BV's thread has nothing on the DB Cooper thread. It's closing on 20k posts. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Red Licorice Candy Good stuff, if you aren't one of those purists who insist that any color other than black isn't really "licorice". "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Really? So you didn't vote for any of them ... Well, in IL for US Senator we had a choice between a failed and possibly crooked banker, and a proven pathological liar. Which one would you choose? Smartass comment #1 - Which was which and how could you tell? Smartass comment #2 - And how was this different than any of the other elections?? Try to loot a store and see if you dont get your ass shot off. I didn't say that it doesn't happen, just that it isn't allowed (looting isn't allowed either). There have been a number of cases where people were prosecuted and convicted for wrongly using deadly force to protect property. And Andy908 is correct, Texas law does permit it. For the most part (Texas excluded) deadly force can only be used (even by the authorities) to prevent "death or great bodily injury", IOW in defense of deadly force. New to DZ.com - Hello and some advice appreciated.

The real question isn't about the instruction. This type of course is offered in a lot of places. It's certainly doable. The real question is about you. Are you physically and mentally capable enough? Are you in good enough shape to do 4-5 jumps per day for a week? Are you mentally tough enough to assimilate all the information and be able to use that knowledge when necessary? Remember how blown away you were after your first tandem? It gets less overwhelming after a while, but it is still very taxing. So the real question isn't "Is this TOO intensive for skydivng?" It's is this type of training too intensive for you. That's a question only you can answer. And realistically, this training isn't appropriate for everyone. Some do better heving it jammed down their throats in one big lump, others do better with smaller sips, taken over a longer time. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." When you get to Elsinore, ask me or one of the other instructors. We'll be happy to show you. It'll be a 3 minute conversation, and hop n' pops from an Otter are very easy. How many plane parts have you made contact with on exit? She got a pretty good taste of a 182 step. Details HERE. Congrats on the "A" Robyn!!! -
Can't use deadly force to protect property. Period. That isn't a new law or a new interpretation of one. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

It's unfortunate that third parties are almost never truly competitive in the US, but that is the reality. But unless one has oneself convinced that casting a vote for a particular third party will, in the long run, help that party become truly viable - a pipe dream in the US, IMO - then I personally think that the most sensible thing to do is not to waste a vote (or refrain from voting), but to vote for whomever comes closest to one's general philosophy. I usually vote for one of the "fringe" parties in each election. Usually for an office that doesn't do much, or when the polls show a landslide. Just to see them get enough votes to stay on the ballot. I would like to see them become more competetive in the future, as unlikely as it is. I cast more "against" votes, than actual "for" votes (Quade's "lesser evil"). And yes, I voted. I even rode my bicycle there because it is a gorgeous fall day

I can't complain too much because Mutumbo is one of those.... but I think he pulls it off better than if he actually wore it normally. HOWEVER! here's a good "asshat" if you will, for this particular one. I love the caption too. Is it just me, or does that seem like cheating somehow? Imagine want to be a champion so bad (but being marginal in one's own category) to having a sex change in order to obtain an advantage in the other category? The mind boggles. mh . The LPGA doesn't allow "former men" to compete. And are being sued over it. I can see both sides of the argument, and I don't really have an opinion either way, just adding a bit of fuel to the fire LA Times "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Wow, all of 13%. Truly non partisan. Well, considering that the Democrats are the liberals, and the liberals are far more likely to be in favor of gun control, it isn't at all surprising that the NRA endorses far more Repulicans. But they are endorsing incumbent Democrats over pro-gun Republican challengers, following their policy of choosing the incumbent over the challenger if all else is equal. Hardly "partisan" behavior IMO. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Well, considering that the NRA has endorsed 58 Democrats in the House of Representatives, it's a bit hard to call them truly "partisan". They freely admit to being a single-issue organization. They back any candidate, regardless of party affiliation who they believe will aid their cause. They recently published an editorial about this, responding to criticism from other organizations about supporting Democrats. Their response was that these other organizations supported anti-gun candidates and issues (They specifically noted the American Chamber of Commerce and their support of "gun free" zones in workplace parking lots). Friends of mine have done this on an occasional basis (they switch back and forth between a real dummy and the husband to keep the kids guessing). Her favorite part is when the kids ask if the (real) guy sitting in the chair is real, she responds, "no, he's just a dummy" "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." And don't put the shoes on until the pants are on. Gary Larson did a Far Side cartoon on this, I found THIS photo reenactment of it. Cocky/arrogant skydivers.
wolfriverjoe replied to npgraphicdesign's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It's really hard to be told "we don't want you to play with us". It's also something that is difficult to say well. I've been fortunate enough that when I've been told "no", the person saying it has explained that either the jump is as complicated as they are willing to go and my joining would add too much or that they have already planned and dirt dived it and really don't want to change anything any more. They have also invited me on the next one or pointed out someone else that would be willing to jump with me. 20 minute call and geared up really is pretty late in the planning process. On the orgainzed stuff I've done, by the time the gear is on, we are all set to go and any discussion is "fine tuning" stuff. And 2way experienced/newbie jumps don't really have a lot of places for a 3rd "mid-level" jumper. I've done a very limited number with a coach and a new A licensee. It was made very clear to me that my main job was to not mess it up. The coach and student had clearly defined goals, and my slot was designed to not interfere. When I couldn't make the specific slot, I was to lurk nearby and not screw up what they were doing. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Campus Concealed Carry likely to make a showing in TX this session
wolfriverjoe replied to rhaig's topic in Speakers Corner
Agreed. Some are responsible and some aren't. And There is a higher percentage of the "aren'ts" in the college population. The irresponsible ones rarely follow through the entire procedure and training necessary to get the permit in the first place. The few that do soon realize that carrying on a regular basis is a pain in the ass, a lot of work, and the weapon is (almost) never needed. So after the novelty wears off, the weapon gets left behind. But there are still responsible ones there. Some are the younger students, some are older students, some are staff. Allowing carry on school campuses would allow a lot more than just the students to be armed. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Campus Concealed Carry likely to make a showing in TX this session
wolfriverjoe replied to rhaig's topic in Speakers Corner
I have a real hard time with this argument. There's a whole lot of drinking and partying among a lot of the population. 'Specially down in "Redneckland" There's a lot of carry permits out there, and this is one of the "Boogeyman" problems that the antis keep bringing up. Domestics, car accidents, neighbor disputes and a wide variety of simple confrontations that the antis claim will cause "Blood running in the streets" when a carry permit law passes anywhere. None of which are occurring. When responsible individuals are armed, few problems occur. If they are armed they usually don't drink and if they drink, they leave the gun behind (don't forget that being drunk and in possession of a gun is a crime most places). Tack academic penalties (suspension or expulsion) onto the criminal penalties for being stupid with a gun and I think it would be similar to any area that enacts carry rights. A lot of hoopla to begin with, and after that dies down, a relatively few individuals who are willing and capable of defending themselves or others if need be. Is there a thread like this with female members or do I have to post first and wait for the replies. Yeah where's the equality!? A TI in this area had a heart attack (I don't know detail/severity) not too long ago. I don't think he had stents put in, but I'm not sure. He is/was in the process of getting his medical reinstated. Phree's post is really similar to what he described having to do. Blood chemistry has to be good, and a max rate stress stest has to be passed. It isn't an automatic retirement anymore. Good luck on returning, if that's what you wish to try for. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
