  1. Indeed, In such a society I would imagine that when kids lose, they get trophies...and when bankers fail, they get bonuses. Yay! Well ya'll go right ahead and treat people as you wish bless year heart.. I like that idea... then I get a clue early on who I need to avoid. I treat people the way they treat me. If, I don't like the way they are with me... I stay away from them. No sense pokin' a sleepin' bear. Chuck You are missing out on lots of adrenaline. Mr. Turtle, at my age, I don't need no stinkin' adrenaline! Chuck

  3. I don't know about that...white people calling each other crackers is like boasting about being a slave owner. Counting down..... 3 2 1 Enter Florida guy to enlighten Cracker is the term for the cattle driver. They used whips to herd the cattle, hence Florida Crackers. Whips are still used in parts of the country to move cattle. They are used for the sharp cracking sound rather than on the cattle. I wouldn't call those boys 'cracker', either! Chuck
  4. I'm familiar with the term. I had friends who had parents who hired black women as cleaning ladies who did house chores. They paid good, for the times and whenever I was around, I thought they were treated good and spoken highly of after they went home. I've learned, over the years that people can twist and turn anything to suit their 'needs'. Chuck When I was a kid in the 70's, we had a black lady from the country come in to clean our house weekly. Nice older lady. When a stray cat came up to our house one day and had a litter of kittens, we gave them to her to take back to her place. Giving that lady those kittens could be taken two ways, ya' know. Chuck
  5. I understand. I saw enough of that too. Chuck
  6. Indeed, In such a society I would imagine that when kids lose, they get trophies...and when bankers fail, they get bonuses. Yay! The 'PC' folks that I've seen, were arrogant, self-centered, verbal bullies. You'd better not be that way with them, though. Chuck

  8. I thought about that a little while after I posted this. You're probably right. The change website seems like a joke to me, so I'm sure it was done in jest. There are other products or brand names like Aunt Jemima syrup and Uncle Ben's rice that could be considered more racist in today's society. I put it all on this country being too deep into P.C.!! The way people get all worked-up over something as silly as syrup or rice, that have been sold for a hundred years, those products are suddenly 'racist'? Just beyond my comprehension. Those people bitchin' and whining about things like that were probably raised on those products... I was and never thought a thing of it! Suddenly, they are offensive and racist. That's what P.C. has reduced people to. Gimme a break! ChuckPC has reduced people to considering how to treat other human beings with respect... Sad isn't it It might be an 'attempt' at that but to me, It's gone too far. PC has people wearing their feelings on their sleeves and you can't even 'gig' someone in fun anymore without hurting their feelings. Respect is 'earned' You can demand respect all week long but if you don't earn it, you're not getting it from me. Hell, gang-bangers demand respect but they aren't getting it from me!! It's all gotten un-reasonable. There's a lot of folks I highly respect and they never asked for it. They did it the right way... they earned it. Chuck That offends me. You should be given everything. This is the entitlement society. Well, hell! I wish somebody woulda' told me. I still ain't changin' my thinkin'! ...and what with 'scoreless soccer'? Chuck
  9. It would need to be "hard tack keg" . . . Barrel leads one to think of guns and violence. Legs are for beer and much less offensive. ...and kegs are for nails, too! A different kind of 'hard-tack'! groan Chuck

  11. That was a word that was not allowed in the house I grew-up in! I have never used the 'n' word and don't plan on using it, either. I guess, I was just raised different. I still, cannot see anything racist though, about Uncle Ben's Rice or Aunt Jemima Syrup. I've just always liked those brands. Didn't Aunt Jemima recently get a 'face-lift'? Ha, ha, ha... We just need to lighten-up and quit taking ourselves so seriously. Just my thoughts. Chuck
  12. You got that right!! I've eaten at one and never again. They're no different than the Roadhouses. It's al pre-prepared canned and frozen food(?). Blecccch! Chuck

  14. This may give some insight... http://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2013/03/cracker-barrels-oddly-authentic-version-of-american-history/272826/ Chuck Oh, so it's not really being used as an offensive term referring to white people...Whoda thunk? Nutz... ain' it? Seems to me, Cracker Barrel is just trying to be 'nostalgic' but somebody had to come along and make it 'personal'. Chuck

  16. There was a time when 'soda crackers' did come in barrels and sold in general stores. Have people become so sensitive that they twist something to mean something else. It's all about 'feelings'. Just more PC, BS!! Chuck
  17. The underlying hatred that motivated their murder is far different from the others.. they are not the same. I would say the murder of 9 Christians in their church and the reaction of their community in a rather Christian manner by not rioting for Jordans after that "shoting" is very instructive... and I suppose its a great dissappointment to those who expected different. The move to remove whaat is to them a symbol of hate... used by white supremacist haters for many decades.... The flag was taken away from what so many of our ancestors fought and died for and then changed into something evil for those with evil intent. What ?I'm trying to say is, in all cases, they were innocent people yet the deaths of the Black people gets more attention? Even though a whacko shooter is responsible in each case. I do see what you're saying, though. Chuck I'm not sure what you mean by that Chuck. The media circus that surrounded the Sandy Hook shootings made the Charleston incident look small in comparison. There were numerous prime time TV 'specials', huge shouting matches about gun control, even idiotic conspiracy theories that it never happened. O.k., I can see that. Chuck

  19. What I am questioning is... why such a dramatic reaction to the massacre of Black people and a not so dramatic reaction to the massacre of White people in a theater or a school yard? Chuck
  20. I guess, what I don't understand is what seems to be a knee-jerk reaction to the shooting deaths of nine black people. Yes, it was a sad, horrible event but it is the reaction to it I question. There was no similar reaction to the shooting deaths in that Colorado theater or the deaths of all those school kids. Why, are these incidences different from the shootings in Carolina? The bottom line... people were senselessly murdered by some whacko. Is it a sensible thing to want to do away with a rice product or syrup or 'Gone With The Wind' or a flag? I just can't make sense of it. Chuck
  21. Here's one way of dealing... http://radio.foxnews.com/toddstarnes/top-stories/memphis-mayor-wants-to-dig-up-dead-confederate-war-general.html Chuck Dang, I better stock up. Chicken and Waffles just aren't the same without a topping of good old Auntie. I put it all off on 'political correctness'. I think the promoters of it have lost their damned minds. They take offense over the smallest, silliest of things and blow it way out of proportion. I'm sticking with one of my favorite Aunt and my favorite Uncle! Chuck

  23. I'd be willing to bet that a very high percentage of soldiers going to or stationed at those bases have no clue who those bases are named after. Oh... and I'd bet they don't care! Chuck
