Well I sold my R6 to buy a rig...if that helps. haha

I assume there are a few pilots in here considering the close relationship with aviation that skydiving has. My question for you is, have you found that your aircraft piloting experiences make you a better canopy pilot? I think the control inputs in aircraft and canopies are very similar minus the fact that you can't power out of bad situations. For all the hype everyone built up, my first jump landing seemed much the same as landing a Cessna. Just replace the yolk with toggles. Now things like 180 front riser turns feels almost exactly the same as doing a 180 auto rotation in a helicopter. Any of you guys notice the similarities or have benefited from your aircraft piloting when it comes to canopy piloting?

Best Dz's to travel in US between florida and west coat

I'll be driving from NC to California starting around the 13th of April. -
Lol Choooop it! Choooooop it!

Not at the same time. From what I understand C130s are used and jumpers are dropped from around 7k one plane at a time. So by the time jumpers leave the second plane the first plane's jumpers should be under canopy. Oh...lame. I was hoping it would be that many people jumping at the same time. Iwouldn't even care about a formation, just seeing 999 people in the air would be something to witness.

My DZ uses them for all the students. It wasn't too bad when I used it but I prefer a full face.

Hard landing while making a low turn.

I'm sorry but I found that video pretty funny. Just sitting there looking at your canopy going "UGH!....UGH!.." haha I probably would have done the same thing. UGH! Why did I do that? -
After you check in and check out...do a 180 as you exit, back to the wind like you're sitting in a chair. Your AFFIs will commend you on your freeflying skills I swear.

Vestibular disorders associated with freefall
I3uller replied to I3uller's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Has anyone on here ever had any issues with their vestibular abilities after freefall? Not stuff like jumping while you have a stuffy nose or not being able to pop your ears afterwards but actual vestibular disorders? Having a constant feeling of dizzyness or light headedness after jumps? -

Freefall Progression help for Newbie
I3uller replied to scholarkyle's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I can understand tandem jumps since its much the same as a normal freefall...but jumping out of a C130 static line under a T-10 round...just is nothing like skydiving. You just jump out and try not to break your legs on the landing. No canopy control, your exit posture doesn't really matter and most of the time isn't right because of the mounds of crap on you, and while the rush of leaving a plane is the same there isn't any pressure to really complete any tasks like maintaining altitude awareness, correct body position etc. I have 17 static line jumps but I wouldn't ever count them towards my total jump number when I'm skydiving. Having done both of them its just my personal opinion I guess. -
Freefall Progression help for Newbie
I3uller replied to scholarkyle's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Ehh....Raeford gets static line military guys ALL the time and my 17 static line jumps didn't count for anything nor have I ever heard of them counting. If you are HALO certified you can go through a quick transition course but I've never heard of static line jumps helping towards and A license....rightfully so in my opinion. They are two totally different things. -

Hey man I'm assuming you are at Ft. Bragg? I'm in the 82nd and Raeford is my home DZ. I did most of my AFF at Raeford and if you do decently in the AFF course you should be cleared for self supervision after 7 or so jumps. After that its highly suggested you get with a coach. I'm friends with a bunch of coach rated fellows that I can hook you up with. After your last AFF jump you can't jump with anyone other than a coach or instructor. You can jump solo all you want. Its basically a time to learn a little more, get some good instruction from a coach, and learn to be more aware so that when you do jump with other licensed jumpers after you get your A license, you don't kill them. If you want to know anything about Raeford or the process just send me a PM or hit me up on aim (instant messenger)...my SN is my sn here. You're probably going to get flamed for asking the same question that thousands of other people ask here all the time...so if you want some info just drop me a line. -

Ya that was my bad. I meant class G airspace. Even though as he quoted you can still do it in Class E with minimal effort. As for the black and white of the whole private pilot cost shared business...I really pretty much is. But the whole concept of it is weird. Take for instance the pilot that lived out in the middle of nowhere in a small community and owned a 172. His neighbor's father has massive kidney failure and is dying and an ambulance won't get there anytime soon so he decides to fly them both to the hospital. Neighbor's father lives due to the pilot's action and give the pilot some money for gas. Somehow FAA finds out about it and wanted to completely revoke the pilot's license. He fought it about 20 times and got it to a 30 day suspension. I find that ridiculous. Just keep it to yourselves and it won't be an issue...but don't go out and make a profit giving rides under a private rating either. -

I3uller replied to danny2485's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Careful with splitting costs when he only has his private rating. According to the FARs a private rated pilot can only split costs if the pilot and passengers are on a shared interest venture. Meaning he would do it whether you guys were in the helicopter or not. Skydiving would not count as that because, obviously, he wasn't planning on jumping out of his helicopter haha. It gets a little shifty in that area but just be smart about it and you'll be fine. -

If you are in Class E airspace, essentially the middle of nowhere, then he can chuck you out and pick you and and do it again all day.
