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
  25. I was reading about it today, sounds like a very happening place, and lots to do for outdoorsy types. Anyone care to share what it's really like? I've never been there before. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
