Having started out in the Army in 75, I remember on more than one occasion hearing snide remarks etc.. usualy at the airport. Its much different now. When people thank me for my service I always thank them back. Personaly I feel that just being polite and decent to an active duty soldier or veteran can go a long way in their re-intergration to civillian life

If you keep pushing people into the chipper the damn thing will break forceing the rest of us to bury the bodies which means I have to find a shovel, a place to dig-thats just to much like work. Seriously, I hope you have a better day tomorrow

What progression method did you use to become a skydiver

Did S/L first T10 front mount reserve. Did a boatload of S/ls and hop n pops Then pulled my head out of my fourth point of contact and went AFF in Perris in the summer of 82. Jerry Swovelin L side JM , Bill Deli R side JM, Dick Pedley flew video. I was one of the most fortunate SOBs in the world to have had the oportunity to meet and learn from these guys. Everyone of them is/was a true legend. I was the 11th student in the AFF program at Perris. One of the people just hanging out at the dropzone was Terry Ward. My lucky self showed up there at the right space and time. Terry Ward, Billy Reed and some big ugly Marine whos name is lost to me threw me into the swiming pool. I bought a lot of beer and drank a lot to -

I do not think that military service should be a requirement. When a canidate is selected the total experience that the person would bring to the job should be examined. I would not vote for anyone based soley on millitary affiliation.

Its the old saying"There are old skydivers and there are bold skydivers"

In my civillian job I see and hear of a lot of horrific crimes. This bastard set a new low. I hope there is a special place in hell for him. My heart and prayers go out to that little 8 year old girl, and all of the survivors. Espicialy the first responders to that scene. Nothing can prepare you for something like that

I was active duty from 75 to 85. 5 year break- went to school got remarried etc.. joined CARNG 90. I am nearing the end of my shelf life as a soldier.(hopefuly not as a skydiver) As of 2009 I have 29 years of service. At 51 I take pride that I can still hang in there with the younger follks. This is my second major deployment since 9-11. (I went to katrina but that was only for 3 months

God thats a name from the past. He worked around the DZ. I remember he was always trying to get that small patch of grass to grow by the pool. What about Ross Steer? The lsat time I saw him was Easter 88. I really need to start hanging out at Perris again. Those were fun times. By the way Mick- I'm glad to see your still hanging in there. I remember you, you were a young fiesty kid from New Zealand. Merry Christmas

Not at all. When you say Defender of the "One True Chimp with OakLeaf clusters you have earned". That pisses me off,and gets me rolling. That sir is a snide remark. You see I joined the Army at 17 in 1975. I remember comments like that walking through airports when wearing my uniform. I was never treated with the disrespect that Vietnam vets recived, but that was close enough for me.

It's not just Iraq Or any of the multitude of shitholes American soldiers have fought in since the start of this country. The only reason this country exists today is because of the sacrifice of the military. Is/was Iraq a correct move? That is debatable. Only the 20/20 hindsight of history will tell. I just get irritated when people make snide remarks about people who serve their nation
-
Thats OK. People like myself and mike will hold the line so you can live your sheltered life and ramble on about the evils of life that you see through your rose colored glasses. We work for this nation so you can enjoy the pleasure of free speech
