  1. Something a lot of people don't realize is that most big trucks are governed. That video showed two Swift trucks. They are governed to the same top speed (Swift runs 65). Not sure how they got that way, but the guy on the left couldn't go any faster. The guy on the right should have lifted off for a few seconds and let the guy on the left get ahead. The best way to piss off a truck driver is to speed up as he's passing you. He likely can't go any faster, so if you speed up to his pace when he is alongside you, he is stuck out there. If you hang there long enough, don't be too surprised to see a turn signal come on. If the car doesn't speed up or slow down, don't be to surprised to see the truck come over anyway. 2. This is really a question for your S&T A. The answer depends on a lot of variables, and the 'right' answer at one DZ may be the absolute wrong one at a different DZ. Keep in mind that the person most likely to be a problem if you alter your pattern unpredictably is going to be above and behind you. You will not be able to see them (yes, the lower jumper has the right of way, but it's not a right to do stupid things). For example, at my current DZ, the landing area is pretty tight. Landing direction is determined before boarding and is expected to be adhered to. In rare, extreme circumstances, there might be a radio call up from the ground that the winds have changed dramatically and the landing direction needs to be changed. That info would be loudly and repeatedly communicated throughout the plane before door opening. If not, downwind or cross wind landings are something that the jumpers are expected to know how to do. At other DZs I have jumped at, the landing area is huge and wide open, with lots of alternates & outs. If you are landing close to the hangar, you are expected to follow the predetermined landing direction. If you wish to land in a different direction, you must land away from the hangar, and not interfere with the pattern of other jumpers. Even so, you may well end up in a discussion with the air boss or one of his minions and you better have a good reason for doing what you did. 3. Ones that have a lot of tandem customers who may be offended by that sort of thing. My current DZ does not allow them if there are tandems on the plane. One of the best comments from last year. DZO to one of the packers: "Don't wave the dildo around where customers can see it." His concern was not the dildo, it was the customers 'sensibilities'. Which is a perfectly reasonable concern on the part of a business owner. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 4. Anything by Pink Floyd. Anything by Alan Parsons (he produced Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon) Later Beatles. "middle" Styx Pieces of Eight, Grand Illusion, Paradise Theater. Prince, although his lyrics are not super 'kid appropriate'. Any Rush Lots more, but that's what comes to mind at the moment. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 5. There have been several revocations since I took a seat on the board in 2016. Also from same poster, different post: *** if USPA has revoked GM DZs for repeated violations, where would I go to look that up? Is there a public record of such decisions that jumpers could use to do a DZ "background check"? I know that the detail of disciplinary actions against individual jumpers is kept confidential. Is disciplinary action against DZs also kept confidential? Is there any place that it is available to the public? Or even just to USPA members? It may well be in the meeting minutes, I rarely read them line by line. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 7. Well, all other things are not equal. There are non-GM DZs that follow all the rules, and could be 'poster children' for the GM program. There are others that don't maintain their planes and have TIs with no ratings. There are GM DZs who follow all the rules. There are others that allow big turns into the same landing area as regular traffic. There are some that fill out the 'airplane' form with a bunch of lies. All in all, it's a way for USPA to generate income and for DZs to get listed as "USPA Approved." Not a whole lot else. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 8. Baloney. You "share" things that are deliberately provocative, and then whine and cry that you are 'attacked' when the ridiculousness of what you post is pointed out. I agree with your first statement. I am provocative without a doubt. My Christian way of life is in direct opposition to your path... ... However, unless one is grounded in the Word, in Christ, and guided by the Holy Spirit the work can lead you astray. Your first step should always be surrender to Jesus the Christ. Man you are hilarious. Despite your claims of finding salvation in Christ, your 'way of life' is about as far from the teachings of Christ as it could be. To accurately call you out on all of your behaviors would constitute a PA and I'm not going there again. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 9. Yeah. No chance at all for any of the debris to be blown up and sucked into the engine. A FOD engine failure at low altitude over a crowd wouldn't be a problem. Not to mention that there's minimum altitudes and minimum distances from things like 'open air assembly of persons." Edit to add: It was pointed out to me via PM that helis have different minimum alititude rules than fixed wing. But it has to be conducted 'without hazard'. I can't see this meeting that requirement. 10. Because it would mean they have to admit defeat. They would have to admit they made a bad choice. They would have to admit they were wrong. And, worse than that, they would have to admit that the Democrats were right. Not gonna happen. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 11. Did he get a timeout? Or just done playing with us? He earned himself a timeout a couple of weeks ago. I don't know if it's still in effect, or if it expired and he decided not to play here anymore. In either case, the 'noise' level has declined both noticeably and very pleasantly. I don't mind disagreeing and debating with people. But they have to actually engage, and have points that they defend. Simply contradicting what's posted, posting links that don't actually address the points being discussed, and refusing to address questions raised in the debate does nothing. 12. Yes you will... Bounce. Well, yeah. I meant that in a spinning car, you will come to a stop and as long as you haven't hit anything, you will be safe. During a jump, yes. You will eventually reach the ground. I have joked with tandem students that they will land. They will absolutely, positively, for certain be on the ground within a few minutes of leaving the plane. However, unlike the car analogy above, there's no guarantee what sort of shape the jumper will be in on reaching the ground. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 13. The 'turbulences' are actually instability. The students are completely out of control. As a comparison, is it dangerous for a car to be spinning out of control? On a wide open parking lot, no. On a crowded road, yes. However, in a car, as long as you don't hit anything, you will stop eventually. Not the case when you jump. A large part of early instruction is how to maintain stability and regain it if lost. Pulling while spinning or tumbling can be very dangerous. Getting disoriented while spinning or tumbling and not pulling at all is worse. If a student is doing well in freefall, the instructor may hold on loosely, sometimes with only one hand. Deliberately 'tearing away' would be possible, but if the instructor is doing their job properly, they will be back on the student (and won't let go again) in a very short time. Some people do fairly well in freefall from the start. Others take a few jumps to get it. While there are some indicators that can give a hint one way or another, there's no real way to tell for sure. If by 'actuarial reasons', your friend means 'because you can very easily get hurt or die if you screw it up', then yes. There is virtually no one that will allow you to do a solo freefall jump as a first jump. That, in and of itself, should tell you something. 15. I disagree. I do not see President Trump as any type of religious leader. I see him as a successful businessman that understands and rejects the political playing field, especially the Swamp. He understands marketing and promotion. He understands that in negotiation the object is to create a profit margin. He believes that America should be a country where individuals have the opportunity to succeed to the level of happiness that can achieve. I see him desiring to hold America up as a country where foreign nationals should earn the right to live and work here by following the rule of law. I see him as the instrument needed to dismantle the machinations, suppression and intolerable demands of the left. I know of no one that considers President Trump as a religious leader. However, we believe that he was chosen by divine favor as the man for this season for the benefit of America. Thanks for proving his point. 16. USPA SIM 9.4 Not quite sure you realize this, but virtually all tandems are 'commercial jumps.' Every DZ I know of uses the income from tandems to pay the bills. Fun jumpers alone won't generate enough money. It sounds like you are questioning whether or not a tandem jump from a higher altitude balloon, landing in a 'random field' (as balloon jumps almost always do) is within the rules. I don't know the answer to that question, but it would probably help to make the question a bit more specific. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 17. Because we believe people should be able to control themselves. I am sorry that you feel you can't control yourself when you see a woman and will have to attack her. You should probably get help for that. Well, there have been more Republican members of the US House & Senate caught in 'bathroom shenanigans' than trans people. Maybe there should be a law passed about that. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  18. I don't have a daughter, but I'd be FAR more comfortable with a trans person in the same bathroom with my daughter (if I had one), wife or sister than I would with her being alone (anywhere) with Kavanaugh or Trump. Ponder that. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  19. I'm not sure which I find more amazing. The fact that he said this stuff publicly (well, wrote & posted on the internet). The fact that Fox fired him this quickly. 20. We now have one recanted (the boat story) and there are two people who stepped forward who say they are the ones who Ford is referring to. The boat story is recanted? First off, that's going to give a lot of weight to the 'they are just making this stuff up' crowd. Second, the story included friends of the victim going to the boat and inflicting 'serious injuries' on the rapists. It would have been interesting to see if Kavanaugh had any ER visits or emergency dental work at that time, had the story been true. 21. I really don't know what the vet is complaining about, other than the spotty/variable veteran's admin health care. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, he was actually able to get insurance after he lost his job and had a serious illness. I'll be doing something similar in 9 weeks when my COBRA coverage ends. Apparently the Vet care varies widely. A guy that worked for me chose to use veteran's medical care rather than our platinum corporate health care plan, so it must be pretty good here. Not what I hear in general for other locations. Well, what did the Republicans want to do? What did they try to do, both before and after the 2016 election? What was one of Trump's biggest promises (that pretty much failed)? Repeal Obamacare. If they had succeeded in that, this guy would likely be SOL. And I agree that the VA can be somewhat 'hit or miss' depending on where you are. But, anywhere, the waits are pretty long. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 22. Who are you again? The avatar pic looks familiar, and the name sort of rings a bell, but it seems like it's all looooong ago in the past. Yes, I liked the pic. Good luck in the contest. 23. First off, make you links 'clicky'. It's not done automatically on here. Second off, her testimony about what Blasey said isn't hearsay. If they were trying to establish whether or not the assault actually happened, then yes it would be. But for trying to establish that Blasey didn't just make the story up last week (or last year or whatever), then for someone to testify: "Yes, I heard her say she was assaulted" is perfectly admissible. It establishes that people heard Blasey make the claim immediately (or shortly) after it was alleged to have happened. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 25. Clicky Fixy. C'mon Bill, you are the last person who needs to be told how to make a freaking link. And I have to say, that after watching it only once, there was someone who knew about jumping (maybe a jumper, maybe a jump pilot, maybe???) involved in that sequence. - Everyone squishes really tight together on the plane. - Last jumper runs up to the plane at the last second. - Pilot gives last minute jump run info (yes, it was about the landing area, but 'jumprun is 265, green light will be 3/10 before' wouldn't have made any sense to the audience) - Jumpers getting pumped right before exit. - Red light, green light, out the door. - Last, but not least, the jumpers knew the correct answer to the question "Why would you jump from a perfectly good airplane?"
