  1. I wish! Sadly I cant afford it this year. I SOOOO wish I could tho!
  2. yes those but also how people set up their patterns. If you like avoiding a lot of traffic, check where the traffic is and see if there is a safe (and make sure it is acceptable) alternative. Often I'll choose a slightly longer walk over being near the bulk of the traffic.
  3. No it's really really not. Just like you wouldn't expect a brand new ice skater to be able to do a triple axle nor would you suggest them to even try one. You have to learn how to perfectly skate before even trying a jump. And then start with small jumps and turns before learning how to do the big ones. Same goes for flying a canopy. You need to learn how to do the little things perfectly before even trying the big things. I really hope you listen the the great advice already listed in this thread to help you get to your goals safely.
  4. I'm with Dave on this. don't just sit there. Manifest usually doesnt do the briefing. They just tell you who to get it from or page somebody for you. It takes all of 2 seconds of their time. If you just sit quietly, you probably wont jump... Especially if you also take that mentality to the jumping itself. Once you get the briefing ask who the organizers are. Or who are jumpers that do your discipline. It's easy just dont be afraid to speak up
  5. ALWAYS ask for a dropzone briefing. I ask for one if I havent been there in a few months even. Policies change, landing areas change. Always good to know the current rules to follow. Make sure you're getting it from somebody in the know too. Manifest will know who should be giving them and who shouldn't be.
  6. just remember you definitely can't jump if you're not there. Weather changes. and predictions are wrong. I've had many weekends predicted to be crap and they turn out beautiful. Just go to the dz and have fun jumping or not
  7. Let people who you like know that it's your 100th. They'll make it special no matter what you do on it. I did a wingsuit rodeo for mine b/c I had been wanting to for a while and we had a skyvan. It was a fun jump but what made it special was the pieing. The entire boogie came out to pie me that night. It was awesome! I still meet people to this day that go "oh my god! that was you?" because they remember my pieing too
  8. I said no only because I like the feeling after a work out. If there was porn on the wall, I would just get horny. Then if I didn't get laid right after my workout I would end up leaving frustrated instead of feeling that awesome post-work out feeling.
  9. happy happy happy happy happy happy birthday!
  10. that depends on your dz and how it does its cases. some have a specified place to put said case. some you just stock the fridge. some you just start passing out beer. some you have to buy it there if you want it to be on the actual bar... so ask your dz
  11. If I wake up with half a mustache I'll want to know where it came from. I too would be confused if I had half a mustache
  12. ...and eyebrows fair game for a trimmin'! Oh that's just...wrong. Waking up with no eyebrows and & half a mustache is a training aid! NEVER drink more than you can handle!! or at least learn to walk around with your shoes off
  13. haha well it was sweet that you took the time to type it all out anyway
  14. Hide the pets in the dryer. I'm pretty sure they'll need to look there and to everyone else, it's electric. I want to see if I (or probably ski) can fix it before I go to all the trouble of shipping the cats off for a few days to my parents' house. It'll turn and the clothes do get a little warm, but they end up being only not-cold and still really damp.
  15. Does anybody know how to troubleshoot dryers? Mine won't really dry anything. It runs but all the clothes are still damp. Problem is we can't call maintenance, we kinda have more pets than our lease allows Anyone have any advice for common but easy problems to look for before I bring in somebody?
  16. I was JUST about to post this too! The swim team is HOT this year!! This one in particular intrigues me. homina homina homina. can i have one? please? pretty please?
  17. Doing 8-9 jumps on your body is a lot rougher than you think. Not just on your body but on your mind. You can easily get mentally exhausted, especially if you plan on partying there too. Is it possible, sure. Just be careful. Honestly assess yourself before each jump and make sure to keep yourself fed (with healthy food and not just crap) and hydrated. As far as weather and loads/day, you should be fine. That time of year is usually less rainy in Florida and Deland churns out loads like nobody's business.
  18. When I was a newer jumper a friend of mine "bounce proofed" my log book. He took my log book, flipped to the very last entry, filled it out with something like "that was an awesome jump!" and signed it. He gave it back and just said, "here, now you have to finish it" I thought it was cool
  19. I LOVE that sound. My first favorite in this sport though is the sound right at the beginning of a swoop. It's hard to describe but it slowly builds up into this beautiful WHOOSH during the swoop. It's just magic.

  21. Actually, the link you reference was the link Grasshoppergirl originally posted.... in the Glory thread!
  22. are we still talking skydiving??? but skydiving wise how about a horny gorilla?
  23. "Wrong gripper" Or, if she's hot. "Make sure you get a good two hand grip on that one." I've seen many a thing happen to a gripper that you would NOT want happening to THAT gripper
  24. That is so utterly sad and disgusting. Our country is in soooo much trouble in a few years. don't worry he's from Canada
