  1. Oh, that's not true by any means. They do have something to gain; their defense of the "war on Christians" and their egos all while maintaining some level of anonymity. I'd look at it more like, they have nothing to lose by lying. Notice how the waitress has put her face in front of the camera and the family certainly hasn't. I'm not saying that means one is more or less honest, but from a game theory strategy, the family has zero to lose on their side so far all while being able to attack the waitress. its NJ. i dont believe anyone even uses the word Christian here. im kidding mostly but its not a hot bed of anti gay activities for sure. our churches are pretty empty. this is a super liberal place. the family is not looking for attention. they, hard to believe in this world, might not want to go public and get on the news. my opinion, i believe them more. and no, its not because im anti gay. its because it just seems more reasonable. 2. to be on topic, imo, the family is telling the truth. they have nothing to gain by lying where as the girl and restaurant do. also, there seems to be some character witnesses that claim she is known to be dishonest. now for why i really posted. my favorite is the Duane Read(drugstore) receipt. i bought some chapstick, thank you for the three foot receipt. i chuckle a little everytime. 3. You are confusing Conservative with Republican. That is a very common error among the ignorant. Conservative philosophy has been a cancer on society, no matter which party the conservatives were members of at the time. Dixiecrats were the most vocal opponents of desegregation and the ending of the Jim Crow laws. Conservatives to the core, they were, at the time, members of the Democratic party. Conservative is not equal to Republican. Liberal is not equal to Democrat. you got me. anyone reading our posts can easily tell that i am the ignorant and confused one. 4. Lincoln and the Republicans ended slavery. Susan B Antony wrote the text for the 19th Amendment which was then introduced by Senator Aaron Sargent, a Republican. Civil Rights act of 1957, primarily a voting rights act was championed by President Eisenhower, a Republican. It was filibustered by Strom Thurmond a Democrat. Reading is fundamental. (edit to add. I am not and never have been a Republican. As i've stated many times the only party i've ever joined is the Democratic party. I just cannot stand stupid and dishonest) "The point is, I'm weird, but I never felt weird." John Frusciante
  5. If they don't like what their making they should just quit and work somewhere else... Isn't that the republican rational I heard recently when talking about Walmart... i said it, and am not a Republican, fyi. Only party my wife and I have ever joined is the Democratic Party. Along with Lloyd Blankfein and Jamie Dimon. Any reasonably honest person knows Goodwill and Walmart are not fair comparisons. I dont need to explain its so obvious. These people are paid a small amount while being trained for more meaningful employment. They are still able to collect their full disability while working and learning at Goodwill. The goal is for them to learn a valuable skill and find meaningful employment. Perhaps be in a situation where they can refuse their disability payments. the US labor movement is really showing their true colors attacking such a well meaning organization as Goodwill. 6. my point wasnt that there isnt fraud in finance. There are trillions of securities transactions a day. the overwhelming majority are not fraudulent. Mortgage securities were not created to defraud people. Enron didnt create financial instruments to defraud. They committed fraud with real time electric trading profits. Corzine didnt create fraudulent securities to defraud people either, he committed plan old bank fraud. So did health south. Ponzi is the one example you gave of a guy who created a fraudulent product for the sole purpose of committing fraud. It's a obvious crime and still rare considering how many trillion non fraudulent transactions occur daily. my point wasnt that there isnt fraud. every industry has criminals. i dont agree with a broad statement that implies the legitimate financial industry creates fraudulent products for the sole purpose of separating people from their money. the products have legitimate purposes and sometimes are sold using fraudulent means. there is a difference to me. i hope that is more clear. 7. Miley Cyrus is the hottest women in the world according to Maxim. any list that puts Chicago over New York, London or Rome is the Maxim Hot 100 of Travel lists. Chicago is a place people have to visit from time to time because some of their clients ancestors were forced there by the inability to survive in NY, London or Rome. Its not a destination for pleasure. Its a place that people from relevant cities are held over at. No one who has a decent east coast education (read real education) believes otherwise. 8. of course they aren't. they are not members of the One True Church. The one founded by St Peter, disciple of Jesus Christ. The Holy Roman Catholic Church. Neither are you though. Oh my... i dont like mocking people but you really ask for it by criticizing others peoples interpretation of Christianity with such certainty. It seems so arrogant to assume your Christianity is more Christian than theirs, when the entire thing is non factual to begin with. Which brings us full circle to my original post on this thread. 9. We get your point. I'm going to throw you a bone here. The hint to the fallacy of the claim the the Roman Catholics were the first church lies in the name of the church itself. The Roman Catholic church resulted from the division of Chalcedonian Christianity into 2 parts, now called the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church. You can't take a thing, split it into 2 pieces, and then call one of the results the "first'. There ya go, I used some math and some history to explain instead of the bible. Uh, i disagree. The Catholic Church can take one thing and split it into THREE. All equal. nomine Patris, et Filii, Et Spiritus Sancti!!! Yea, you have been owned. all kidding aside, I'm not a church historian and already conceded the RC Church might not have been the first first. They did come before the born again movement, that doesnt recognize them as Christians. Which is accurate to my broader point. Thank you for pointing out the historical timeline. Thats not sarcasm. 10. Ummm. No. The first Christians were Jewish. yes, so was Jesus. your missing my point. The Roman Catholic Church was the first Christian church. they invented the whole idea of calling yourself a Christian Church. Umm . . . No. The apostolic church was the first "Christian Church". They were the church of Christ when Christ was still alive. Not according to the Roman Catholic Church and they would know since they are the One True Church, duh. I'm not religious and I'm not going to argue the facts of a fiction book. Even if they are not actually the first Christian Church, which they are or arent depending on how you interpret your version of the your churches bible, my point still stands. My point was, as ive stated many times, that i find it funny that American born again Christians dont believe Catholics are Christian. its funny because they came first. (apparently not FIRST FIRST but before the born agains, for sure). And according to BHO, ACA is good for the country. Just because they say it, doesn't make it true.

  12. Ummm. No. The first Christians were Jewish. yes, so was Jesus. your missing my point. The Roman Catholic Church was the first Christian church. they invented the whole idea of calling yourself a Christian Church. "Acts 11:26 and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch" You probably ought to read the Bible before you make such claims. The Roman Catholic Church was the first Christian Church. I never said it was the first time the word Christian was used in a church. but that timeline of Christianity is not really the purpose of my post. my point is pretty clear and its about how born again Christians not accepting Catholics as Christians and how i find that silly. since they are the original Christian Church. I'm not going to get in an argument about the facts of a fictional book. so save your quotes. "The point is, I'm weird, but I never felt weird." John Frusciante

  14. after you read Dawkins' "The God Delusion." i just thinks its funny that they invented Christianity but born again Christians dont believe they are Christian. its like saying James Naismith does not represent true basketball because you dont believe in the three point line. he invented it!!! "The point is, I'm weird, but I never felt weird." John Frusciante
  15. what are all of the financial products that are designed to separate people from their money? you seem to imply there are many and the intent is blatant fraud. I would prefer if you could list at least a few since you imply so many. you dont really have to answer. i dont agree with your wording and implication that its common in finance to design fraud. not looking for a fight just wanted to state my disagreement. you seem like a good person so sorry for sounding douchy. (edited to add last paragraph) "The point is, I'm weird, but I never felt weird." John Frusciante
  16. Ok the trader in me has to say something. you know they are volatile and speculative. you are up good money on them. how about you take some off the table?? if they were not so volatile, id suggest 25% but since they are how about the original investment? or just a bit more with a profit, say 1000. then the rest is play money and you dont have to worry about a loss and still have upside. if you worked for me, i would force you to sell some or consider firing you for not knowing to sell some. either way, you would end of selling some. did i mention you really should sell some? 17. The Pope is the leader of the Roman Catholic Church. They invented Christianity. Thats why they get to be called, The One True Church. St Peter, the original Bishop of Rome and Pope was pretty close to Jesus i believe. Funny how born agains try to distance themselves from the original. I'm not religious at all, my parents are from Rome, though. So I love how American born agains claim Catholics arent Christian when they are the ones that invented the entire belief system. I'd say you are the ones who lost your way, straying from the original teachings of St Peter. I'm not spiritual, so dont care either way. I just thinks its hilarious how people can claim the creators of something aren't faithful enough. they are the ones who made the whole thing up. "The point is, I'm weird, but I never felt weird." John Frusciante
  18. not sure if you are making it clear this is satire. it is. IMO, its poorly written. not taking sides but if the Pope did bother to speak of Palin or Buchanan i'm sure it would have been a bit more eloquent than his fake quotes here. "The point is, I'm weird, but I never felt weird." John Frusciante
  19. I don't know what this has to do with the discussion. It's a currency, so it has no underpinning of value like the US dollar. The volume I've messed with it over the past 4 years has never resulted in a problem of transferring it into another currency. it is very illiquid by financial standards. You are trading in odd lots( small quantities) when you make a personal trade. im one little trader at one little bank and transact billions in a day. compound that by all the traders in the world and you get a sense of how little Bitcoins are trading in comparison. it has a long way to go before it is not considered illiquid. "The point is, I'm weird, but I never felt weird." John Frusciante
  20. I don't understand this line of thought. Why is it all or nothing? Can't you just invest 1% in it and hold? If you'd of bought at previous highs and held for a few years your return would be astronomical. Three years ago some friends from work and I bought $300 worth when it was at $12. Over time it sunk down to $3 and I bought a few more. He sold when it went down and lost then his shit when it skyrocketed. I had kept it and offloaded it at $200. If you think through the issues of today's money and understand the problems bitcoin solves, then it isn't that sketchy. One of the problems is how to loan $100 to a goat herder without the bank taking 50%, or how to keep bankers from over leveraging your money. It has insane practical value, but it is speculative and risky, but risk is something that can be managed. Mining requires a huge investment now, and you'd never mine a block of bitcoins without being part of a mining pool. Of course you can invest just 1% of your portfolio in Bitcoins, i didnt imply otherwise. My point is that, IMO, you better be prepared to lose your entire 1%. They are purely speculative, unregulated and do not trade in any recognized market. That adds a tremendous amount of risk. I called it sketchy because of its affiliation with money laundering, drugs and illegal arms deals. Those are not normally considered standard business models. I am not comfortable with that much risk but if you are, go for it. I was clear when i stated there is money to be made in them, just not for me. As far as understanding the problems Bitcoins solves, we are going to just have to part ways on that. I am a banker. I'm perfectly fine with today's current monetary system. I prefer to make a 50% markup on all my goat herder loans. Bitcoins are an obvious threat to that. (sarcasm alert) "The point is, I'm weird, but I never felt weird." John Frusciante
  21. i knew you were kidding. so was i. the way you worded it was humorous though. i imagine anytime your comparing an "investment" to Iraqi currency you have made a series of poor decisions. I find the mining aspect interesting. I would enjoy speaking to anyone who is involved in it. Def worth buying them a few drinks to learn more. im a bit of a mining groupie. i've fished with coal miners and find everything they say fascinating. also, i never miss an episode of Gold Rush or Bering Sea Gold. there is something bad ass about mining. since im basically a sissy, mining with a computer might work. hah. 22. I stand by my first comment. if they do not like their pay then they should quit. i do not need an education on Walmart, fyi. I love the company, i shop there on a regular basis and have been a shareholder for a very long time. I have no problem with their model. save yourself the time posting links. "The point is, I'm weird, but I never felt weird." John Frusciante
  23. I think you should strongly reconsider your "investment" strategy if its between Bitcoins and Iraqi Dinar's. I am not a CFP but i bet you have more and better choices out there. Hah "The point is, I'm weird, but I never felt weird." John Frusciante
  24. the entire thing seems so risky. everything about them is sketchy and speculative. I suppose if someone is a gambler and willing to risk it all, go for it. I would not put any money into them i was not willing to lose completely. I know nothing about mining for them but i bet that is a safer investment. buy a fancy computer and create the coins. then immediately dump them into this highly speculative market for a quick profit. worse case scenario, if the whole thing implodes, you are left with a very good usable computer. "The point is, I'm weird, but I never felt weird." John Frusciante
  25. If they dont like their pay then they should quit. OUR Walmart, the group circulating this photo, is a union backed group. Walmart's response for some perspective: “What these associates are doing is making sure if there’s someone out there with a special, critical, unforeseen need, that they’re being taken care of,” Kory Lundberg told TODAY.com. “They’re getting what they need and they’re getting support.” Workers in need may have lost their home to fire or had a spouse who lost a job, or be dealing with "something else you can't plan for," Lundberg said. Last year, 12 associates out of the roughly 300 employees at the store received help from the food drive. “It underscores what the culture of this company is — it’s to take care of each other," he said. "That Canton, Ohio, store is an example of it.” "The point is, I'm weird, but I never felt weird." John Frusciante
