Anyone know who makes or distributes Sorz goggles. We are opening a new DZ and looking for the supplier to start a dealership. Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.

I also now see that the CX300 has an active setting, standard setting, and off setting for the image stabilization, even though it is listed as optical image stabilization Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.

what I read on cnet is about compression differences between the 100/150 lines and the higher ups. I assume that includes the 300, 350, 550, etc... Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.

Is anyone using the models above the CX 100/110/150? I know they have optical stabilization, but is that causing a problem anymore? I bought one for tandem vids (but haven't jumped it yet) and am getting ready to buy another for backup. I don't want to buy a 300 for back up if it will not work well, but I also don't want the lesser quality CX 110 or 150 if i can use the 300. Any help will be appreciated. Attention Indiana Skydivers

There was a conference call this morning (among Indiana DZOs and legal representation). There is a meeting tomorrow in Indianapolis for Q & A. From what I understand, the Senator claims to know nothing about this bill, he just passed it through as a favor for someone (presumably). Keep your fingers crossed! Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility. -
What could happen here is what WILL happen with cigarette and alcohol taxes... Eventually by raising the prices year-after-year, people will stop smoking. This will result in 0 tax collection, creating a larger deficit. Government will fix that by raising taxes on alcohol even more, creating a similar result. If they succeed with this bill, and run the skydiving businesses out of Indiana... Local and state taxes collected decrease (yes (most) skydiving businesses pay taxes, as do their employees/contractors), local economies suffer (no travel for purposes of skydiving, no eating out because you are at the DZ for the weekend, no fuel sales for purposes of travel to the dropzone, etc...................) In typical government fashion, one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing. Imagine if the government was actually successful as a for-profit business :) Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.

Attention Indiana Skydivers

I thing the backstory is that the Senator's nephew (aka Tommy Boy) needs a job that allows him to travel around the state and make free skydives. But really, this will do nothing but run all dropzones out of Indiana. Once the little ones go, then the big ones have to pay more, so they go. As someone starting a new dropzone in IN this year (http://www.plymouthskysports.com), this makes wonder how much to invest into the location. Glad I am starting with a 1+1 lease instead of a 10 or 20 year. I really don't think there is any possible way this will pass once it receives the opposition it deserves. I think (and hope) lots of folks will step up and voice their concern. If it can happen to IN, it can happen anywhere next! Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility. -
Indiana is trying to ruin small businesses, starting with skydiving. They are trying to pass a bill allowing them to hire/employ inspectors to make sure skydiving businesses comply with FARs (which are enforced already at the federal level) and BSRs (which are enforced internally by the USPA). If it passes here, it will be precedent for other states to follow. Ultimately they want to produce more bureaucratic positions (note: in a time of economic crisis for our country) and charge skydiving businesses for inspections. This will raise cost for skydivers, and hurt the businesses that provide a place for them to jump. Whether from Indiana or not, publish your discontent for this type of bill everywhere you can. Support the USPA (who is already aware and in on this fight). Read about the bill here: http://www.in.gov/legislative/bills/2011/IN/IN0387.1.html Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.

Join our group on Facebook! Group Name is: Goshen Skydiving Center Thanks Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.

We have a pretty clear understanding of the operations of the 182 DZ previously there (actually there was another DZ operation there as well (prior to the one you mention)). We are committed to start the new business with turbine lift power, something not available within a 100+ mile radius. There is a large contingency of experienced jumpers in and around this area, many of which work in the local industries. If we get this off the ground, we would like you to visit whenever convenient to you. Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.

The Goshen Municipal airport is in Elkhart County. The airport has a 6050' runway and a 2585' runway. Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.

D.E. and myself (both of SDC notoriety) are looking into (seriously) starting a turbine dropzone at the municipal airport in Goshen Indiana. The dropzone will be called Goshen Skydiving Center (GSC). Planned opening is 4/1/2011, but we hope to open weekends after the US Nationals (at SDC) if possible. We have a temporary website up (http://www.GoshenSkydivingCenter.com). Please make a comment in the guestbook and let us know what you think. We are researching demographics info to make sure we have a solid business plan (so we can be there forever). Initially, our primary aircraft will be a Cessna 208B (caravan), but we will have Super Otters for special events and from time-to-time. Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.

I am considering getting a CX12, and am also curious if the shake problem is over. Also, I use Apple for my editing, and is it possible to take the vids in a format I can get into Final Cut? I believe if they are MPEG formats it isn't really a problem, I can just take them off the mem stick and process in Final Cut. I really need an HD camcorder soon for a project I am doing, and would like a flash memory unit over miniDV. I normally use a PC330, which I have a couple of, but our project needs to be in HD. Most of this is belly flying, but I may use the HD for other sit/head-down jumps later. I plan to continue use of the side-mount PC330 for work jumps. I have met and Jumped with Cliff at SDC on a couple of occasions. I then met him at Hollister again a couple years ago. Cliff always impressed me with his manner and skill. I will miss him and wish to send my deepest condolences to all that were close to him. Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.

Yep, it is Martin S1tu4-pq9t8uy4-9jtqat4wp0. I won't even try to spell it. We're gonna have a blast. You should come do the second session (Jan 2,3,4,5). You don't need two rigs, there will be time to pack. Troy Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.

Thanks for the continued interest. The first session is full and the second is filling up. If you want to show up to see if someone doesn't, feel free, but no guarantees. Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.

The following is a list of participants and status (confirmed means deposit is in hand) Remember max participants per session (this one is 3 days) is 12 persons. 1. Troy Church (confirmed) PH: 815.955.5338 2. Mike Wittenburg (confirmed) 3. Jake Diliberto (confirmed) 4. Robert Cook (confirmed) 5. Nick Batsch (confirmed) 6. Brian Kurzawa (confirmed) 7. Javier Pacheco (confirmed) 8. Martin S. (confirmed) 9. Billy Ricard (confirmed) 10. John Zagoda (confirmed) 11. Mike Olivella (tenative) 12. Adrian Hart (tenative) As you can see, the twelve spots are spoken for, although we only have confirmation on 10 slots. First deposits get the remaining 2 slots. been on velo 96s for the last 1000 jumps (2 seasons) I'll be glad to see you there. They tricked me into getting tandem cert. Troy Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.

Not unless somebody gets hurt or gives up their day. A Session is three days (or four days in the case of the January session). There are quite a few people in collegiates who have expressed interest in doing the same as you, and you'll just have to check with us there to see if space is available. Javip: Most of the answers to your questions are in the original post. How much for each load is impossible to answer, but expect $8 or $9 for 4500' AGL You should plan on 20 jumps minimum per day, up to 30 if you like Jay Moledski will be there coaching, as for price, that has to be worked out with him, and he is very fair, and a very good coach. I use him personally, and I am tough to teach. Twelve spots per session (first session already has 6 confirmed, one deposit pending, and three more tenative, but first come-first serve, the first deposits I get are who is participating. Sure, even doing 90s, this will get you jumping alot. That's at least 60 landings in three days, more jumps than many make in a year. Video will be available as well. You may want one-on-one coaching also, and you may bring your own coach. Jay is also available for this. Other canopy you work you probably need is HAHO (from normal Skydiving altitudes). You learn about your canopy by flying it. And flying it relative to a coach helps you learn fast. Hope this helps. Again, ask to join the group I setup for this event and others: go to http://groups.mac.com/sdcswoopingclub You have to go to the group to request joining, then I can approve it. I wish it worked another way, but it does not. I'll have my website up early next year for this type of stuff. Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.

There is no minimum # of jumps, you can land next to the pond. You do have to be able to pack (or pay for a packer) and keep up with the pace of about 3 loads/hour. Coaching will be available, but it is not the best place to try new things, it is better to improve on things you've been working on for a while. Most people attending will have over 1000 jumps though. Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.

Wittenburg and I (along with great help from Jay Moledski) have arranged to get the cessna for tach time at Lake Wales on the following dates: Dec. 27,28,29 -2005 and Jan. 2,3,4,5 -2006. It looks like we will have a few extra slots, and this is the deal: We are setting up at the pond, packing at the pond and loading at the pond. You must commit to either or both sessions (at least 3 days), and commit to at least 20 jumps per day. Jay Moledski will be on site for coaching. All loads will fly to at least 4500 AGL. We are sharing tach time on a special reduced-price deal, which means that the more jumps we make (faster turn-around), the cheaper it is per jump. We figure as low as $8/h&p. We plan to fly a min. of 60 loads/day (that's 20 per participant on 3 load rotation). Max participants is 12, so if you would like to join in, email me soon. We will require a $100 deposit for each session to hold your slot (and protect the other participants). We will also have video for extra cost. As you can see, this is a great deal. You don't have to actually swoop, if you would just like to work on canopy piloting, you can do that as well (landing next to the pond). Jay Moledski will be available for coaching at both sessions if you require/desire it. This is an exciting opportunity to advance our sport and show precedent for our committment to safe, high-performance flight. I am sure we will fill up, so make your plans as early as possible and let me know. I will keep participant names/confirmations up to date on the group setup for this purpose. I am switching from my FF2 to a FlatTop Narrow. I will be mounting my 20D, but will switch from the PC330 that I have been using sidemount to a top-mount. I am looking at the HC1000. Anyone have good/bad input? Thanks Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.
