_______________________________ You got that right! I watched a guy run into one at the DZ under canopy... real ugly! Chuck

Not bad - but you should try the ones in Texas.

B test was positive. Apparently not only a doper, but a liar as well who takes the fans for idiots. __________________________________ I think that's rather typical when someone is 'cornered'. The way I see it, if, the #2 guy is given the yellow shirt... that's about all he gets. The guy was robbed of all the fan-fare and award presentation and all that goes with an 'un-assisted' win. Kind of an 'empty' victory. If, he wasn't doping too! Chuck

Good observations. I noticed the same thing, the uneven releasing of the risers. It's a javelin TJN, no RSL. My packer says he did nothing differently at all. There's always a chance that body position could have had something to do with it, or harness shifting, etc., but I honestly don't think so here. It spun up too damn quick, right off my back. Usually if I am off a bit on body position I will have an off-heading opening but that is the extent of it. This was definitely more than that. So it could have been a combination of factors. Keep in mind I was also wearing camera wings. Bottom line is - linetwists on a smaller HP canopy can become a headache quick. To me this was no sweat. I had plenty of altitude and I did what I needed to do to land safely. ___________________________________ Everybody is a critic! You are right, you did the right thing to save your life. If you pronounce something incorrectly, do you want to be told?

Just tell me. I think, it's better than continuing to mis-pronounce words. Chuck -
HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY Big Guy! Hope, it was a good one! Chuck

Maybe, Mom shoulda' let the girl stay-out till mid-night the night before! Seriously, that's pretty sad. That poor girl is in for a long life of misery. Accidental or not. Chuck -
I believe the SOP (for anyone in an authority position since all cops are bad - by definition) is "slam her ass down on the ground". not "hold her down". edit: I have a friend that will walk home if he's too far gone to drive. He's been stopped a few times. Some cops, even after hearing that he's walking to avoid driving drunk - will still automatically charge him with public drunkenness. Others, will say 'good choice' and give him a ride home. This "all authority" are evil stance just gets old. YKWIM? Cops, FAA reps, even some politicians (that hurts to admit), doctors (and pharmaceutical salesmen), engine mechanics, etc are people doing a job. Some are assholes, some are trying to do the right thing. You don't know until you see them first hand, in person, and decide what kind of individual they are. Frankly, I blame Bush for it. __________________________________ I think, you make a very good point, here. To 'generalize' people or situations is a problem, many times. Each situation is different as well as those involved. Then, factoring in moods, attitudes and the like throw generalizations out the window. Chuck

of course a proper PLF even in with a 'bad landing' will prevent nearly all injury to your hands.... ________________________________ Most of the bad landings I've seen, did not involve a 'proper PLF'! Most of them were fairly ugly. Chuck

Q: CRC Heavy Duty Silicone Multi-Use Lubricant?
masterrig replied to dorbie's topic in Gear and Rigging
I'd known it best as nail polish remover. It's a powerful solvent for lots of stuff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acetone I might test it some day if I can get some spare cable, but for cleaning my cables I'm taking the advice here and on other threads. _______________________________ I think, I'd be a little nervous about using something with acetone on a type of plastic. That would be me. 15 pounds is the maximum allowable pull force, but it's easy to create a much higher pull force by bending the pins. Mark I am not sure I know that method of packing, is it somelthing new? ___________________________________ I don't think, I want to know! Chuck -
Go watch "Cut-Away" Or "Drop Zone" or maybe even even "Point Break" with the fabled 4 1/2 minute free fall in it, and it's equally as humerous. I agree "Ricky Bobby" is a joke, but there are better out there. _____________________________ NASCAR racing is like anything else. You either like it or you don't. Same as anything else. Chuck

They can help to prevent 'raspberries' on your hands in the event of a bad landing. I always preferred the batters gloves found in sporting goods stores. They aren't bulky and the 'feel' is still there while wearing them. Chuck

BTW I still have a Nova 150, if anyone wants a canopy real cheap! ______________________________ ...and you're around to tell about it... WOW! Chuck

I'm not a chemist and have not recently, slept at a Holiday Inn Express. I do have a question. Isn't acetone used in some paint removers and wood re-finishing compounds? Chuck -
I did five, as a passenger for Insturctors to meet their requirements. Chuck

I've won so many times on those lotteries that I don't even read them any more. Chuck

I'll bet, those little thieves had no idea what they had when they stole it. That lap-top would be ideal to pawn and buy dope with the money. Maybe, after all the press coverage, they might've put 2+2 and it could've turned-out a disaster. Sounds like, they were nabbed in time. Chuck

Did you happen to see today's Nextel race? Kasey Kahne, wrecked into the wall on the last lap and nothing has been said about it. He was running 8th. or 9th. All I can think of is, Tony Stewart was in close proximity of Kahne at the time. Stewart needed points to get into the cup race. Hmmmmmm... Chuck

_________________________________ How could I forget Kurt Bush! Carl Edwards pitting Stewart on pit-road and lessee... I just think that Stewart and Gordon just top the list. About the only ones who behave themselves are Mark Martin, Kasey Kahne, Jeremy Mayfield and Kyle Petty. NASCAR, gets pretty intense. But... it's so much fun to watch! Chuck
