No. It's not weird. He (or she as the case may be) has earned your trust. It may or may not be practical for the DZ to schedule you with the same one, but it doesn't hurt to ask. You might ask well ahead of time, not just show up and expect to be able to pick and choose. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." I'm not one of THEM I just read it far enough to recognize it for what it was. I understand the main fault of most of these kind of conspiracies (Faked Moon Landing. Sept 11 being an inside job, HAARP being weather control and on and on) is that these kind of secrets cannot be kept. Not for the scale of operations that these things would take. They couldn't even keep the CIA "Secret Prisons" secret for very long. There's lots of shit out there to be paranoid about. But most of it is out in the open, not being kept secret. What? You mean you actually make sure the students actually understand the concepts behind the stuff they have to learn? You don't just let them parrot back the answer to pass? What kind of instructor actually makes the students learn??? "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Ski - Watch it. It is worth 2 hours of your life. Intrigue. Swordplay of the highest caliber (Movie wise that is). Suspense and close calls (Beware the lightning sands and the R.O.U.S.). Evil princes who are really cowards (Not to the death... To the PAIN). And arguable the best vengance line in a move ever. Delivered after one of the best confrontational scenes I know of - Inigo Montoya: Offer me money. Count Rugen: Yes! Inigo Montoya: Power, too, promise me that. [He slashes his other cheek] Count Rugen: All that I have and more. Please... Inigo Montoya: Offer me anything I ask for. Count Rugen: Anything you want... And only one kiss. I don't necessarily agree with that. While certain places, and certain lifestyles can be very expensive, those aren't necessities. I don't make a whole lot of money, but am far from "living in poverty". I just have to be choosy as to where I spend my discretionary income. I don't vacation on the French Riviera, but I have a lot of fun at the DZ. I don't drive a Ferarri, but I have an old Porsche 944. I also enjoy a lot of free/cheap recreation. Walking, biking, movies and books from the library, that sort of thing. Some of my hobbies also pay for themselves to a large degree. Being a pilot and a rigger offsets a lot of my jump costs. Reloading my own ammo and volunteering as a range officer greatly reduces my expenses for those "G" thingys we can't mention here But I'm largely in agreement with Squeak on this. I have a job that I really do enjoy doing (most of the time anyway). Although it can be stressful or very boring, it can also be a real adventure, depending on how I look at it. So I voted "Boobies" too. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Does he know what those are? Well, considering that the Copts consider themselves Christian, I think he would teach them. And practicing Rastas smoke weed don't they? (if I'm wrong, let me know). They aren't allowed to own firearms under federal law if they do. So they can't take the class anyway. Edit to add: Quade's right. He's simply pandering to his customer base. He's probably generating far more support among the bigots and idiots compared to the few that are turned off by his behavior. Based on his comments, I'd be really cautious taking any advice he might give in the class, too. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." You are forgetting (or ignoring) the fact that a lot of illegals pay taxes. Many work under the table for cash, but there are a lot that work "on the books." Look at all the raids at the meat-packing plants. Those places aren't paying cash. The illegals either use fake SSNs, which results in them not receiving any credit for what they've paid in; or they use IRS Tax ID numbers to pay taxes. And the link conviently ignores that fire, police and local schools are mostly paid for out of property taxes. If you are paying rent, the landlord uses part of that to pay his property taxes. Is this part of the whole Skyride ring?
wolfriverjoe replied to xtheowl's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
"Most of these websites are fraudulent and do not represent real skydive centers. Be advised that the skydive centers listed on this page in RED are affiliated with 1 800 Skyride and should not be patronized. The Skydive Centers highlighted in Orange are NOT affiliated with 1 800 Skyride and are very reputable and we highly recommend them!" Wow talk about mixed messages!!! Most are frauds, but some we highly recommend... I just added that paragraph last night just to rub a little salt in the wounds. LMAO!!!! How about a different color for better contrast? Just a little feedback. Red - BAD Green - GOOD And you might word the part about fraudulent websites a little better too. As it is, it can be read that the sites listed on your page are some of the "pretend DZs" that don't actually exist. Maybe something along the lines of "Many of the websites that come up in a search are made up to attract business to the scammers. These are fraudulent and do not represent real DZs. The places listed here are actual DZs but we only recommend those that don't take the gift certs put out by the scam artists" "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Quit crimping caps with your teeth, goofball!! But... but... why? Because it's really hard on your teeth. I know it has a very low risk of blowing your mouth off, but it's really hard on your teeth and jaws. Kinda like using your teeth to open bottle caps. You can only do it for so long before you get major damage. Don't they make tools for that? "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." It has a success rate approximately the same as not doing it. I'd call that a bullshit solution. Do you have any backup for that? (Honest question, not just normal SC bullshit) Keep in mind, I'm talking about real alcoholism, where the person wants to stop, but can't. And I'm also talking about those who truly apply it, not the ones who are forced to by courts, family, jobs, whatever. Lots of other stuff has come and gone, but AA has been around and working for 75 years or so. Edit to reply to Vader: Al-Anon's first step goes something like: "I'm powerless over people, places and things." There's lots of stuff you have no power over, isn't there? That's the "Life on life's terms" thing. There's a prayer that's really popular among the recovery crowd. God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference. Some stuff you can control, some stuff you can't. You need a real diagnosis to determine treatment. I'm dealing with rotator cuff issues myself. Fortunately, the Doc says there doesn't seem to be any tearing, so I'm able to get by with being careful how I use it and doing the exercises. Hopefully I'll be able to avoid surgery. So far so good. If there is tearing, however, what I am doing would make it worse. Different treatments, including surgery, would have to be considered. I've seen it up close and personal how a loved one drank himself to death, so I know what alcoholism is. Even for non-believers (atheists and agnostics) it can be a lot more than "Mumbo Jumbo". Applied properly, it can be a fairly simple way to live life in a manner that allows one to accept life as it is, and not need to run away and hide in a bottle. In short, clean up the messes made, learn from the mistakes so that you don't make as many messes in the future. Clean up any new messes promptly and try to learn from the mistakes so that fewer and fewer messes are made. Although the "Higher Power" concept is usually taken to mean "God", it is really a way to reign in selfishness and self-centeredness. Stopping putting "Me" at the front of the line and stomping over anyone and everyone in the process. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." A helping hand from others (meaning humans) is not a "higher power." AA's 12 steps is bullshit starting with step #1. A "helping hand from others" can very well be a higher power. http://12and12.net/pdfs/StepTwo.pdf AA's own book says that using the group as a higher power is one way to find faith. And calling the 12 steps "bullshit" is pretty strong, given that it is the only way shown to work on alcoholism, and has been successfully adapted and applied to other addiction issues. Drugs, food, gambling and many others. I don't know your personal experience of course, but unless you have seen, up close and personal, how cunning, baffling and powerful alcoholism/addiction can be, you really can't understand. Nah, wait for next season to start. We'll have another poster attacking Sangi and Docpop of being canopy nazi's who just don't understand how things work. I hope he heals quick that video was scary. Bolding mine. I think that an "Airplane" forum would get a decent amount of traffic. Not necessarily jump planes only, but stuff like the Reno crash, the Iran 727 minus nose gear landing, even Howard White's "Name That Plane" threads from the History & Trivia forum. There are a lot of threads about planes out there, spread across all the forums. Bringing them together, along with jump plane ops and maybe even DZ plane issues (Lodi anyone?) would be convenient. And yes, DiverDriver's website is very nice. He's put a lot of work into it and it is very helpful. A sticky with a link to it would be a good idea for the fourm. Maybe even make him a mod for it, if he's willing. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo

Here in Wisconsin, concealed carry is about to go into effect (Nov 1). The politicians have an interesting take on it. For the Assembly, carry will not be banned. That means carry will be allowed on the floor, in the gallery, in committee hearings. In the Senate, however, it will be banned in the gallery, but not on the floor. So the overlords and their minions will be allowed to be armed, but not their subjects watching. http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/rules-being-developed-would-allow-guns-in-assembly-not-senate-132709403.html "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Interesting question. It piqued my curiosity (I like having a solid understanding of what the cops can and cannot do to me) so I looked around and found this: http://policelink.monster.com/training/articles/4529-does-a-motorist-have-a-privacy-interest-in-their-license-plate Apparently they can. Do you know what kind of prep work was done to the car? The way it fell, I'm going to guess no motor and/or weight added/removed to make it tumble instead of nose down. I'd love to see some of the "Behind the Scenes" photos or vid if they are willing. Joe or Greg commenting on it would be nice too. They chimed in for that music video a couple months ago. ROSAT - The physics of satellite earth re-entry.
wolfriverjoe replied to metalslug's topic in The Bonfire
I'm no expert, but here goes: There really isn't a "boundary" between atmsophere and "space". The atmosphere just keeps getting thinner and thinner. Low earth orbit is still in a very, very small amount of atmosphere. There is a very tiny amount of drag from that. Stuff like the Space Station has to use a small amount of thrust every once in a while to keep the orbit from decaying. They didn't put a propulsion system on RORSAT because it's planned life was well short of the predicted life of the orbit. So your guess that it was in a "very gradual earth re-entry orbit" is sort of correct. Not so much a path calculated for re-entry, more the knowledge that the orbit would decay. And I'm pretty sure I got at least a little of this wrong, someone can (and will) correct it. Edit to add: NASA Clicky "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
