i'm just wondering here (i don't mean to be a ass if i sound like one) but how do you pack a line over?? we have had this disscusion at my dz, and we have tried to pack a line over, and every time it cleared. so what we came to is that a line over is one of those weird mals, and when we sat down, and watched a couple on video that we had, and talked to some people that have had them, and we noticed that most also had a hard opening, causeing the canopy to "breath" and when the canopy would "breath" the slider couldn't do it's job (keeping the lines from moving around, and slowing the opening) so the break lines, or "D" lines could get infront of the nose. so i guess you could have a higher chance of packing a line over if you what to slam someone. also we had a line over on a set 400 with a 6 grommet slider. the 2 on video were on a crossfire 99 and a crossfire 169. and i think there was 1 more line over this season (i think on a 129 crossfire). and again, if i sound like an ass, i'm so sorry, i mean it in no way, i just want to know your experience with this, and how you can pack a line over. later

rear riser review (1st landings)
skygod7777 replied to diveout's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
that thing with riser blocks, really what is that?? i have heard of them from this crw dog at my dz, but i haven't ever really seen any. and do you really find it that hard to pull on your rear risers?? i'm just wondering because i have notice the 2 xoas jumpers looking for a way to help with the pressure, or something to get a hold of. later -

rear riser review (1st landings)
skygod7777 replied to diveout's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
i pull out, and kinda out to the side too. sounds like you were pulling down a bit too much if you went back up (i'm sure u figured this out already) i haven't heard any one with a special rise set up. seems like it is more of a pain than what it would be worth. it would be set up grab fron riser pull down let up take hand out of riser now grab rear riser loop pull down, swoop get hand out of rear riser loop flare with toggles seems like that one little extra step would just add up to not really being worth it. isn't it easy enough just to grab the risers and pull down?? later -
well, damnit, i still had to go and hell i was there a extra hour ....................."i swear mrs. person, i wasn't cheating" "ya sure you weren't..........i'll see you tomorrow after school for an hour" (in mean, bitchy voice) oh well, i had to make up a test from a couple of weeks ago that i didn't even know i didn't take later

YOU SUCK. i had to go today later

i do remember this video, and the interview. but what i'm saying the "carve" that most people do, is still a hook. your getting flat with the horizon, and that to me is a hook. the difference, to me, is that you can be a lot smother with a carve, and a hook(hard hook) will snap you around very quickly. if you look at all the pd guys, and icarus guys, and all the good swoopers, you see them flat with the horizon, and they all say they carve. it's really is just a tamed down snap hook. but this is just my opinion, and opionions are like assholes..................everone has em................and they all stink. later

Replacing Velocity's lines with HMA
skygod7777 replied to JGarcia's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
to let you know, i don't know the answere to your question. but i'm just curious, why do you want hma lines??? i think the lines on the velocity's that the factory team is using are smaller than the ones that precision uses. i think, not sure, but that would make sense why they don't last as long. and to your question, i kind dought it, precision used to build fx's and vx's, so they would have the line trims, and what they need to be. so i dought they would have a velocity's. you never know though. later -
ok, who here does em. i mean real ones, not carves. i know a lot of people are starting to get into carves, but i guess i'm saying, if you get flat with the horizon, then it's a hook (may be a carve to you, but for matter of discussion). i know that i did a poll about this before, but it isn't too clear. so if you do over a 180 degree hook, post it here. or if you don't do over 180 degree hook, maybe just 90, say something here. if you carve put it here (don't ever get totally flat with horizon). and if you could, post your type of canopy, wing loading, and jumps under canopy. and how many jumps you have all together. lets see what some dz.com'ers canopy skills are ok, and to post mine, i do 270 hooks most of the time. but sometimes, i do 180 hooks, or sometimes, i do 360 hooks. or 90, 270 (i've only done this maybe 15 or 20 times) i have a 84 fx, 2.25 or 2.3 wing loading, 600 jumps under it and 1800 jump all together. later

if you are going to do it, first fire your reserve, and set the free bag on the ground (while the rig is on the ground too), then be very carful on taking it out. try not to bend the wires at a sharp angle. be very gental with it. if you yank on it, you'll pull the wire from the LCD screen, or form the unit it self. just follow the chanel that your cypress cable goes through to pull it out. and again, be very gentle when pulling it out. then once it's out, you could take you free bag (leaving pilot chute out), and bridle, and put it back into the container, then take a pull up cord, or string or something, and tie the flaps shut, don't use the loop, just tie it up with the gromets. this is just to keep it together a little more. or the easist thing to do is take it to your rigger, have him take it out, and not have to worry about anything. i can't imagine him charging you anything to do this, since he knows that he'll be getting money to repack it when he puts it back in, or packs it with out it in. later

oh, sorry. i didn't realize that it was someone that posted in here. later

there is a guy in texas that does some mod (i think he adds a brake line) that improves the flare a lot. icarus has tested it, and they say it's fine. i just can't remember what his name is. later

i'll second that. i mean really, GO MAKE A JUMP or something!!! later

Canopy Progression - the Pro's way
skygod7777 replied to garywainwright's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
no, i knew about the excaliber. i had forgot to metion this in my last post. i believe it was out in the late 80's. icarus came out with a crossed braced square zp canopy. and i can't find the parachutist from when icarus started selling canopies in the US through precision. later -
Canopy Progression - the Pro's way
skygod7777 replied to garywainwright's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
ok, i just looked again, and it wasn't the extreme that was out in the early 90's, it was something else (a square x-braced). the extreme is what they started working on in 93, and then was out by something like late 94 or early 95. then in 97 they started working on the fx. the extreme fx was out in like late 97 or 98. later -

skygod7777 replied to garywainwright's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
ya, x-braced canopies were out, i just don't think here in the states. if someone else doesn't find when they came out in the US, i'll find it tonight when i get back from class. the icarus extreme (not the fx) was out in something like 1991 or 1992. then in 93 they started on the fx. later
