  1. plus this topic has been discussed in here a lot.. do some searching/reading. I think it will be possible in the future may be possible now but only under some very very precise circumstances that you'd probably only get once in a lifetime
  2. Ah.. well i don't know how to get your mind to justify the purchase. I have a protrak, and i jump birdman. I don't have the protrak software cable and probably won't buy it, I'd like to jump but this and the protrak together to compare and get more "accurate" results of my jump. As my jumps get longer I want to record the entire jump (thus need for neptune). I do night jumps occasionally and like the fact it is backlit. I'm also a techno geek and like the newest toys. So i am able to justify it on more than one level :)
  3. It's all what you value. Its a multi function device can be used as a audible or an alitimiter, it can be put into a "training mode" for students to simulate freefall, it is backlit can be used for night jumps, it has some fun stuff like telling you the temperature outside, comes in various colors, like you said it's waterproof, AND it's cheaper than a protrak. So lets look at this : It has more features than a protrak, has more functionality than a protrak, cheaper than a protrak, and more colors than a protrak. I'm not sure what is the difficult desicion here. If you're looking at it from the aspect of "i just need an alitimiter" of COURSE there are cheaper alternatives. I can say that the customer service at B&L is hard to beat, i'm not sure alti-2 will be able to top them there. Kevin
  4. Woo hoo, I'm in the first wave :)
  5. it's got some other nifty features i can't talk too much on (i don't know too much detail) but it switches modes based on what you're doing, such as in the plane it has different information from when you're actually falling.
  6. Isn't that some chemical equation?
  7. Where I first started jumping, Yazoo City Skydivers (mississippi) it was run in an agricultural area - it was a federally funded airport that was used for crop dusting operations, the crop duster pilots didn't have radios and didn't want to fly patterns so put that together with skydiving it wasn't safe. The board didn't want skydivers in their town.. they passed some kinda law saying you can't land under canopy on the airport.. so what did they do? they took us up in the airplane and dropped us over people's fields.. so technically we weren't landing on the airport.. then they came back and said you can't bring skydiving gear on the airport.. I'm not sure all the fine details but needless to say they aren't running now. (i wasn't too impressed with the business or the owner)
  8. You almost sound like you're offering brian, though since i know you and you're far from any of that i'm wondering if you went this route to learn spanish?
  9. So do you have a bike or is this a new fashion statement for skydiving?
  10. I already got mine on order :) Can't wait.. Some things I do know about it : It records based on time, not on jump # forinstance where the protrak records detailed info for the last 10 jumps, the neptune records detailed info till it can't anymore (not sure the total amount of time it can record).. this is important with birdman jumps as some of our jumps exceed the record time for the protrak. The software will be out in september but they don't know if it will be free or not, you beam your info via infra red port. Software updates to the firmware are free, again it is done through infra red port.

    Bush tandem

its been posted i'm pretty sure :)
  12. I was already thinking about this.. was kicking around the idea of designing / implementing a gps/cellular based device that you can actually query and find out it's physical location. Would probably go in the reserve area (so it isn't "easily" removed) problems though is the amount of testing that will have to go into seeing if having an RF device close to the cypres will have any effect, also modifying a rig's reserve area i think is against the TSO
  13. Unless you've taught your dogs to use those firearms they do you no good when you're not there :)
  14. wow is this your way of coming out ? :)
  15. Dude is that horse going for the boobies? (in your avatar) hehe, he could be, they are about the size of apples.. So your mellons are the size of apples. Humm :)
  16. You got some interesting exits going on there, ever pull off the birdman rodeo? And nice flyby under canopy, you really see how fast you're moving with the suit on. I hope it was intentional . Gus We did a kick ass fly by this weekend.. getting the approach just right on BM fly bys is difficult.. hard to judge your approach and decent speeds, this weekend was the best yet (but like lou said we didn't get much video) I got within 50 feet (that was the guy's best estimate under canopy).. yes they are all intentional and well planned. Hopefully we'll get it done just right and have some great footage. The space suit is quite the looker!

  18. Damn man, is it your mission in life to hijack every thread and turn it into some flame session? *kevin pulls out his book of animals* For some reason I don't see f14 pilot in my great book of animals, perhaps you should invest in such a book so you know how to appropriately reply to this thread.
  19. you must have one big-ass fish tank
  20. I hope he practiced with an uglier set of boobs, because if he crashes those boobs are probably going to be a few sizes smaller .. such a waste to tear up such a nice set of boobs
