Hey Kelly, in skydiving the word 'rash' normally equates with the words 'bent' and 'broken', both referring to your body after having performed the act of 'rash'-ness!! There is plenty fun and great excitement, adventure and enjoyment in skydiving from the very first jump onwards, so give it a try! It starts off awesome and then gets better each time. One day when you are ready for your wing-suit and BASE jumping, you will know it and you will know WHY you know it. After your first jump, the only regret you will have is that you didn't do it earlier 'To fly is heaven, to freefall is divine' 'You only need 2 tools. Hey Evelyn! Just some feedback. As I said last night, I ended up thinking of your mal when I was looking out the Caravan door this morning at 14,000'... But it was a great jump, and I did a total of 5 today. I am still sitting here typing with that big post-jumping grin on my face And that's the bottom line. When that feeling calls you back, you gotta go. And that's the time you will jump and enjoy it. Good luck and I hope that feeling comes real soon Thank you for sharing your experience! Blue skies... Holy cr@p!! So if I read it correctly you had a PCIT, almost pulled your cutaway but decided on the reserve. Murphy's law was hard at work and the PCIT cleared at the same time and the reserve PC started to deploy around the left main riser. You seized the reserve bag and got the reserve bridle and PC untangled from the riser in time for a landing under an inflated main from 200'. Wow... It takes courage to continue jumping after yanking the Reaper's chain that hard and walking away from him. Well done on keeping your cool and thinking straight in what must have been the most terrifying 20 seconds of your life... I THINK what I would do now is a couple of high pulls on the next few jumps just to satisfy my inner gremlins that it was a million to one chance and that it is history, and enjoy the canopy rides down. I KNOW that I will think about it in almost exactly 12 hours from now when I am looking out the Caravan's door at 14,000'!!! I bet the first beer after that lot tasted absolutely awesome... Blue skies, and safe jumping!!! 'To fly is heaven, to freefall is divine' 'You only need 2 tools. WD40 for when it doesn't move but should, and duct tape for when it moves but shouldn't'

Pleased that you made it through in good shape!! If you feel up to discussing it, would you mind giving a brief description of the occurrence and the remedies; would there be any useful lessons that newbies like myself could learn from your successful experience? Thanks a lot! Blue skies... 'To fly is heaven, to freefall is divine' 'You only need 2 tools. WD40 for when it doesn't move but should, and duct tape for when it moves but shouldn't'

I recently bought gear from likestojump. We have never met, and only once spoke on the telephone; everything else was by e-mail. We used a 3rd party rigger, who acted as escrow. The rigger found some minor discrepancies which may not have been obvious to likestojump when he was receiving and on-selling the gear, a small price adjustment was agreed to cater for these, and the deal was concluded. I wire transferred the money the same day. Both parties were satisfied with the transaction. I can only endors the poster who said 'communicate, communicate, communicate'. That truly is the key; if both parties are on the same page at all times, misunderstandings just won't happen. I will glady endorse likestojump for the representation of the gear he was selling, the way in which the sale was handled and the simplicity of the entire transaction. And, the next time I need gear, I will call him first. That is what it is all about. Thanks, Paul! 'To fly is heaven, to freefall is divine' 'You only need 2 tools. I'd add Pilot and Safire to the good list. I would add the Storm to the good list too. I have low jump numbers and I find it solid and stable, not a hard opening but also not a very long snivel; on heading with no end-cell closures. And there are no tricks needed for packing like rolling the nose. It has good flare power but you need to be prepared to use the full range of your arms. That's very interesting! Codey sure does look like a mix with mainly Pit in him. So maybe his 'ancestry' in the eyes of his previous owner was determined by his good looks I have a French Bulldog (named Leon) who I was assured is pure bred, and has the papers to prove it; now I would be a bit nervous to do DNA and maybe find out what his Grandpappy was up to.... My avatar name got zero images. Not surprising... My first name turned up this dopey-looking fellow from Fall Out Boy! 'To fly is heaven, to freefall is divine' 'You only need 2 tools. WD40 for when it doesn't move but should, and duct tape for when it moves but shouldn't' -
Good luck Saturday. I'd end up in Oklahoma if I opened in that kind of wind. Only if your canopy can fly at 50mph!! Saturday's wind of NW at 19mph would more likely send you to Houston But Sunday looks to be a beaut! 'To fly is heaven, to freefall is divine' 'You only need 2 tools. So, a kid calls a dealer on the telephone, says he wants to buy a complete new rig, doesn't need to come for fitting or choosing colors or anything, says he will provide his mom's credit card details and the dealer never even gets to see the card or the CCV code, kid provides said dealer with a random number that he says belongs to 'Mom'. 'Mom' gets a call from dealer ('Mom' could be sitting right next to kid and could be kids chick, for all that dealer knows) and says 'yeah, sure, charge it!'. And the dealer is comfortable with making the sale like this? I feel for anybody that loses money in a bad deal, but you gotta have some basic business practices... Picture of a sexy tuna salad was asked for... You need to caption this with a bit of imagination; something like a throaty voice saying "Oh, I would love to eat the tuna salad right outta those buns". Ok, well, ya get the idea! Hey, I need a new gear bag!! What do I need to do? Hee heee I need a container and a helmet HAH! Ms McSwervy, you have started something here... So far, there are orders for for a gear bag, a Neptune 3, a container and a helmet (and not some some old Pro-Tec, mind you!) Looks like you will be out of some cash shortly, attending to your requestees! But you sure will have a Cheshire cat satisfied smile on your face! Anybody else need any new gear? (Runs and takes cover behind bar fridge) Gear bag = a really, really good backrub. I'm a total sucker for a massage. Container & a Helmet - Well, I can't help you there but I do have a wealthy & single younger brother. Who needed the new Neptune? Hmm... That's worth 2 backrubs. The good ones. Oh, great, I give REALLY good backrubs!! Please make the gear bag the big one from Mirage, in black, with the Mirage logo on the side in red. The Neptune (3, not 2) can be red, blue or black, thank you. I don't want to be fussy (Apologies to OP, I promise to stop going off-topic now) 'To fly is heaven, to freefall is divine' 'You only need 2 tools. Hello Paul I see this is getting a bit testy... New or used probably boils down to two main things: finances and timing. If finances are not a problem, most people would buy new stuff in almost all walks of life. If I was a millionaire, would I buy a clapped-out old car just to save 30k? No way! Timing is important if the time it takes to get what you want is longer than the time before the event you want to use your gear at! The more important the event, the more important the time factor is in your decision... My 2 cents: I wanted my own gear because I wanted it to be available to me when I wanted to jump, I wanted to jump the same rig every time to assist in experience building, and I was a tightwad who wanted to save the $35 I had to pay every time I used the beer tent (aka the student rig). I also didn't want to buckle and break myself by attempting too much too soon. Finances, while important, were fortunately not a massive problem at that stage, and timing was that although there was no specific event, I was eager to get going. I also figured that on my own gear I could 'save' the $35 per jump, so the more I jumped the more I saved! (Twisted logic, and you can justify anything to yourself if you want to!!) 100 jumps would equal $3,500; if I sold the gear after 100 jumps for a difference of less than $3,500 from what I paid for it, I was ahead. I bought a Mirage G3 with about 50 jumps here on dz.com. It came with good extra's, and a PD 176 reserve. I am very happy with it, and the seller (who has been mentioned earlier) got a good sale too. Now, timing. I was struggling to find an AAD, as they seem to be as scarce as rockinghorse shit in the used gear market, so I bought a brand new Cypres and it arrived and was fitted withing 3 days. After all, I can always take it with me and it lasts 12 years. At the same time I bought a brand new PD Storm 190 canopy in stock PD colors, and physically in stock, and it also arrived and was fitted withing 3 days. After all, it is the one thing that has to save my life on every single jump. Being a newbie, I got my instructor to do the first jump on the whole lot, just in case there was a major snafu somewhere; better to be down here watching him up there...... My current WL is 1/1. The Storm is a 7-cell and I like it so much I would sleep with it if it did not rustle such a lot! Soft, predictable openings, 3-400ft snivel (estimation, as this still needs more observation for me), on heading and no problems yet. (The beer tent gave me 720 line twists on AFF 1, but that could easily have been my bad body position). The Storm flies at full throttle at just over 30mph, and has a lot of flare power, but I have to use full arm extension to utilize it. Bottom line, I bought some new stuff, some good quality used stuff, and am extremely satisfied with it all. According to my accounting logic, I will be in good shape when I decide to sell it. The future is not easy to predict, it depends on how I progress, how many jumps I do in the months and years ahead, and what my instructors and mentors say as time passes. But if the time comes to change gear, I would like to fly my 'own' colors, and also stay up to date with the latest safety and other enhancements. My present thoughts would be to order a custom Mirage G4 M4 with several options, including their new RSL system and if they have magnetic riser covers at that stage, even better. I will order a custom colored Storm 170, to match my new container, keep my existing Cypres and probably the 176 reserve. But we will see and maybe the plan will be refined... This post got a bit long, but I guess it can be summarized into buying what YOU like, that YOU are comfortable with, that suits YOUR experience and abilities, and will be the foundation of YOUR long and happy future skydiving career. Note that the word YOU is quite important! Blue skies and have fun!!! 'To fly is heaven, to freefall is divine' 'You only need 2 tools. It is unlikely that a dealer would not bother to follow up on a $5,000 loss for four years. It is likely that he would have claimed from, and been paid, either by the credit card company's insurance or his own insurance, or that the loss was written off and not physically incurred. Threatening FBI action might not have been the most suitable approach, if the genuine intent was to seek an equitable resolution to the issue. All that has been achieved so far is to ensure that Eric does not have a Cypres when he skydives... What about the original buyer who presented the stolen credit card? Was a concerted, aggressive effort made to track him down? Was the buyer sold a $5,000 rig without being asked for any form of identity, or providing SSN or address? Surely such verification would be sound business practice? Assuming the gear is legally defined as stolen, which appears debatable, the rightful owner may well be some insurance company. This is not a clearcut matter. 'To fly is heaven, to freefall is divine' 'You only need 2 tools. WD40 for when it doesn't move but should, and duct tape for when it moves but shouldn't'
